October 9, 20186 yr Phew!!! Ruby safe :drama: In the end the right person left the show, when you take John's previous challenges. I hate to say this, but I think Rahul will be one of the finalists, along with Manon and (Ruby hopefully). I just hope Rahul has an epic fail week, I rather see Kim Joy in the final.

October 9, 20186 yr Rahul really infuriates me :lol: This whole 'woe is me' act doesn't wash with me. Ruby is my absolute fave so glad to see her safe, Kim Joy is such a sweetie as well, I really like her. I don't understand why they had vegan week when they bashed being a vegan at every opportunity possible though? :lol: I really don't get in general why people get so angry at other people being a vegan, Twitter has been embarrasing for it.
October 10, 20186 yr Gutted for Ruby in the showstopper, really hope she has a good week next week or she'll probably be gone. :cry: Kinda glad to see John gone though. Some of his stuff was good, but most of the time he was bordering being as bad as Terry.

Yeah I know! When Jon said he ate meat for every meal I was just like... :mellow: There's more to food and eating than just meat. I thought it was a good concept but wasn't executed well - this week would have been perfect with one of Mel and Sue's history lessons 💔 I'm so pleased that Kim-Joy got Star Baker again! She's really grown on me a lot since the first episode. I think she could be a challenger for the winner at this rate - I checked and both Sophie and Nadiya won their first SB episode 5 (same as Kim-Joy) and Candice also won episode 5 (after winning episode 2). I really want Manon to make the final as well. I don't think it's fair that Rahul was in consideration for Star Baker this week though while Ruby was in line to go. I've not been bothered about the judges' favouritism for him before but it was so obvious in last night's episode.
October 10, 20186 yr Author There wasn't an obvious candidate for Star Baker this week. Rahul did very well in the first two challenges before a poor showstopper. With two out of three successes that made him a contender. That said, I doubt he stood much chance of winning but the judges had to give the impression that there was some competition.
October 10, 20186 yr I think it was an odd one in terms of judging for Star Baker, I feel like the standard was iffy and everyone messed up on one challenge or another so it wasn't like a usual week where the Showstopper helps decide between the potential Star Bakers. I agree about the portrayal of vegan week though, they didn't do that when they had say "free from" week (and granted that was more for people who have certain allergies) but they did pretty much just disparage veganism, when as Bryony said it was good to do just to show that you can do vegan baking and it be as tasty as normal if you do it correctly. There normally do have a week or two where it's stuff they won't be used to like this, free from week in Nadiya's series or last year when they had "forgotten bakes", they have to challenge the bakers.
October 16, 20186 yr I bet he f***s up but Manon f***s up even worse and goes :lol: I'd prefer Manon to go out of the two. I think she may go as she kept it too simple with the pastry, however has burnt it and used the wrong butter. Plus she seems to be channelling French week. I'm basically just here for Bryony, Kim-Joy and Ruby
