Has there been an occasion where you remember overwhelmingly seeing new releases on the same day from some of the biggest names around that many were hyping to do well?

I always liked a chart battl when they were a thing, and if two heavyweight trending artists released music the same week it was always exciting to see who would peak highest when the charts were revealed! Sadly, this seldom happens now.

I don’t have a specific memory of a big week, but it may have been around 2014 when the sound of chart music shifted somewhat and loads of upcoming artists were making their mark on the charts releasing great quality singles.

Ok, over to you, what’s your best chart memory?

I remember W/E 15th November 2008 was a huge time!

We had:

- Beyoncè - If I Were A Boy

- Britney Spears - Womanizer

- Christina Aguilera - Keeps Getting Better

- Leona Lewis - Forgive Me

- T.I. feat. Rihanna - Live Your Life (managed to chart at #38 with 2 days sales iirc)

From recent years, there was that week in 2013 with Miley, Eminem, Saturdays, John Newman all releasing.

Then the year after with Band Aid, Clean Bandit, Olly Murs, Wretch 32, Rixton etc.

But yeah you're right it doesn't happen any more.

Remember I think it was Nov 2004 when Christina/Destinys Child/Eminem all released singles at the biggest time of the year - eminem won the battle tho!
From recent years was it not the Katy / Britney / Tinashe / Hailee release week in terms of BJ Favs and ofc Hailee somehow got the hit? haha

Ha the shade wasn't on purpose. When I checked OCC it said it was at like #83 the week before
Pretty much every week from 1995-2000. I miss the days of 12 new entries in the top 40 week after week.

Mmm I think there was a week in 2004 where we had Eminem, Destiny's Child, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera/Missy Elliott, Usher/Alicia Keys all releasing & filling the top 5 - all had previously had number 1 hits (bar Alicia, though she'd had a number 1 album I believe) - knocking previous week's number 1 from Ja Rule/R. Kelly/Ashanti down, Michael Gray and Jamelia also debuting top 10... Daniel Bedingfield's 2nd album lead from the week before plummeting after missing the top spot... that was a big couple of weeks!

Just like AcerBen, I miss the days when we had a jam pack of 12 to 14 new entries inside the top 40 in a single week, the charts were a lot fresher :D

Ooh yes!

Was it:

Eminem - Just Lose It

Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath

Britney Spears - My Prerogative

Christina Aguilera - Car Wash

Usher - My Boo

Huge week :o

There was a week when all the top 5 were new entries

Including when you believe by Whitney and Mariah

I remember when Bop bop baby came out but westlife and they missed the top 5, seem to remember some massive songs out that week!
From recent years, there was that week in 2013 with Miley, Eminem, Saturdays, John Newman all releasing.

Was gonna say this! Also 'Bonfire Heart' by James Blunt and 'Heartbreaker' by Justin Bieber challenged for top 10

I also remember the year when we had 2 great #1s back to back Evanescence followed by Blu Cantrell feat Sean Paul - Breathe

A week in 1998 I remember Mark Goodier going on about the biggest superstars of the world and all new top 5.

1. Cher - Believe

2. George Michael - Outside

3. U2 - The Sweetest Thing

4. Culture Club - I Just Wanna Be Loved

5. Alanis Morissette - Thank You

And another week in early 99 where seven new entries were in the top 10 (I think this may have been the first time that there were seven new entries in the top ten (I may be wrong))

Some songs in the top ten were Elton and LeAnn Rimes’ colab, Shawn Mullins - Lullaby, Cardigans with Earse/Rewind; a few others and Britney Spears’ second week at the top defeating blur with tender

Huge week :o

That's the one! On reflection, so annoying that ANOTHER silly song from Eminem managed to beat the amazing "Lose My Breath" to the top spot! I like(d) "Just Lose It" don't get me wrong but once you've heard one or two of those, you've heard them all from back then. Though actually I feel that's what we're missing from Eminem these days
