Cardi scores her first leader for me this week with the irresistible I Like It. Another I was mixed on at first but which proved to be a massive grower, what can I say, I like em like that. The track's ascension also puts J Balvin into the club of random rent-a-rappers with multiple chart toppers for me along with Juicy J who randomly also has 2. Balvin first hit the top spot four years ago alongside Inna on Cola Song, the first of her six chart toppers for me since I began these in 2013. Continuing to rep for rap girls within the top 10, Iggy's Kream is right behind at #2, while Nicki holds at #7 and Azealia rises to #8. Cardi's turn on Dinero also holds just outside the top 10 while Nicki holds an additional two tracks within this week's top 40.

 

Highest new entrant to this week's 40 is a re from Betty Who's Just Thought You Should Know which zooms in to outrank its original #31 peak.

Other new entries come mainly towards the tail end and this week come from Keep Shelly in Athens, Texas, James Blake, Dirty Projectors, Christine and the Queens, Audrey, Carson, and a second re-entry from Khalid. Dinero (9 weeks), 1,2,3 (9 weeks) and Senseless (8 weeks) continue as longest-runners this week.

And here are this week's new arrivals in video form! Nine this week including two re-entries ;)

 

 

Let's start off with those. Khalid has been on a lot of tracks recently but this is one of his few solos, in as much as a three-act track counts as a solo. OTW re-peaks in its fourth week partly helped by the newly-released video and the fact it's one I've been listening to out and about more, it's a good lowkey chill tune that shows Khalid at his best and doesn't stretch his voice or presence the way some of the recent collabs have been doing. Betty Who also gets her highest peaker for a while; she claims to have rebranded recently but as far as I can see is still serving the same brand of 80s-inspired pop while rocking that short blonde bob. :rolleyes:

 

 

These next three are vaguely more poppy than the rest. Christine scores a second from her current album campaign, the first time she's managed that for me, even though it is at the tail end of this week's chart. Carson and Audrey are a pair of mononyn=med newbies who also see their chart debuts this week with the bouncy Good Love and morose Party respectively.

 

 

And these other four are a bit more alternative. James Blake's Don't Miss It enters after a few weeks flying under the radar, a solid effort from him. Texas are the other big name here, scoring another charter from their latest album following a revisit to it from me in case I missed any gems. Dirty Projectors are probably best known for Major Lazer's early hit Get Free which featured member (now ex) Amber Coffman; the folk/folktronica group have scored three or four previous chart hits for me but nothing since 2015, so this is a welcome return. And finally a second charter for Keep Shelly in Athens who surprise-dropped a pretty solid EP a few months back that's a nice follow-up to their quite disappointing 2017 album excepting track Seattle which was a long-runner for me last year. Possibly one to look out for in BJSC :P
