#8: Ed Sheeran - "Shape Of You" [10 Votes // 25.00%]

Lead single, ÷

Peak: #1 (12 weeks)

And down goes the other Ed track. This was released simultaneously with “Castle On The Hill” around the beginning of the year, eventually becoming the biggest song of the year. It shot straight to #1 on the week of its debut with 240,000 downloads and went on to last on the top for the next three months. It also holds the longevity record for weeks in the top 10 of the Hot 100, at 31 weeks. Poor brave LeAnn Rimes and The Chainsmokers. As of now it’s still on the chart at #22 in its 53rd week; the last song to pass the year-long mark is “Counting Stars” I think :P (getting this in before Jordan posts the chart I think)

Now it’s not a bad song, but it does fall victim into oversaturation, especially since it logged in over 500,000 radio spins. It does confuse me, however how this became his first #1 and not Thinking Out Loud. Of course Uptown Funk exists but you’d think he’d do the same thing Starboy did in the beginning of the year: sneak in a week at #1 in between a massive run. After this era, I’m actually wondering if we’ll ever get an Ed song that everyone on BuzzJack likes again.

So both Ed songs are gone now. And every song left has spent a total of 18 weeks on top of the chart.

This has turned into the worst Least Favourite poll series of all time on this site for me  once Rockstar leaves next there'll be ONE good song left (namely HUMBLE.)

I see basically all the people who were voting for 'Perfect' immediately switched to 'Shape Of You' lol. x

Sticking with Taylor as I probably will be until like the last round at this rate (c'mon people, it's really not a good song).

Me vs Bray vs Dobbo vs whoever has been voting cardi b

welcome to who is the most out of taste with BuzzJack

There's kind of an inherent problem with these elimination games where the lay of the hand has a significant impact on the results, and if you have a hint of genre 'warring' going on, it just becomes a one sided battle, as soon as one side takes an inch, they get a mile. For all I know, if 'Bad & Boujee' were out first, the next 3 eliminations might have been rap songs and we'd end up with a completely different result, based solely on how round 1 turned out.

(But those Sheeran tracks are the worst so I'm a-okay with this).

Me too. It is TERRIBLE.

I'm going for 'That's What I Like' now that both Ed Sheeran tracks are out. I like it, but it's nowhere near the rest of them for me.
