Well, i'm a bit of a Bond expert (films and Books) and its a remake of Thunderball ^_^

yeah thats the one, remembered most of the story of why xXx got made but forgot it was thunderball

I should hope not, its awful! as is the original Casino Royale.

i suppose if you like all those cheesy 60s comedies, you will like the original Casino Royale. agreed its a bit of a mess due to all the directors but it has its charm (well not up to carry on/pink panther/monte carlo or bust type/doctor things)

Speaking of the Ford deal...

I haven't seen the film yet (probably will this weekend), but some friends who saw it claimed the product placement was overt and obnoxious. They said Bond drives a Ford and an Aston, the villains drive Jags while Fods and Volvos swerve off the road during their chases. They said the camera constantly cuts to unnecessary closeups of Sony Vaio computers and Sony Erikson mobile phones. And does Bond really ask for Smirnoff vodka??

That all sounds like a bit too much.

i spent some of the film keeping an eye out for all the product placement. ford had a good go in about a minute and a half Bond got out of a Mondeo, into a Range Rover, then went to the carpark where he parked alongside a Volvo and a Lincoln and smashed back into a Jag. then the Aston turned up. great product placement there, most of all Ford's car brands in a shot place of time, well apart from Mazda  which i didnt see.

this is a pity as this car is Wankel powered  and its inventor Dr Felix Wankel just so totally sounds like a Bond villian if there was ever one, just imagine him with Pussy Galore and Honey Ryder.

I thought the bit where he was on the boat at the end was the most blatant product placement as Bond has a little play on his SONY WAIO LAPTOP THAT WAS PLACED EXACTLY CENTRE SCREEN. How could you miss it?

also when he was on the train with vesper she notices his watch and says "is it a rolex?" he says "its an omega" then she say "beautiful watch" subtle!!

it was so blatant and cringey to watch, you could tell poor eva green was forced to say that sh!t

Well, I dunno, that's kinda how a lot of people actually talk, they brag about the sh!t they have, just today I heard a couple of blokes talking about cars...

"Nice car mate.."

"Yeah, the new Merc innit. Lovely mover, got a lot under the bonnet. Zero to sixty in under 6 seconds man.."

Conversation, or advertisement...? Or is it just advertisement if they say it in a film...? Was Quentin Tarantino consciously advertising McDonalds and Burger King when he wrote the famous conversation in "Pulp Fiction"....?

I'm betting a lot of peeps went into McD's after watching Pulp Fiction....

Loved it, more darker and grittier, I don't think Pierce Bronsan could have carried a movie like that, Daniel Craig will have to grow on me though, but certainly better than Pierce Bronsan, but no one can beat Sean Connery

It also showed more emotional side to Bond, usually Bond gets the girl in the end, but this time he loses the girl. I be more intrigued on the continuation in the next Bond movie as the ending left it wide open.

Overall I'm very impressed.

I've never really got the whole thing with Bond movies, but I think this was brilliant. :D

I liked the idea of starting the whole Bond thing off again right from the beginning and I thought Daniel Craig suited the role of Bond very well as he was something different. He wasn't your average charchter in these sorts of films as he was a lot darker and grittier, which he carried off very well.

Bond and the Bond girl actually made you think they were real people as well. The scene on the stairs where after they have killed those two men, actually makes you belive that they genuinley didn't mean to do it and how affected they were with taking somebody's life away.

I thought the action scenes in this were very good as well. ^_^

   There was alot of nudity from Daniel "Horny" Craig!

NO THAT'S WHAT I CALL ENTERTAINMENT!

I had my reservations about Daniel Craig as Bond. I still don't think he is good looking enough as Bond, but he certainly looked the part of a toughguy. That being said, he has apparently bedded many beautiful women in real life, so what do I know

My wife and I enjoyed the film, which was quite a departure from recent Bond movies. I still have reservations about Craig, but he has won me over to a degree, and I will certainly be watching the next one at the cinema :)
