Here's hoping A Tribe Called Red are doing us proud so far, maybe even with some points from our host ;o (nah) Shoutouts to Aelandor who would have got our 18 if they qualified, still shook. The question was, will we be predictable enough to give a second 18 to a pushing-ten-minutes Anathema song in the space of 6 contests? The answer is, not quite. Our 18 goes to Utopia instead, with an absolutely marvellous comeback, exactly the kind of thing Persephonian residents love to vibe out to when it comes on on the radio at 3am *.* it provides some nice bookends for now as Utopia got our top marks with Spinnerette way back in our first ever contest BJSC 19 as well. This is the fourth time in total they've topped our votes, also including Best Coast in BJSC 35 and most recently the incredible Blackmill in BJSC 48. Do stick around RFC x Rolloland thus do fall short of a third 18 from us but it's still another 15 points for another Anathema entry, a very different sound to 'Untouchable (Parts 1 & 2)' (other than the last 2 minutes) but incredible in its own way as well. Then our bronze medal for a second month in a row goes to Cowtermont (third contest in a row if you count Club Bizarre) making an all-six-plus-minutes top 3, it's just another 'Free Tibet' clone but by god is it a brilliant one. 12 points go to a topical and thought-provoking tune from Land of DW, a landslide win for this wouldn't go amiss, not convinced it'll happen but we'll soon see. FSR Rontvia pick up 11 points with a brilliant slice of Marina-esque electropop. Unovia have been 7th in our final votes (either 4 or 9 points) three times before but now beat that to get 10 points here, their most to date from us, with another balls-to-the-wall banger coming out of Drag Race while Thelonia also match their best points (though not position) from us, picking up 9 points with their trance anthem (a slight dropoff from getting 12 in the semi-final but it's still a choon). 8 points go to the trippy and dreamy Deandria, while 7 points head Quintessa's way (yes, we're voting for a country song, this is not a mistake!!) and Cumulonimbia get 6 points to make up for us snubbing this song back in the 00s dance spinoff. Filling out the mealworm points: Jadakissnia provide some more trippiness in the 5 points slot, South Danaelanda and Cor Lupus end up back-to-back at 4 and 3 (the latter was originally a fair bit behind but ended up growing a lot and oh so nearly claiming the title of best DnB entry this month), another grower from Pupok gets our 2 points and it's a solitary point to République d'Ashton back to doing what they do best, that's points for all three of their uptempo foreign pop bop entries this year so far, and this is a big improvement on 'Error'.
