She showed so much promise with Ciao Adios - pretty much everything she has released since then has been mediocre at best, this is no exception :/

Alarm is still an all time fav, 2002 is actually really nice it shouldn't be getting so much hate here

Not too sure what the negative reaction here is about, I'm LOVING it which is very rare for me considering the quality of pop music recently. Sounds wonderful in the sun and the chorus is SO catchy.
I don't think much of this after a first listen, it is very underwhelming.
I mean I like the tune and it's catchy but the inner pedant in me is very "NONE OF THESE SONGS YOU'RE NAMECHECKING EVEN CAME OUT IN 2002!"
Tbf, it's about a summer romance, so I assume they were just name checking songs that were popular in that era. Just like how we all still latch on to 'Euphoria', 'Run Away With Me' etc.. :D so I think people are caring a bit too much in regards to that part :kink:

As somebody who associates dates/periods with music, I wholeheartedly disagree :P

I hate how much this is growing on me  It actually reminds me of Britt Nicole - Ready Or Not more than anything now I think of it, but it's just a nice pop song for summer and isn't trying to be anything else.

Same. It’s something on paper I really should hate but it’s just too catchy and care free to not enjoy :(.

It sounds like it was written by someone who doesn’t actually remember 2002 which is annoying for those of us with vivid memories of that year. I guess we’re not the intended audience tho.

I cannot stand her singing style. I hate it on all her songs.

Jonjo is right really, it doesn't have to be songs released in 2002, it's about a fling in 2002, and obviously you'd have favourite songs from the few years prior you might associate with that relationship and still listen to a lot (that doesn't make any difference to 99 Problems being released a year later though). People are reading into it a bit too much though, it's just a pop song...

Although in saying that she was 11 in 2002 so idk why they would write a song about that time to be all nostalgic other than that they had the melody around and that fit easily or something

I’m pretty sure childish gambimo - 3005 sucks bc it’s not referencing anything that will happen 1000 years from now xx
