single What About Now is now Gold certified by BPI, I heard yesterday. Their first since the platinum selling You raise me up in 2005 and Uptown Girl in 2001. First gold since 2000 What Makes a Man.

I love all these pics, you can clearly see just how happy they are that they are back together which is great considering they admitted how miserable they were near the end, until they actually decided to call it a day so they started to enjoy touring again.

Its definitely not a rumor. Westlife themselves said in their first interview how the key of their comback was Ed Sheeran. He even listened to their Greatest Hits album so he could get to know their sound better.

Hasn't he previously said he was a fan?? I know Chris Martin was as well.

Looking forward to getting tickets Tomorrow, praying for good seats....was up in the gods last time.

I know of Chris martin and even Robert Pattinson but I haven't heard that Ed is a fan :D Of course, fan or not, the fact that he listened to their GH means he wants to still capture the Westlife sound which is good. Ed co-wrote with Steve Mac a new single for Olly Murs which I really like so hopefully Westlife's will also be great.

they just confirmed their first single is uptempo and not a ballad

Jenny Greene said it was brilliant and amazing

Ed and Steve wrote songs for Westlife organically, they do not know Westlife was about to return when they wrote those songs for Westlife

Great stuff!

Couldn't get tickets this morning, not happy

So excited.... Cant wait for the new single to hit the radios....!

Revealing just how keen Ed was for the group to re-form, Shane revealed the hitmaker had actually written a number of songs for the band before they even decided to get back together – two years ago.

‘Before we knew we were getting back together, he [Ed Sheeran] had wrote songs for Westlife with Steve Mac,’ Mark revealed.

‘He told us when he was younger, he used to learn how to play the guitar to the Westlife greatest hit album.’

most likely the upcoming songs were done the same time Shape of you was done.

I remember some westlife fans heard ed said on itunes festival to put their hands up in the air like they were listening to Westlife songs.

Last year band members Kian Egan, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, and Nicky Byrne approached long-time Westlife collaborator Steve Mac, who had penned and produced several of their hits including Flying Without Wings and Swear It Again, to write new music.

“He was writing with Ed Sheeran who turned around to him one day in a songwriting session and said, ‘I'd love to write a Westlife style song’, and they went off and wrote a Westlife style song,” revealed Kian.

“We didn’t know any of this was happening and we got back together, behind closed doors, and went to see Steve and he played us a few songs and he was like, ‘This is actually an Ed song that Ed wrote saying he wanted to write a Westlife style song.”

Nicky revealed that he had had a conversation with Kian two years ago about reforming and his concerns about “where Westlife’s music fits into the current market” and not wanting to be simply a “nostalgia” act.

“[i said] we need Ed Sheeran or someone of that ilk. Little did we know Ed was in the background saying, “I want to write a Westlife tune’,” he said.

“Really there was only two people who could get Westlife back out of bed – Steve Mac and Ed Sheeran, and we’re in that position, thankfully.”

Kian said that fans would be “taken aback” by the new track while Shane added, “it’s exactly where Westlife need to be.”

I love how Kian sounds hungry and eager to be bigger than before, that they know themselves they have to do things diffferently. I know people are annoyed that the album is possibly coming in September 2019 but its great that they are not rushing anything, it means they care to do it right.
