December 17, 20186 yr Funky Friday - I was so glad when this went to #1. He really hasn't disappointed with any of his releases since Wanna Know for me. Solo - This peaked at 13 for me to but I really got bored of it after a week and it only managed 1 more week in my chart  Decline - I was really liking this but I do think it was just because I loved the Ja Rule track Check - Good but pretty forgettable with most of the other UK rap songs this year. Chun-Li - The instrumental really made this track for me. Much better than the Barbie Dreamz one that was released at the same time. Don't Matter To Me - It was so good to hear MJ again; he sounds so good on this. I much prefer this to In My Feelings. I also loved Havana, MotorSport & Man's Not Hot last year
December 17, 20186 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2018 | #141-150 YouTube links provided # . Above & Beyond ~ Naked (feat. Justine Suissa) Date entered: 02/02/18 Chart sales: 364,800 Chart run: 13-10-16-17-19-49-49-57-x [8 weeks] Justine's voice is just heavenly and it's another great trance song from A&B, who have 7 songs in the top 150. # . Loud Luxury ~ Love No More (feat. anders) Date entered: 07/09/18 Chart sales: 367,300 Chart run: 52-59-52-37-15-15-21-27-31-33-36-55-67-… [13+ weeks] A solid follow-up to their major breakthrough hit 'Body' which we'll get to in the top 100. Shame this ended up doing nothing after an initial good start on Spotify (and it even made the official UK top 100 for one week), but it had the problem of 'Body' still being rather big. # . Jus Now and Dismantle ~ Fire (Spotie) (feat. Busy Signal) Date entered: 01/12/17 Chart sales: 370,400 Chart run: 47-17-17-20-62-15-22-34-28-54-x [10 weeks] With a great horn sample and banging beat what's not to love? Busy Signal shouting all over it maybe, though he adds extra energy that wasn't there in the instrumental mix. # . Rita Ora ~ Let You Love Me Date entered: 28/09/18 Chart sales: 371,000 Chart run: 18-13-12-14-15-25-32-34-45-32-… [10+ weeks] That 2nd album did finally come and though I wasn't a big fan of the ATs it had a mostly solid set of singles, this is another great pop song though not quite up with 'Anywhere' and 'Lonely Together' which we'll see much higher up the chart. # . Armand Van Helden vs. Butter Rush ~ I Need A Painkiller [#187, 2017] Date entered: 06/10/17 Chart sales: 372,200 (696,600 total) Chart run: 29-21-25-23-28-23-27-30-30-37-38-49-x-39-40-48-58-93-86-x [10 weeks (18 total)] House legend Armand Van Helden still has it, if only he experienced a similar revival to MK in the chart because this would make for an amazing chart hit. With house diva vocals and a catchy groove, it's an undeniable banger.# . Ryan Blyth ~ Raise a Glass (feat. BB Diamond) Date entered: 11/05/18 Chart sales: 373,700 Chart run: 43-46-42-24-24-36-37-42-52-75-93-x [11 weeks] Sampling 'Disco's Revenge' was of course going to go down well for me, and we get to hear BB's great vocal again too. # . Don Diablo ~ Give Me Love (feat. Calum Scott) Date entered: 16/02/18 Chart sales: 374,000 Chart run: 22-20-25-28-30-45-53-53-65-79-x [10 weeks] Calum Scott, I know. Though to be fair his voice is so processed much of the time. Don Diablo does a great job of making him sound good. # . Ariana Grande ~ No Tears Left To Cry Date entered: 27/04/18 Chart sales: 374,800 Chart run: 30-11-13-19-20-21-25-37-36-40-51-69-83-x [13 weeks] Here's the other token pop hit of the batch, this was a great comeback anyhow, and I'm not a huge fan of hers so this is currently her biggest chart hit here. # . Sandro Cavazza ~ High With Somebody (feat. P3GI-13) Date entered: 13/04/18 Chart sales: 375,100 Chart run: 60-61-95-97-62-49-36-23-27-39-63-70-75-86-x [14 weeks] Sandro you may recognise from featuring on a few Avicii songs, well he proved he could make a song half as good without him with this light bop (then 'Happy Now' happened months later, which will most definitely be in next year's top 100). # . Joe Stone and Cr3on ~ Is It Really Love Date entered: 30/03/18 Chart sales: 380,400 Chart run: 84-84-77-85-x-29-23-22-26-38-62-69-74-96-x [13 weeks] Another Joe Stone one and this samples 'How Will I Know' though is very much 'Take Me To The Clouds Above' influenced. A great future house bop anyhow. Personal recommendation 8jWDQqYO9BQ The chart so far can be enjoyed on Spotify. What are your favourites from the chart so far? Any comments are appreciated.
December 17, 20186 yr Love No More was WAY better than Body for me, I have a real issue with liking the follow up singles of dance acts more than their hits (Justice for LF - Reality, NEIKED - Call Me, Kungs - Don't You Know etc. ) Giving High With Somebody a listen now, the tune on the whole is really good but that whistling is incredibly grating!
December 18, 20186 yr Author I didn't like Diamond Heart at first but it's really grown on me, not enough to chart in my EOY though :( Giving CYBERPUNK a listen, quite liking this one as well! Not my usual 'type' of music but I could see it being on my playlist. His whole album is rather good too. It's an interesting song. Funky Friday and I'm Upset are okay Glad to see someone else who likes Ratio. I Like It? I Like It! I heard Immaterial on an NME list of Best Songs Of 2018 so far. It sounds really good. Solo, Focus and Motorsport are pretty good Man's Not Hot. One of my favourite memes of 2017. Decline and Check are decent. Batshit is a fun song Symphony, Havana and Chun Li are some other good ones. I Could Be The One is a modern dance classic. Tim Berg, may you rest in peace. Filthy has been panned by quite a lot of reviewers, but I myself like it.thanks for the comments! Avicii has a lot of modern dance classics, ICBTO doesn't seem to be as remembered as some of his others but still a top tune from him. Symphony is an absolute masterpiece  they'll never top that I agree I was a bit disappointed with the Drake x MJ track, didn't ever return to it after I heard it on the Chart Show Glad to see some Filthy appreciation here!Well I thought they'd never top Rather Be but I really can't see Symphony ever getting topped, it's absolutely brilliant. I think MJ really helped it here, if it was just Drake it'd most likely have not done much, it's not one of his absolute greats. I would probably put Filthy a bit lower on an opinion only chart, but it is rather good anyway. I forgot Filthy was a top 3 hit for you *.* Still a good song albeit not great compared to the FS/LS it tried to replicate I Could Be The One still slays  RIP King, looking forward to seeing what else of his charts higher upThere's no topping that era for him, it was nice to have a bit of a throwback to that sound before he went all country on us anyhow. Avicii has 6 songs left; 2 of the proper classics, 3 from the last EP and 1 from his unreleased material. Funky Friday - I was so glad when this went to #1. I also loved Havana, MotorSport & Man's Not Hot last year :wub:I'm not so much of a fan, wasn't interested in the EP other than 'No Words', and 'Hangman' was disappointing also, but if 'Funky Friday' is anything to go by, he could end up being one of my fave rappers. I really thought I'd get into Solo more than I did hence the reasonably high debut, it is good but dropped off rather quickly here in comparison to the few previous songs ('I Miss You' is yet to come in this EOY) I initially charted Barbie Tingz higher (Barbie Dreams is a different track!) but that fell off fast once Chun Li was made the proper single (and the right choice was made there too) I think MJ really helped the Drake track here, if it was just Drake it'd most likely have not done much, it's not one of his absolute greats. Love No More was WAY better than Body for me, I have a real issue with liking the follow up singles of dance acts more than their hits (Justice for LF - Reality, NEIKED - Call Me, Kungs - Don't You Know etc. ) Giving High With Somebody a listen now, the tune on the whole is really good but that whistling is incredibly grating!I usually like the big hits more (I mean they get big for a reason), and it's true here too, 'Body' is at least 100 places ahead of 'Love No More'. Don't mind the whistling myself, and yeah it's a nice tune. You may like his newer single 'Used To' also.
December 18, 20186 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2018 | #131-140 YouTube links provided # . Purple Disco Machine ~ Dished (Male Stripper) Date entered: 24/08/18 Chart sales: 381,500 Chart run: 54-68-65-83-77-39-16-19-35-44-56-x [11 weeks] Took a while for this to properly grow but it's a very groovy song, was great to hear it on R1 often too. # . Lucas & Steve ~ Where Have You Gone (Anywhere) Date entered: 20/07/18 Chart sales: 382,000 Chart run: 49-77-92-x-37-29-20-16-19-20-26-26-… [11+ weeks] Originally an instrumental, it re-charted after the vocal mix was released. Lucas & Steve are great at delivering the house bops and this is no exception, their tunes like these are very much made to be hits but they don't resort to the cheap "Spotify" sound. We'll hear from them again much later on. # . Nora En Pure ~ Sphinx Date entered: 16/02/18 Chart sales: 382,900 Chart run: 40-46-52-21-21-23-41-41-50-76-x [10 weeks] One of my fave producers of the moment, and in an era where deep house rarely impresses me she just gets it right consistently. This is another solid tune, though I was still very much into 'Trailblazer' at the time (which we'll see a lot later on) so it could only go so high. # . Purple Haze ~ Choir 1.0 Date entered: 09/03/18 Chart sales: 384,200 Chart run: 34-35-25-42-42-51-43-81-71-89-90-97-x [12 weeks] The first of two BJSC entries here, I always love a trance song and this particularly stands out for the middle section where the music cuts out just for the vocal effect (which reminds me of that Lloyds advert). # . Sub Focus and Dimension ~ Desire Date entered: 21/09/18 Chart sales: 385,900 Chart run: 100-75-70-29-18-9-5-9-10-11-16-… [11+ weeks] We haven't really heard much from Sub Focus over the past few years so of course his team up with Dimension (fresh off his BJSC entry) was going to be a hit with me. This is a standout drum n' bass tune, which we haven't had from Sub Focus in a while so I'm willing to bet Dimension really made it stand out, I'd say he's top of this genre at the moment, you can just hear how well his tracks are produced. His 'Black Church' of course we'll see very high up. # . Diplo and Mark Ronson presents Silk City ~ Only Can Get Better (feat. Daniel Merriweather) Date entered: 01/06/18 Chart sales: 387,100 Chart run: 62-82-x-90-76-92-87-89-37-39-41-55-81-x [12 weeks] This was the first song of this collaboration project so I wasn't sure what to expect, and turns out it was a rather groovy house tune and better than anything we'd heard from Diplo or Mark Ronson in a while (and to be fair, Mark Ronson seemingly vanished after 'Uptown Funk', it was about time he came back). Nice to know Daniel is still alive too though his vocal is processed to the point of unrecognisability, which lets it down somewhat. Subsequent releases from Silk City were disappointing until of course they saved their best production and writing skills for 'Electricity', which we'll get to, perhaps sooner than you think. # . Katty Heath ~ Connection Through Sound Date entered: 28/09/18 Chart sales: 393,800 Chart run: 27-23-21-22-18-15-18-19-24-25-… [10+ weeks] Another BJSC entry, and one I strongly recommend if you weren't in that contest, as an energetic vocal trance song I was always going to reward it highly. Katty previously appeared on a #2 hit with 4 Strings here but had been absent for years, and I wasn't looking for any of her material so a discovery this certainly is. It's got a lovely sentiment and her vocal is great, as is the production which I presume she did also. # . Beatsole ~ Before I Wake Date entered: 01/12/17 Chart sales: 395,500 Chart run: 42-41-45-35-100-23-24-35-48-63-65-96-x [12 weeks] Another random trance song (there's quite a few of these), this one's instrumental but accompanied by a strong melody. It's Beatsole's only hit here thus far, the rest of his material hasn't stood out so much. # . Above & Beyond ~ Is It Love? (1001) Date entered: 02/02/18 Chart sales: 399,000 Chart run: 27-26-29-33-39-39-54-97-75-75-95-83-x [12 weeks] Another batch which means we're due another A&B album track! This one is a great example of progressive trance, which they do so well. # . Travis Scott ~ Sicko Mode (feat. Drake) Date entered: 10/08/18 Chart sales: 399,800 Chart run: 53-58-68-74-58-75-70-71-82-86-x-34-40-43-48-49-29-… [16+ weeks] Such an ambitious song with it having 3 completely different productions but it blends so well, Drake's verse is already so iconic too and one of the best things he's been involved on all year (and yes I am giving him the credit). The great video for this sent it back in the chart at a new peak and the tune still sound really fresh so it could even out-peak itself in the new year. Travis is proving himself to be one of the better rappers of the current era too, especially in an era where 6ix9ine and Lil Pump are big names. I should probably check the album sometime. Personal recommendation CkkR5_bNbxU The chart so far can be enjoyed on Spotify. What are your favourites from the chart so far? Any comments are appreciated.
December 18, 20186 yr Let You Love Me is decent. I Need A Painkiller, Dished and Only Can Get Better are some great dance choons. No Tears Left To Cry really grew on me after listening to her Sweetener album. It has become a possible contender for my favourite hit songs of 2018. Sicko Mode is a great song and I would recommend the album.
December 18, 20186 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2018 | #121-130 YouTube links provided # . Just Kiddin ~ Indiana Date entered: 23/02/18 Chart sales: 406,900 Chart run: 73-82-97-65-36-31-32-33-40-75-70-85-97-99-x [14 weeks] A solid dance pop bop from JK who appear to be semi-consistent, they also have 'Hysteria' currently in my chart though it's this that is my fave of theirs so far. # . Estiva ~ Alive Date entered: 03/08/18 Chart sales: 408,500 Chart run: 61-49-37-40-25-30-42-48-53-60-73-95-95-x [13 weeks] Another tune discovered from the series of trance compilations Armin van Buuren does, this one is very... lively. # . Avicii ~ Enough Is Enough Date entered: 18/05/18 Chart sales: 411,300 Chart run: 6-7-7-8-8-13-20-32-40-66-x [10 weeks] One of his many unreleased tracks, this one dates from 2011, though a HQ version was published on YouTube a few days following his death. It's just as good as much of his released material though, it's the housey Avicii we know and love, with a strong vocal (I can't confirm who sang it so she'll remain uncredited), melodic build and drop. Would strongly recommend if you enjoy 'I Could Be The One'. # . Kiesza vs. Chris Malinchak ~ Mother Date entered: 09/02/18 Chart sales: 412,200 Chart run: 24-17-22-29-32-32-37-49-49-84-94-x [11 weeks] The most unlikely collaboration project of 2018 has to be Kiesza and Chris Malinchak, who now have made a number of songs together including two Christmas songs, one of which sits at #1 as I type. This was the first of those anyhow, and they're great for each other. Kiesza doesn't even do her usual vocal acrobatics on this song too which is refreshing, and it's got a unique beat and catchy bassline. # . BlocBoy JB ~ Look Alive (feat. Drake) Date entered: 16/02/18 Chart sales: 415,500 Chart run: 15-10-10-17-24-40-50-50-69-80-x [10 weeks] The credits may as well have been reversed as it's Drake who really steals the song, and Tay Keith on production who really made a name for himself with this too (he also did part 3 of Sicko Mode). Poor BlocBoy JB has already been forgotten about it seems, though his verse is inessential anyway. # . Marshmello ~ Happier (feat. Bastille) Date entered: 22/08/18 Chart sales: 415,700 Chart run: 83-67-61-69-72-64-35-31-31-39-44-45-41-50-56-… [15+ weeks] I'm not so keen on Marshmello but he can prove himself occasionally such as on this, though the production isn't particularly outstanding it's a solid pop song, very much helped by Dan Smith (who at this point is basically one and the same as Bastille). # . Andrew Rayel and David Gravell ~ Trance ReBorn (FYH100 Anthem) Date entered: 16/03/18 Chart sales: 418,200 Chart run: 41-28-20-20-24-25-63-43-66-69-84-80-80-99-x [14 weeks] The title says it all, it's a proper trance anthem. Andrew Rayel has quickly cemented himself as one of my faves in the genre, and you may know him from BJSC entry 'Horizon' which we'll see later on. # . Jean-Michel Blais and CFCF ~ Hypocrite Date entered: 27/07/18 Chart sales: 420,000 Chart run: 13-25-27-34-31-30-39-55-62-74-x [10 weeks] From BJSC, a brilliant classical-electronic crossover. The piano is the highlight (I just love the sound of the instrument) but CFCF provide a strong backing which really adds to the atmosphere. I love all the dynamic shifts in it too, and for such a repetitive piece they really do their best to keep you hooked. # . Route 94 ~ House & Pressure [#147, 2017] Date entered: 01/09/17 Chart sales: 420,700 (828,400 total) Chart run: 68-82-78-77-87-75-71-64-52-46-42-26-18-18-22-26-50-x-43-46-51-57-70-83-97-92-x [12 weeks (25 total)] I didn't expect to get into Route 94's new stuff ever since he gave up making commercial house, but this one really gets lodged into your head after a few listens. One of the few minimal house songs that actually works. This'd be well inside the top 40 if the chart run wasn't split down the middle between years, I don't think it's quite top 40 worthy but it's a bit of a tune anyhow (I recommend the Spotify edit, which isn't on YouTube). He hasn't had a hit since. # . Freejak and Safety First ~ Closer Than Close (feat. BB Diamond) [#95, 2017] Date entered: 01/09/17 Chart sales: 421,200 (993,900 total) Chart run: 50-27-15-10-10-11-11-11-12-12-10-13-14-15-25-31-65-x-42-45-47-56-69-72-94-99-x [12 weeks (25 total)] You may recognise this song as a 90s hit for Rosie Gaines. Well this version brings it bang up to date with a modern house beat and vocals from BB Diamond which make for a proper banger of a tune. I'd love to hear more of her on dance tracks. Unfortunately this got barely any attention though I did discover it off it being featured on a dance compilation. Not much else to say really as the track is fronted by two anonymous house producers, though Freejak was seen in the chart before on a Mr. Belt & Wezol track.Needless to say, neither producer has had a hit since. Tune tho. Personal recommendation jYUvzH4tCkA The chart so far can be enjoyed on Spotify. What are your favourites from the chart so far? Any comments are appreciated.
December 18, 20186 yr Good BJSC picks there, Connection Through Sound is a beaut. Sicko Mode I should have liked more but it did feel a bit disjointed at times. The "like a light" part is memorable though. Happier is such a fantastic song, will be very high up in my chart.
December 18, 20186 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2018 | #111-120 YouTube links provided #120. Lika Morgan ~ Lady Marmelade Date entered: 26/01/18 Chart sales: 424,800 Chart run: 73-60-70-62-38-34-45-55-61-71-71-89-96-x [13 weeks] Back again with another deep house reworking, and yes that is how she decided to spell marmalade. # . Christine and the Queens ~ Girlfriend (feat. Dâm-Funk) Date entered: 25/05/18 Chart sales: 425,000 Chart run: 24-15-15-20-28-31-37-48-53-79-x [10 weeks] It seems she's only limited to one good song per era, but this is great, like the retro production and groove to it. # . Dennis Lloyd ~ Nevermind Date entered: 20/04/18 Chart sales: 426,700 Chart run: 74-x-98-51-46-49-65-82-76-68-70-76-80-x [12 weeks] It's not often we have a chill house esque track chart so was good to see this crossover. Never was a huge fan of it but it's a solid tune. # . Calvin Harris ~ Nuh Ready Nuh Ready (feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR) Date entered: 16/02/18 Chart sales: 427,900 Chart run: 2-2-5-9-14-31-44-44-62-88-x [10 weeks] Quite an odd song by Calvin's standards, and though it just about works I'm glad he went back to the more commercial stuff because it's better. PARTYNEXTDOOR isn't that great of a rapper anyhow but it's a bouncy track and deserves a bit more credit than it was given. # . Post Malone ~ Better Now Date entered: 04/05/18 Chart sales: 430,600 Chart run: 56-40-40-45-39-49-61-46-41-39-46-54-73-89-x [14 weeks] One of the better hip hop acts of today, this was another solid single from him, it is basically an improved 'I Fall Apart' which is only a good thing. # . N.E.R.D. ~ Lemon (feat. Rihanna) Date entered: 10/11/17 Chart sales: 430,700 (570,800 total) Chart run: 13-8-11-13-15-18-21-63-22-29-42-41-62-78-x [11 weeks (14 total)] We have to take what we can get with Rihanna releases these days, and this is her only appearance as she's had literally no 2018 releases. :drama: Thankfully this is a cool song, love the bouncy production and Rihanna's rapping (we need more RiRi raps next year) # . Above & Beyond ~ Cold Feet (feat. Justine Suissa) Date entered: 02/02/18 Chart sales: 430,700 Chart run: 29-28-37-42-40-73-77-50-36-34-36-48-86-x [13 weeks] Another great A&B track, this one was a bit of a grower having originally debuted as one of the lower charting songs. #113. Paul Simon ~ Homeless (Joris Voorn Remix) Date entered: 08/06/18 Chart sales: 430,900 Chart run: 4-4-5-8-14-17-39-54-65-81-x [10 weeks] A lovely remix from Joris Voorn, and it may as well be his song too. Haven't taken much notice of him before but this really hit me on first listen, love the vibe of it. # . M-22 ~ First Time (feat. Medina) Date entered: 18/05/18 Chart sales: 438,600 Chart run: 45-46-31-37-49-66-51-55-52-67-80-76-74-87-93-x [15 weeks] M-22 had two minor hits in 2015 and I thought they'd disappeared off the face of the Earth so I was very surprised to see this suddenly make waves on the Spotify chart, and of course, it is rather great too. Not one of the absolute best dance chart hits but I'll take what I can get, it's a bop and the UK chart is in desperate need of dance hits! Their follow up was nearly as good too (it appeared at #175) so hopefully they stick around and stay consistent with the tunes. # . Avicii ~ Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc) [#01, 2013] Date entered: 17/06/13 Chart sales: 450,200 (3,012,800 total) :plat: :plat: Chart run: 1-4-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-4-2-1-3-4-10-7-16-15-21-28-34-22-18-18-43-45-6-17-24-42-43-49-45-38-26-46-x-3-17-19-21-28-43-45-58-61-64-79-92-x [12 weeks (50 total)] Currently the 3rd highest 'selling' song in my chart history, and what I consider to be my 2nd favourite song ever, this shot back up to #3 following his death and also back in the UK top 40 which was nice to see. Sadly it's a near miss for the EOY top 100 but it's already cemented its place in Thermo's hot hits history; as you may've guessed, it was my #1 in the 2013 EOY chart. It's a fairly sad listen in today's context with its lyrics, though I still really love the song. I'll leave myself from 5 years ago to elaborate... And in the end it wasn't even close as Avicii storms to victory with 'Wake Me Up', the lead single from True. Similarly to Daft Punk, my first reaction to this song wasn't a good one. I was linked to a radio rip of the song and I wasn't impressed that he had left his Levels/I Could Be the One sound for a more country styled dance record - but it was love at first listen when the high quality version was out, and it shot to #1 on my chart where it would stay for 8 n/c weeks, with 18 total weeks in the top 10 including those 8. It was also a monster hit in the UK, where it was the fastest selling single of the year (even faster than Blurred Lines and Get Lucky which have outsold it in the long run), and it stopped 'Best Song Ever' from going to #1 :D I grew to love the folk/country vibes in the song, even though I hate the genre. Other good features of the song include Aloe's vocals, the great lyrics and obviously Avicii's production especially in the drop. It fails to tire on me, it's just that good. LOVE LOVE LOVE! And even better, I'll be seeing him DJ live in February of next year *.* Can't wait to hear this song on really loud speakers, it'll be a proper moment for me. 2013 has certainly been the year of Avicii so it is only appropriate that he has the #1 album and #1 single, this is the first time an act has done this in my year-end chart. December 19, 20186 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2018 | #101-110 YouTube links provided # . Roger Martin ~ Found Love (feat. Maurice) Date entered: 08/06/18 Chart sales: 452,500 Chart run: 99-x-83-52-41-27-25-17-27-28-30-34-39-44-60-73-92-x [16 weeks] A dance reworking of the 90s hit which was brought to my attention from the Love Island advert, which is the only thing that's good for. # . G-Eazy ~ No Limit (feat. A$AP Rocky and Cardi B) Date entered: 08/12/17 Chart sales: 460,000 Chart run: 79-76-97-x-50-48-23-27-33-39-59-69-81-82-x [13 weeks] Not too fond of G-Eazy so this was surprisingly great, no doubt helped by the guest rappers though, it's one of Cardi's best verses particularly. # . Denis Kenzo and Kate Miles ~ Guide Date entered: 14/09/18 Chart sales: 460,900 Chart run: 38-35-24-27-25-30-12-7-10-11-12-12-… [12+ weeks] A lovely vocal trance song, again from Armada where I get most of my trance discoveries from these days. It's quite subtle but a reasonably quick grower. # . TheFatRat ~ Oblivion (feat. Lola Blanc) Date entered: 03/11/17 Chart sales: 461,200 (665,700 total) Chart run: 7-9-11-12-22-20-25-43-x-34-37-41-50-57-63-90-98-x [12 weeks (16 total)] Released just a little too early to make the top 100 unfortunately but another great song from TheFatRat. It doesn't have an amazing drop like a few others he's done but it's a nice listen. # . Roman Messer ~ Fireflies (feat. Christina Novelli) Date entered: 23/02/18 Chart sales: 463,400 Chart run: 70-50-42-37-27-29-30-28-36-74-49-78-83-88-95-96-x [16 weeks] Another vocal trance song, Christina always does a great vocal and the production is rather great too. # . Eelke Kleijn ~ Shed My Skin (feat. Therese) [#141, 2017] Date entered: 08/09/17 Chart sales: 463,900 (882,500) Chart run: 100-79-71-55-23-24-26-32-33-26-31-26-27-32-35-47-x-38-39-43-43-48-58-87-79-78-x [13 weeks (25 total)] Really like the airy feel of Therese's vocal here, and a really good deep house production from Eelke Kleijn. It's not often you can say a deep house song has maximal production but this one does, there's lots of things going on. Also; Therese of Stonebridge fame getting a Thermo hit single in 2017. *_# . Rita Ora and Liam Payne ~ For You (Fifty Shades Freed) Date entered: 12/01/18 Chart sales: 470,400 Chart run: 20-9-19-39-42-48-37-44-71-83-85-x [11 weeks] As both a Liam Payne and 50 Shades franchise song this was surprisingly good, though with Rita Ora taking the lead here and reasonably upbeat production I could very much get into this. # . Young Romantic ~ Move (Time To Get Loose) Date entered: 22/08/18 Chart sales: 474,600 Chart run: 78-61-43-47-37-25-14-13-13-24-36-40-38-48-62-… [15+ weeks] Taking the same sample as Nero did on 'Must Be The Feeling' and giving it a disco lo-fi sound, it surprisingly made it even better. # . Sigala ~ Just Got Paid (feat. Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor and French Montana) Date entered: 14/09/18 Chart sales: 475,100 Chart run: 9-7-8-7-7-8-8-10-13-12-17-15-… [12+ weeks] Very unlucky and unfortunately this does just miss the top 100 (one more week and it'd have got in). It's not the classic Sigala sound but he does his best to reinvent his style here with a great nu-disco effort that sounds very uplifting, perfectly capturing the feeling of getting some monayyyyy. Ella has an outstanding vocal just as she did on 'Came Here For Love' (at this point they should just regularly collab cos her solo career is clearly never happening), and though I'd have taken a lot of people over Meghan Trainor and French Montana here they don't detract from the song either. # . Drake ~ In My Feelings Date entered: 13/07/18 Chart sales: 479,300 Chart run: 63-12-21-20-10-10-17-19-23-30-32-41-50-64-80-x [15 weeks] And getting the ultimately unlucky position this year is Drake, though he can't complain as he has two songs yet to come. 'In My Feelings' was not an instant stand-out when the album came out, and to be fair it was tough for anything to stand out on such a long album other than the current singles (and that MJ track for having MJ on it), though once the challenge took off and the song shot to #1 everywhere I was very much into it myself. It does feel like a slightly lesser 'Nice For What' but nonetheless it's a bop, the hook is so catchy, and it's refreshing to have Drake bring 'bounce' (supposedly the rap sub genre this is) to the charts with almost everyone else doing trap. December 19, 20186 yr Author Let You Love Me is decent. I Need A Painkiller, Dished and Only Can Get Better are some great dance choons. No Tears Left To Cry really grew on me after listening to her Sweetener album. It has become a possible contender for my favourite hit songs of 2018. Sicko Mode is a great song and I would recommend the album.I'll give the Travis Scott album a listen sometime I think. Probably won't with the Ariana album, if the title track is anything to go by for the album tracks. Good BJSC picks there, Connection Through Sound is a beaut. Sicko Mode I should have liked more but it did feel a bit disjointed at times. The "like a light" part is memorable though. Happier is such a fantastic song, will be very high up in my chart.CTS is so good, glad it got a top 20 position too. I kinda like the disjointedness of it, it works reasonably well. Drake's part is definitely the best anyway. It's great though not my fave of Marshmello's so far, 'Alone' was really great and that should've smashed for him, and out of his UK hits, 'Wolves' is my fave though 'Happier' not too far behind.
December 19, 20186 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2018 | HOT 100 TEASERS It's that time of the year now where we've got up to the Hot 100 reveal, the 100 songs that defined the year in Thermo's hot hits. Before then let's take a little look at what we'll be seeing. Multiple appearances 4x - Above & Beyond, Avicii 3x - Calvin Harris, Chicane, Disclosure, Jax Jones, Jess Glynne, Post Malone 2x - Alex Mills, Armin van Buuren, Au/Ra, CamelPhat, CLiQ, Dua Lipa, Dragonette, Drake, EDX, MK, Mr. Belt & Wezol, Nora En Pure, Rita Ora, Rosalee O'Connell, Sigala, Shapov, Sonny Fodera, SZA, TheFatRat, Zoe Johnston Number of UK Top 40 hit singles in the Top 40 -> 13 Number of UK Top 40 hit singles in the Top 100 -> 34 Number of Personal Number One singles -> 20 Number of Personal Top 3 hit singles -> 39 Number of Personal Top 5 hit singles -> 54 Number of Personal Top 10 hit singles -> 70 Number of Personal Top 20 hit singles -> 89 Number of Personal Top 40 hit singles -> 98 Number of Personal Top 50 hit singles -> 100 That's down 8 from last year in the UK top 40 hit singles count, oops, and some of them aren't from 2018! Hopefully there's enough songs you all know to keep you interested here anyhow.
December 19, 20186 yr We've got to the Top 100 pretty quickly :o Mother was a tune, the resemblance to a nursery rhyme was a bit creepy but it was such an earworm! I spy some nice BJSC entries in here, as well as Desire which got to me later this year.
December 19, 20186 yr Whoops about me getting Barbie Tingz/Dreams mixed up. I actually really like BD so that's why I probably had that one on my mind. I have the opposite opinion on Look Alive. I thought it was just Drake on auto-pilot and it was JB's high-energy verse that really stood out. Brilliant to see Wake Me Up here. In My Feelings was alright but I'd rather it was DMTM or Nonstop that blew up instead.
December 20, 20186 yr Look Alive is okay. Happier is solid. Girlfriend is a great track with some dreamy production and a lush voice from Christine. Nevermind is nice for a summer's day. Nuh Ready Nuh Ready is decent Better Now is one of my faves from Malone, along with Sunflower. Lemon is great. Also, LOL at the part in The Radical Douche's Best Hit Songs of 2018 when this song came up and he ended up dancing and singing loudly to it. Did you know that Pharrell and Co. performed Lemon in this year's Kids Choice Awards. First Time, Wake Me Up and Just Got Paid are great dance tracks. For the first one, I didn't expect Medina to come back into the Top 40 nine years after her minor hit You & I. Really like No Limit. "F*** with me and get some money!" For You grew on me upon repeated listens. Really digging its production.
December 20, 20186 yr Hi Dan! A catch-up: 188 Dave ~ Funky Friday (feat. Fredo) This really grew on me, surprised at how much I ended up liking it! The beat is infectious and it's extremely catchy. 174 Cardi B ~ I Like It (feat. Bad Bunny & J Balvin)  171 Jess Glynne ~ Thursday I'd say this is my favourite of hers now, I think I'm more of a Jess ballad fan anyway though! 170 Charli XCX ~ Focus 168 Clean Bandit ~ Solo (feat. Demi Lovato) 166 Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson ~ Symphony Both this and Solo still sound brilliant to me. Their singles from this album have been superb. Shame the quality didn't extend to the full album. 165 Camila Cabello ~ Havana (feat. Young Thug)  163 Big Shaq ~ Man's Not Hot *.* 162 Raye ~ Decline (feat. Mr Eazi) 157 Nicki Minaj ~ Chun-Li 155 Avicii vs. Nicky Romero ~ I Could Be The One (feat. Noonie Bao) Lovely to see this here, even if I wish it were under better circumstances. One of my favourites of his for sure! 147 Rita Ora ~ Let You Love Me   143 Ariana Grande ~ No Tears Left To Cry  125 Marshmello ~ Happier (feat. Bastille) 118 Dennis Lloyd ~ Nevermind 116 Post Malone ~ Better Now His best so far for me! I didn't end up charting it but I always enjoyed it on the radio. 111 Avicii ~ Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc) 104 Rita Ora and Liam Payne ~ For You (Fifty Shades Freed) 102 Sigala ~ Just Got Paid (feat. Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor and French Montana) Fabulous stuff, hyped for your top 100!
December 21, 20186 yr Sicko Mode has grown massively over the months  I quite like Nuh Ready Nuh Ready too, glad Calvin has since moved on from that style but it at least deserved top 40. No Limit is a huge huge fave of mine, probably the best thing G-Eazy has ever done! Somewhat surprised that Better Now and First Time peaked so low for you!
December 21, 20186 yr Author We've got to the Top 100 pretty quickly :o Mother was a tune, the resemblance to a nursery rhyme was a bit creepy but it was such an earworm! I spy some nice BJSC entries in here, as well as Desire which got to me later this year.I'm not sure what nursery rhymes you're referring to cos I don't get the similarity. Desire is really good, will probably be here next year too as it'll have a big post-Christmas climb. Whoops about me getting Barbie Tingz/Dreams mixed up. I actually really like BD so that's why I probably had that one on my mind. I have the opposite opinion on Look Alive. I thought it was just Drake on auto-pilot and it was JB's high-energy verse that really stood out. Brilliant to see Wake Me Up here. In My Feelings was alright but I'd rather it was DMTM or Nonstop that blew up instead.Even auto pilot Drake is better than a lot of rappers, though Look Alive was better by his standards than a fair chunk of his album. I'd have liked DMTM to get properly big also (though it had a reasonably good chart run). Nonstop didn't really do too much for me though. Look Alive is okay. Happier is solid. Girlfriend is a great track with some dreamy production and a lush voice from Christine. Nevermind is nice for a summer's day. Nuh Ready Nuh Ready is decent Better Now is one of my faves from Malone, along with Sunflower. Lemon is great. For You grew on me upon repeated listens. Really digging its production.Well I don't watch or follow the Kids Choice Awards so no I didn't. I forgot Medina even had a minor hit before and I don't recall ever hearing said song either. Hi Dan! A catch-up: 188 Dave ~ Funky Friday (feat. Fredo) This really grew on me, surprised at how much I ended up liking it! I didn't end up charting it but I always enjoyed it on the radio. Fabulous stuff, hyped for your top 100!It's really a lot better than most of the rap in the chart, really well put together. Hope it makes a top 40 return following Christmas because it doesn't deserve to have the same number of top 40 weeks as 'Ay Caramba'. I like Jess's dance songs the most but she's a great all rounder, her ballads have been surprisingly good. Definitely one of his top tunes! Well he has 3 more appearances in the top 100 so this isn't quite his best though still a big improvement on his first era (never got 'Congratulations') Sicko Mode has grown massively over the months  I quite like Nuh Ready Nuh Ready too, glad Calvin has since moved on from that style but it at least deserved top 40. No Limit is a huge huge fave of mine, probably the best thing G-Eazy has ever done! Somewhat surprised that Better Now and First Time peaked so low for you!It is a big grower, its US chart run says it all. I very much prefer Calvin's current style to whatever NRNR was but it was good still. I'd have to agree, not keen on G-Eazy otherwise. thanks guys!
December 21, 20186 yr I'm not sure what nursery rhymes you're referring to cos I don't get the similarity. The chorus is very similar to 'Here we go round the mulberry bush'!
December 21, 20186 yr Author #100. Mr. Belt & Wezol ~ Stupid (feat. LucyXX) tomorrow's not guaranteed, right now is all we need Genre: Future house Label: Spinnin' Records Album: non-album single Date entered: 13/07/18 Chart sales: 487,200 Chart run: 79-62-45-22-22-26-33-34-49-79-82-80-88-x [13 weeks] Video: ZVSb3Mrhmn8 Commentary Starting off the Top 100 is the first of two appearances for Mr. Belt & Wezol. The Dutch duo have been going strong in my chart ever since their debut Spinnin' release 'Shiver', which until now remained their only EOY Top 100 appearance and it is still by some way their best song. It's not a truly outstanding song but it's a light bop with a catchy riff, showing that even years after the future house sound has been oversaturated they still do the style better than much of their contemporaries (and indeed, Oliver Heldens only has one appearance in the whole top 250, though it is still yet to come and higher than both MB&W entries), helped by them sticking to the more commercial side of the genre.
