Sugababes star wants solo success

DigitalSpy.com Sunday, October 29 2006, 12:57 UTC - by Daniel Kilkelly

Keisha Buchanan has spoken about her plans to launch a solo career.

The Sugababes singer confessed that she hopes to follow in the footsteps of Beyonce Knowles, who found success in her own right after taking a break from Destiny's Child.

"We all want to do solo careers. It is something we talk about a lot," Keisha told The People. "We love what the girls in Destiny's Child did by going off and doing their own thing before reuniting again.

"I think we will be following suit - going off and then getting together again later. I am sure things will happen naturally."

Do you think this is a good move or the beginning of the end for the Sugababes?

Not sure what to make of it, it annoys me really, i doubt any of them will do too well on their own unless they get a really good radio friendly hit and for everyone to recognize them on their own, it wont be that easy, i dont see why they cant just stick together while they are still a success

Sugababes are something different to all of the other pop bands who try and launch solo careers

I think that it basically depends on how good the material is, but I know they aren't splitting just yet, in fact they say they're not half-way where they want to be

So yeah, they can all write songs and we'll just have to see how it goes ^_^

because sometimes doing what you wanna do is actually more important thand doing something just for sucess. 8 years is a long time. if she wants to then im happy for her. :)

I hate it when bands do this becuase it never really works out that well. It does sometimes but v rare
to be honest, i dont think any would do too well Solo, maybe they will give it a try, and if it fails, they will come back as a Trio! :cheer:

I have no problem with Keisha going solo since her voice is the best amongst the babes but it's the complete opposite for Heidi. -_-

But for Amelle... well, poor her, she hasn't done a proper album with them and now Keisha wants to do solo... the timing is just so wrong for her. :(

Sugababe Keisha Buchanan has denied rumours the band are on the verge of splitting to pursue solo careers.

Keisha insists the band have only achieved half of what they would like to achieve, and with new member Amelle joining eight months ago it's a brand new start for the band.

Keisha says: "It's really annoying. You get asked a question about a solo career, and we say 'Yes, one day but not now'. And then they just print the 'Yes' part."

"We've been a band for six years and there must be a thousand interviews where we say right form the start, yes, we are three solo artists in a pop group, but we work as a band. We have only achieved half of what we would like, and with Amelle just joining eight months ago it's a brand new start for the band."
