The General Director of Turkish broadcaster TRT, has recently made remarks about why they don't enter the contest anymore:

 

“We don’t consider rejoining the contest. We have reasons like the voting system. As a public broadcaster, we also cannot broadcast live at 9 p.m. –when children are still awake– someone like the bearded Austrian who wore a skirt, do not believe in genders and says that he is both a man and a woman”

 

“I have told the European Broadcasting Union on the Eurovision issue that they deviated from their values. As a result of this, we have seen other countries follow suit and also boycott the contest. There is a mental chaos at the EBU because of its executives. If they can fix it, we can definitely join Eurovision again,”

The EBU of course is firm on their stance:

 

“The Eurovision Song Contest’s values are of universality and inclusivity and our proud tradition of celebrating diversity through music,”

 

TRT has made a huge contribution to the contest in the past, including hosting the event in Istanbul in 2004, and we would very much welcome them back should they decide to participate again,”

 

 

I'd very much love to see a Turkey return one day, or perhaps they should just send İki Dakika every year until it wins?

Turkey will come back when there are 45 dated Dad Rock entries and they are guaranteed to win every year and not a moment sooner.

Lame excuse. Deep down it's all about Kim Jong Erdogan wanting to burning bridges with Europe and shielding Turkey from foreign influences as much as he can.

 

I don't miss Turkey at all in ESC.
