First listen was ok but on the second listen it really clicked!

And I really respect that about it! She could have released a safe/basic banger but she hasn't and I'm in love with it :wub:

I think this relies more on hype than the actual song tbh, it's fine but nothing special.

First listen: It's good, but not what I expected. The verses are a bit TOO different to the chorus and I feel like they don't flow well at all and can be quite jarring.

 

Second listen: The chorus is the best thing. Verses still need work/feel like they belong to a different song, but it's growing.

 

Third listen, first with video: R.I.P. ME. All issues I had with the song originally are already gone 🙃

 

THAT CHORUS is so ethereal and just stunning. :wub: It's so 90's with a modern twist. The little twinkly parts in the chorus remind me of Cheryl 'Fight For This Love'. It's a huge grower!

 

I can definitely hear Fight For This Love but for me the verses were what reminded me of it. I like it a lot sounds like two separate tracks fused together. That chorus though :heart:

 

She did write it tho!

 

Oh then in that case the change of direction is more authentic

 

When Rihanna came back with the awful Russian Roulette as she told her managers she wanted a darker sound to reflect the personal drama... That was bad. It was totally inauthentic.

 

Then Ruse Boy came and we could all jive as THAT was Rihanna
