The semifinal took place on Jan, 11, at the end of it we have 11 finalists confirmed:

Гюнешь // Gyunesh - I Won't Cry

ALEKSEEV - Forever

SHUMA - Хмаркi // Hmarki (Clouds)

ALEN HIT - I Don't Care

Софья Лапина // Sofi Lapina - Gravity

Анастасия Малашкевич // Anastasiya Malashkevich - World On Fire

Кирилл Гуд // Kirill Good - Deja Vu

NAPOLI - Chasing Rushes

Lexy - Ain't You

Радиоволна / Radiovolna - Subway Lines

Adagio - Ты i я // Ty i ya (You and i)

The date of the final is not confirmed yet but rumoured to be on Feb, 15.

Gravity and Ain’t You are the only real standouts for me

What I've heard is that it's basically a done deal for Alekseev. He's Ukrainian and apparently was trying to represent them until he pulled out and has now gone for Belarus instead...

And I'd be fine with that, I think his song is quite dramatic and I love how it feels like classic Eurovision. The only other one I've checked out is "I Won't Cry" which is a slight bop

the Alekseev song is ripping off a really
from like 2003 it's ridiculous. the chorus is almost identical except for the more upbeat vibe. i hope it gets disqualified

We already have a pretty good idea of the potential staging for Forever when it goes to Lisbon (I mean it's basically a done deal at this point)

okay in all fairness that thing would probably be one of the most memorable special effects of the recent years (until something better comes along). especially if he pulls it off vocally being upside down like that

So, at the present time, 8 of the finalists have written an open letter threatening to withdraw from the National Final if Alekseev is not disqualified (since, yaknow, it is kinda an English version of a pretty big hit in Eastern Europe prior to September the 1st so it is literally the definition of "gaining commercial advantage" which the rule is in place to protect).

Oh Belarus, the country that refuses to stop giving!

02. Alekseev - Forever

09. Lexy - Ain't You

Voting
The usual 50/50 split between the jury and the televoting.

Potential Winners?
The betting market for the Belarusian selection is unsurprisingly quite low, there's very little in it among all 10 acts, however Alekseev and Gunesh are slightly ahead, with both being the two fan favourites also. Belarus' selection has been rocked with scandal this year and I very much suspect this will continue even after tomorrow night's final.
Would love it if Deja Vu could somehow snatch this.
Alekseev has won the very rigged televote, with Shuma 2nd, Kirill 3rd, NAPOLI 4th and Gunesh 5th. NAVIBAND only came 5th on the public vote last year so it's all down to how the jury votes.

Televote numbers much lower than in recent years so I think that televote is fairly representative, but yes the jury can easily make their winner win considering they are getting a good 30 minutes to decide their votes *after* the televote reveal :heehee:

They could push Shuma to the win if they want another Belarusian language entry.

ABSOLUTELY SCREAMING AT THAT RESULTS REVEAL AFTER AN HOUR WAIT

The winner's reprise was perfectly competent vocally, I haven't seen his original performance yet but I had a feeling all the Eurofans TRASHING it were just creating a drama over nothing.

I think it was the best choice, should see Belarus in the final for a second year in a row (just)!

It was good but felt a bit 'showy for the sake of it' if you know what I mean. I actually preferred his reprise perf in a normal outfit.

Comfortable qualifier at the moment but with so many more songs still to come and the fact Russia and Ukraine are in the other semi, it could end up being borderline.
