Well the first contestant has already been revealed so it's time to start the thread before the official cast announcement on Wednesday the 12th!

Idk if I should keep the main one and the juniors in the same thread bc I'm probably gonna be the only person talking about DWTS Juniors but I'll make a separate post about it if needed

After the unnecessary Athletes miniseason brought forth the US version's first LGBT winner in Adam Rippon (and another robbed queen in Mirai Nagasu), one of the best reality shows on television is back for a regular season this time, with no athletes being supposed ringers. So Lindsay Arnold won't have to worry about getting the short end of the stick this time. The full cast list will be announced on September 12, with the season premiere on the 24th.

Pros List

NO PETA THIS TIME :o  Val and Jenna got engaged earlier this summer, which I saw on Instagram and it's CUTE CUTE CUTE, but they're back in business, especially with Jenna being the reigning champ and Val taking on judge duties on the Juniors side. Most of them are what I expected with them being mentors for DWTS Jr, and for the third fall season in a row, we have a new pro in Brandon Armstrong! Let's hope he does better than Jenna and Alan on his first outing (or that he ends up with a figure skater in the 2019 seasons).

Val has been announced to be paired with Nancy McKeon (Jo from The Facts Of Life).

It's a new take on DWTS but with kid pros and kid celebs. Jordan Fisher & Frankie Muniz host (which will be exciting) and the judges will be Season 26 champ Adam Rippon, current pro Val Chmerkovskiy (never gonna understand why they shoehorned him for this) and La La Land choreographer Mandy Moore. The kid pros will be mentored by current DWTS pros and troupe members:

I think I'm more excited about Elli more than anything else, she was amazing in Dance Moms and had a lot of potential. Didn't know she had ballroom experience as well!

Tinashe and Evanna Lynch confirmed :o LUNA LOVEGOOD!!

TINASHE IS WITH GLEB I AM SCREAMING

he'll probably oversexualize her like he did with Jana but I think he's learned from Sasha/Arike that going sexual all the time won't work. I feel like they're trying to mold him into the next Val with this

also apparently Evanna is with Keo :D I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW

  • Author
okay so now people are saying Tinashe might be with Brandon... IF HE GETS A GIANT RINGER ON HIS FIRST TIME AS A PRO I'M GONNA SCREAM. Jenna and Alan were done dirty and NOW production decides to listen?
She is 10000% doing a Heather Morris/Christina Milian :(

well now I'm glad Mark's not in this season to be paired up with her, I would have been pissed

Summary:

1. Joe Amabile & Jenna Johnson: So apparently he’s one of the big faces of Bachelor In Paradise (someone mocked him for working at a grocery store). I don’t even know why he’s here when he wasn’t even the Bachelor but anything goes I guess. Honestly I smell a flop, so Jenna in course to become one of the most inconsistent pros since Tony Dovolani.

2. Mary Lou Retton & Sasha Farber: I’m glad Sasha’s back; he worked so well with Tonya last time. She actually had hip replacement surgery a decade ago so it might be a toss-up between that and the Larry Nassar scandal for Most Memorable Year.

3. Milo Manheim & Witney Carson: WITNEY HAS A GOOD PARTNER AGAIN :cheer: :cheer: Zombies was living proof that Disney Channel had jumped the shark, but maybe things will be different on the dance floor. He could win.

4. Juan Pablo di Pace & Cheryl Burke: I was about to say that since Candace and Jodie already did DWTS that Andrea Barber (Kimmy) would be next, so I’m glad they diverted a bit and went with Fernando :P Also another one with potential, could be Cheryl’s best finish in years.

5. Alexis Ren & Alan Bersten: Maxim model, not much else to say. She screams “contestant who surprises but then gets robbed during team dances”.

6. Danelle Umstead & Artem Chigvintsev: A Paralympic with an eye condition. I NEED THIS TO BE ARTEM’S BEST FINISH. It will be interesting to see how well she does when she’s not on hold.

7. Tinashe & Brandon Armstrong: Yay, Brandon’s getting a chance! Normally the new pros don’t get huge ringers for their first roundabout (although we’ve had Snooki/Cody Simpson/Lea Thompson in the past) so this might be the one that breaks that chain. The only drawback is that either she’ll be too good and get robbed like Heather did and Brandon has absolutely no experience as a pro.

8. Nikki Glaser & Gleb Savchenko: A comedian who’s well known for making sex jokes on live TV. I expect nothing.

9. John Schneider & Emma Slater: Clark’s dad in Smallville! That was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Not entirely sure how he will do on the dance floor but he guy managed to raise Superman for four seasons so we’ll see.

10. Evanna Lynch & Keo Motsepe: Keo potentially getting two good partners in a row? What ees? My inner Ravenclaw is already pooling all my votes to her

11. Nancy McKeon & Val Chmerkovskiy: For the first time I’m not that excited about a Val pairing. Victoria was intriguing enough but I have no idea where her potential lies.

12. DeMarcus Ware & Lindsay Arnold: Could be another one of those football players who makes it in for no apparent reason. He’ll be no Rashad but I expect him to go far.

13. Bobby Bones & Sharna Burgess: Oh no, Sharna, what are they doing to you? He’ll be okay as a dancer but I don’t expect much. He’ll probably get all the votes from Middle America and somehow make it farther than Tinashe which will anger me so much.

Two night premiere: Monday the 24th will have the first dances and then Tuesday will have a theme night and then elimination. I don’t really see that many sure fire first eliminees unlike other seasons when they were usually Keo’s partner so we’ll see. After than it returns to Mondays weekly.

the full dances will be uploaded on their YouTube at around 8 PM PST every single time and voting typically ends in the morning (so I vote immediately after the show when I’ve had time to digest the dances)

omg Nancy McKeon was Sonny's mum in Sonny With A Chance, queen
  • 2 weeks later...
I'm watching later in the week probs but Louisa Johnson getting that promo in Nikki's dance *_*

Omg did Cheryl Burke undergo plastic surgery or she just lost weight?!!!

She looks so very different...

Watch all Week 1 dances here!

Live from Hollywood, it’s the fall season of Dancing With The Stars! We got Luna Lovegood, Jonathan Kent, and our first blind contestant!

(scores: Carrie Ann | Len | Bruno)

-

Mary Lou & Sasha: Yet another controversial partner for Sasha... apparently she was trying to rule against something having to do with the Larry Nassar case, but DWTS is all about redemption. She comes out... and she’s extremely clunky. Very much a downgrade from Tonya. Len and Bruno saw some mistakes, but Carrie Ann loved it. She points out that she has to watch her feet during her drags (to make sure they don’t launch off the floor so as to be counted as a lift).

Scores: 6 | 7 | 6 = 19. I see Len’s being a bit generous now.

-

Milo & Witney: I’m gonna be honest - I HATED Zombies. Witney plunge him into a lightning round about zombies. I’m pretty sure it’s not that zombie he’s talking about. Also one thing of note: this is her youngest partner since Cody Simpson. THIS GUY IS AMAZING. The judges warn him to watch his limbs because he tends to get a bit gawky (I mean he’s tall) but he did a great job.

Scores: 7 | 6 | 7 = 20. Should have been a bit better...

-

Evanna & Keo: LUNA LOVEGOOD MY HARRY POTTER WIFE *.* Apparently she got rejected from three different dance schools, but that has got to mean she’s got skill. Just like Milo before, she comes out with such class and hits the ground running, with some table magic courtesy of Keo. Carrie Ann commends her trust with Keo but wants her to relax her shoulders. Bruno wants her to watch her free hand. Tons of Hogwarts references.

Scores: 7 | 5 | 6 = 18 POINTS TO RAVENCLAW. Tom sneakily calls Len Voldemort in the closing.

-

Danelle & Artem: Our first blind contestant! She won a bronze medal at the Paralympic Games. Her guide dog is so cute! While Artem is running her through the steps, she’s creating her own cues. It’s a bit slow going through it, but she has a lot of grace. Len commands Artem’s coaching, and Bruno advises her to use her ribcage to relax her shoulders.

Scores: 6 | 6 | 6 = 18. It’s a nice start.

-

Bobby & Sharna: Radio host, comedian, current American Idol mentor... tbh I’m not expecting much. He did okay, but he seemed WAY TOO OVEREXCITED. The judges take note of how crackedt he is but he's got an infectious energy. He’s still beyond crackedt. Erin can excuse it because that is Bruno every show.

Scores: 7 | 6 | 7 = 20. We finally have a competition here!

-

Juan Pablo & Cheryl: He was on Mamma Mia, never knew that! He’s worried that he’s going to embarrass his Fuller House castmates who were DWTS alumni. They tell him to just relax and to live in the moment. This salsa is extremely intricate and I can never tell what was going on. Carrie Ann wants him to stay relaxed, but the judges agree that the dance was HOT.

Scores: 7 | 7 | 8 = 22. Our first 8 of the night! He’s definitely a dark horse.

-

Nikki & Gleb: Nikki tells him that he looks like he’s about to climb out of a pool in slow motion. BuzzJack definitely agrees. This salsa took a WHILE to get going but then Nikki ripped Gleb’s shirt open and all hell broke loose. Len found her dancing too safe. Carrie Ann advises her to think about her entire body rather than just arms and legs.

Scores: 6 | 5 | 6 = 17. The dance was a bit tiring but it was okay.

-

Alexis & Alan: An Instagram model. Alan is taken aback by how many followers she has. Apparently she wants to do this in honor of her mom; this was her favorite show back in the day and she passed me away a while back. Now she was a surprise! Her flicks were very refined and while she made mistakes, as everyone does, she brought great energy. The judges were quite impressed with her dancing.

Scores: 7 | 7 | 7 = 21. A nice benchmark! Erin urges Alexis to get Alan some more followers.

-

John & Emma: Emma knows him from Dukes Of Hazzard, weird. John puts all of his trust in her and it’s kinda cute that they have some sort of father daughter relationship building already. I thought he was okay, although he kinda got lost in the end. Carrie thought he was a natural dancer but Len thought he was clunky the entire way through. He dances to his height, which was a good thing.

Scores: 7 | 5 | 6 = 18. Around the same as Evanna’s.

-

Tinashe & Brandon: He’s a new pro and she’s danced in other tours. HOLY SHIT. All of her steps were on point and they killed every moment. Not bad for Brandon’s first outing as a pro! Bruno thought she did well to stand out but not too much to overpower Brandon. Carrie Ann wants her to shine more.

Scores: 8 | 7 | 8 = 23. Highest score of the night!

-

Nancy & McKeon: So with no Derek, Mark or Maks to compete with, it seems like Val may have it easy. She seems a bit terrified about dancing for the first time. It’s a cute affair, nothing too special yet not a train wreck. Bruno notes how many facial expressions there were in the dance (Tom compares it to Lindsey and Mark last year). Carrie Ann loved that she told the story well.

Scores: 6 | 6 | 6 = 18. That might be Val’s lowest Week 1 score in a while.

-

Joe & Jenna: Who knew flipping in The Bachelorette can get you so far? Jenna’s in Bachelor Nation and she starts freaking out. He wants to start being Dancing Joe. God he’s so adorable. It’s a very light dance at first but then kicks it up a notch. I liked the part where Jenna jumps across him. The judges seem to be crushing on him, but Len points out that he lost it a bit at one point in the dance.

Scores: 5 | 4 | 5 = 14. Well that is horrendous.

-

DeMarcus & Lindsay: Another Super Bowl champion for Lindsay. They already have such good chemistry and she’s making him sweat a bit. He’s very swing-y with his limbs but he worked well with Lindsay and the dance just flowed effortlessly. Talk about ending the show on a high note! Carrie Ann notes that football players have such a legacy to uphold and that’s something DeMarcus is working against.

Scores: 8 | 7 | 8 = 23. Already nice scores!

-

Tomorrow: The Dancing continues on the second night of the two-night premiere, and after that, someone is going home..

Dance Ranking:

8 | 1.) Tinashe & Brandon

8 | 2.) DeMarcus & Lindsay

8 | 3.) Evanna & Keo

8 | 4.) Milo & Witney

7 | 5.) Alexis & Alan

7 | 6.) Juan Pablo & Cheryl

DWTS JUNIORS CAST LIST:

3. Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson & Tristan Ianiero (mentored by Artem Chigvintsev)

4. Akash Vukoti & Kamri Peterson (mentored by Witney Carson)

5. Sky Brown & JT Church (mentored by Alan Bersten)

6. Mandla Morris & Brightyn Brems (mentored by Cheryl Burke)

7. Sophia Pippen & Jake Monreal (mentored by Sasha Farber)

8. Hudson West & Kameron Couch (mentored by Hayley Erbert)

9. Mackenzie Ziegler & Sage Rosen (mentored by Gleb Savchenko)

10. Tripp Palin & Hailey Bills (mentored by Jenna Johnson)

11. Addison Osta Smith & Lev Khmelev (mentored by Keo Motsepe)

12. Jason Maybaum & Elliana Walmsley (mentored by Emma Slater)

Two Disney Channel Stars, two legendary legacies, a spelling bee champ, a soap star, Maddie’s sister, and Honey Boo Boo. This seems a bit stacked. Kenzie is the oldest contestant on the show, the kicker is she’s the same age as Willow Shields was when she joined DWTS! Also an interesting tidbit: Tripp’s mom Bristol Palin came third in DWTS eight years ago, so this is the first time we’ve had a former contestant’s child come on the show since Master P and Romeo.

Live from Hollywood, it’s the first DWTS results show of the season! The show starts with the pros dancing to The Greatest Show and we get some recaps. The kicker is... seven couples are safe, six couples will dance again to stay on the show.

-

First up; DeMarcus & Lindsay, Joe & Jenna, Nancy & Val, Tinashe & Brandon. Joe and Nancy in particular take their scores hard-ish, and we see Brandon’s first post-dance pep talk.

First pair safe is... DeMarcus & Lindsay!!!

Second pair sage is... Tinashe & Brandon!!!

Nancy & Val... are in jeopardy!!!

Joe & Jenna...

...

...

are safe!!!

Joe & Jenna safe is a HUGE shock considering his scores, but he does have Bachelor Nation on his side. (Right, Jordan?)

-

Next up is a showcase for the junior pros in Dancing Wih The Stars Juniors. Elliana in particular caught my eye.

Next up: John & Emma, Juan Pablo & Cheryl, Bobby & Sharna, Nikki & Gleb, Alexis & Alan. One of them was close to the top of the leaderboard, but will that matter here?

First one safe is... Juan Pablo & Cheryl!!!

First pair in jeopardy is... Nikki & Gleb!!!

John & Emma... are in jeopardy!!!

Bobby & Sharna... are SAFE!!!

Alexis & Alan...

...

...

are in jeopardy!!!

Also a bit surprised at Alexis in jeopardy - her scores were decent!

-

Next up, Evanna & Keo, Mary Lou & Sasha, Danelle & Artem, Milo & Witney. Two Russians, a zombie, and surprisingly no nargles! Watching Evanna’s dance again, I can see the tension in her shoulders. It’s also heartwarming to see Artem leading her to her mark. Danelle gets a video message from fellow Paralympian Amy Purdy.

First pair safe is... Milo & Witney!!!

First pair in jeopardy is... Danelle & Artem!!!

Evanna & Keo... are SAFE!!!

Mary Lou & Sasha...

...

...

are in jeopardy!!!

Expected results here. So glad Evanna made it through Week 1!

-

The spotlight turns to the judges. Len praises the pairs for an outstanding opening night and ushers in an encore performance from DeMarcus & Lindsay! We haven’t had encore performances in a while, so this is a nice surprise!

This results show also serves as the Dancing With The Stars Juniors launch show, and we get to meet the cast! Kenzie also performs her new single.

But first... one more couple is safe and that is...

...

...

John & Emma!!!

-

And the dance-off begins! This is the first time Dancing With The Stars has had some sort of dance-off even though it’s not the same format as Strictly.

(scores: Carrie Ann | Len | Bruno)

Mary Lou & Sasha: She’s not too intimidated by the judges but we still see a clip of her getting a tad frustrated. The dance opens with some acrobatics, but they hit the ground running. After the dance she dedicates the Donna Summer dance to the moms. Len commends her technique (straight legs!)

Scores: 7 | 7 | 7 = 21. A slight improvement from last night and we also see a smooch from Emma.

-

Danelle & Artem: Artem notices that she seems frightened throughout the entire rehearsal. The dance is nice but I don’t think Armin van Buuren is the right music for a foxtrot. While the judges noticed a mistake, they commended her for killing it throughout the rest of the dances.

Scores: 6 | 6 | 6 = 18. Around the same as last week.

-

Nikki & Gleb: Gleb notices how much she takes it seriously, and she notices that the next dance should be happier and more poppy. I sorta feel her having fun but it seemed very stiff throughout. Nikki didn’t notice Gleb unbuttoning his shirt. Carrie Ann warns her to watch her arms. Bruno tells her to use her hips more, which leads to some banter.

Scores: 6 | 6 | 6 = 18. A one-point improvement now!

-

Alexis & Alan: We go from cute to sexy. Something some of her Instagram followers would like. Alan’s here slide was HEAVEN ON EARTH. There wasn’t as much jive content as the last dance but it was still pretty fun. Len was surprised that she’s in jeopardy because she’s an amazing dancer.

Scores: 7 | 8 | 8 = 23. Wow, another improvement, ties Tinashe and DeMarcus from last week!

-

Nancy & Val: Val’s kinda feeling the pressure from not smashing right out the gate. Honestly a mood. While last night had some mistakes, it was pure, unadulterated fun, and this dance is no exception. The judges commended Nancy for keeping up with the challenging choreography, and Len adds that he loved the body contact.

Scores: 7 | 7 | 7 = 21. Right at the benchmark.

-

Elimination time!

First pair safe is... Danelle & Artem!!!

Next pair safe is... Alexis & Alan!!!

Third pair safe is... Mary Lou & Sasha!!!

Bottom Two: Nancy & Val, Nikki & Gleb. A bit shocking to see Val bottom 2 so early.

Eliminated: Nikki & Gleb. Kinda expected, also kinda shocked to see Gleb flop that badly! Hopefully he mentors Kenzie and Sage to the MBT to compensate for it.

-

Next week: Two more nights of dancing - New York Night on Monday and Las Vegas Night the next day!

Dance Ranking:

8 | 1.) Alexis & Alan

8 | 2.) Nancy & Val

7 | 3.) Danelle & Artem

6 | 4.) Mary Lou & Sasha

6 | 5.) Nikki & Gleb
