Posted April 30, 20187 yr Dexton's Top 40 (31/04/2017) (Week 51) IXNrHusLXoM Avicii's Friend Of Mine featuring Vargas & Lagola (1-1) and Ariana Grande's No Tears Left To Cry (2-2) tighten their hold on the Top 2 this week, whilst Shawn Mendes earns his first Top 5 hit with In My Blood (6-3) climbing for a 6th consecutive week. Drake's Nice For What (3-4) and George Ezra's Paradise (5-5) complete the Top 5 giving Paradise a total of 8 weeks within the Top 5. Justin Timberlake's Filthy, Jax Jones' Breathe featuring Ina Wroldsen, Craig David's I Know You featuring Bastille, Avicii's Without You featuring Sandro Cavazza, and Dua Lipa's New Rules are the only other songs to have spent 8 weeks or more in the Top 5. Dua is lucky enough to have spent 9 weeks in the Top 5, although only 1 week was at #1! Anne-Marie, Blossoms, and The Wombats all climb up the Top 10 this week although Blossoms are the only ones not getting new peaks - instead boosted back into the Top 10 by their album release on Friday. Cheetah Tongue becomes The Wombats' highest peaking single at #9. Other songs earning new peaks this week are Banx & Ranx & Ella Eyre's Answerphone featuring Yxng Bane (16-12), Luke Million's Hypnotised featuring Last Dinosaurs (22-15), Sam Smith's Pray featurng Logic (24-16), David Guetta & Sia's Flames (21-17), Kendrick Lamars Love featuring Zacari (26-19), Client Liaison's World Of Our Love (29-25), Cash Cash's Finest Hour featuring Abir (37-27), MoStack's What I Wanna (38-30), and Pink's Whatever You Want (40-33). Shotgun could actually earn a new peak in a few weeks, could George Ezra get himself a second #1 here? New entries come from Blossoms, Blossoms again, Amy Shark, Palais, and Duke Dumont! A nice mix of alternative and dance for sure. There's A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls) enters at #13 whilst the title track from the bands album Cool Like You debuts at #36. Amy Shark makes a grand return to my chart after first debuting here 51 weeks ago with Adore! Adore only managed a #13 peak on my chart, but would have been much higher had I begun the chart a month earlier :P Could her latest single I Said Hi reach the dizzy heights of Adore? Western Australia's own Palais debuts at #38 with Instant Crush featuring Your Girl Pho! I'll actually be meeting this guy later this week for a tour around a studio (psst he's called Jeremy) and I'm liking his music. Duke Dumont's Inhale featuring Ebenezer is at #39. For the second week in a row my album chart Top 3 are all new entries! Blossoms' Cool Like You tops the chart boasting lead single I Can't Stand It (#5 peak in my singles chart). Anne-Marie misses out on a #1 album due to the week she released, any other week she would've gone in at #1 but unfortunately for her Blossoms are too big of a force to beat :lol: Post Malone's Beerbongs & Bentleys makes an appearance at #3. I was a bit disappointed with B&B, it's nice enough but nothing aside from the singles really stood out. Slaying At Tamara's holds steady at #4 followed by two out of three Avicii albums/EPs. May 1, 20187 yr Hi Dexton! Poor Ariana, getting blocked both here and officially! Good to see '2002' making upwards progress. It's not my favourite thing she's released but I'm glad she's doing well. The album is a bit of a disappointment tbh but maybe it will grow. Only just started listening to the Blossoms album (got it on as we speak), I'm really enjoying 'There's A Reason Why' so I'm happy to see that as your highest new entry. 'Cool Like You' is also good - hopefully a couple more tracks from their album will make an appearance in your chart next week - unless you're like the OCC and have a three song rule? :P Great chart as always :D
