Posted November 5, 20186 yr 4th November 2018 It's a brand new entry and debut for Black Atlass, a fellow-Canadian signing of The Weeknd, former chart-topper here too. Moody, moving and soulful, pretty much like most of my current top 10. That keeps off 2005 oldie Need You Tonite at 3, Judie Tzuke peaking originally at 13 in 1979 with the lushly orchestrated Stay With Me Till Dawn fabness, finally getting the chart position it deserves as part of the backbone to the track. The Knocks get a second top 20, as do Sofi Tukker. Or should that be as does Sofi Tukker? Grammar and band names gets to be SO confusing sometimes. F'rinstance I just found out 48 years late that the Carpenters' are actually Carpenters. No "the" unless you are referring to the family members of the band as opposed to a recording brand, presumably. One doesn't after all say The Abba, or The U2 or The Queen. So, Carpenters have a new RPO strings-pottered new album coming out and the 1973 Yesterday Once More returns 45 years later to my chart after peaking at 2 first-time round, and Carpenters join Eurythmics and Pet Shop Boys as just a few of the bands that keep getting the superflous "the" when being talked about on the radio and in life generally. In at 21, it's Paramour drummer Zac Farro under a pseudonym. Or should that be The Paramour's drummer...? I give up! Jonas Blue gets 2 top 40 entries in one fell swoop, while Meghan Trainor nearly does it too. Or should that be MEGHAN TRAINOR as it says on the label? Sorry MEGHAN I'm bored with shouty text unless it's the song title (to differentiate it from the act, as was once the traditional norm in music press song charts back when I started charting, unless bold was used instead, song first, act second) or an acronym or initials. Thus endeth the historical English lesson. In at 60, The Rocky Horror Picture Show classic, some 43 years late, but one I hear most years and about time it charted, courtesy of selling on itunes for Halloween. Clean Bandit pull in Marina for some Luis Fonzi-themed Spanish-flavoured delight, or Henry Winkler as he used to be known on Happy Days about the same time as Rocky Horror debuted. Probably. Heyyyyyy! Co-star Ron Howard just Directed Solo: A Star Wars story. I think Clean Bandit also did the theme tune to that one.... Probably. Two 90's boybands both return, Take That not unexpectedly as they've had loads of chart entries here over the years, Boyzone less so: it's been 5 years since the last one. The Prodigy are another returning 90's act, with the very early-The-Prodigy-sounding We Live Forever. Don't forget the "The" on Prodigy or the name makes less sense. Finally, Panic! At The Disco get a 4th chart entry of the year (that exclamation mark really should be at the end of the name if it's a description statement, though if it's an order surely (At The Disco) should be in brackets?). Act of the year either way, Brendan Urie has even managed to put a The Greatest Showman song into my chart now - I have yet to see the film and have resisted all of the hit songs from it to date, but Brendan knows how to do musicals to my tastes. Melodrama! OTT! Panic!
