American singer/songwriter Alec Benjamin has been creating some buzz this year with a string of single releases, over two years since his last single (End of the Summer) on his major label contract. Starting with Let Me Down Slowly in May, a song that got added to Hot Hits UK and charted top 30 in Norway, Alec's released Boy in the Bubble, If We Have Each Other, Death of a Hero, Outrunning Karma and 1994 rationed to one track a month. Now his first full body of work is here - Narrated for You is a mixtape in his own words, but effectively serves as his debut album. All six singles are included as well as six other tracks - some brand new, some are fully produced versions of demos he posted ages ago!

He's got a really special quality to him - perhaps it's the innocence in his voice mixed with the brilliant storytelling skills he has in his lyrics. He's insightful and capable of bringing just about every emotion out of me over the course of this mixtape  Let Me Down Slowly is one of the best songs of the year, and I also love Outrunning Karma, Steve, Water Fountain, Annabelle's Homework and 1994 among others on the mixtape. Such a good listen, I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested!!

1. If We Have Each Other

2. Water Fountain

3. Annabelle's Homework

4. Let Me Down Slowly

5. Swim

6. Boy in the Bubble

7. Steve

8. Gotta Be a Reason

9. Outrunning Karma

10. If I Killed Someone for You

11. Death of a Hero

12. 1994

I love him, only listened to the mixtape once but I think it’s pretty decent!

Was the #10 trending video on YouTube after it came out! :D Really nice video and the song has grown on me immensely, I wasn't keen when it first came out (particularly following Let Me Down Slowly).

The mixtape has been getting some brilliant reviews too, really hope he can start picking up some support from radio stations.

This reminds me of the type of song that labels release on radio and they end up peaking 8-9 months later. “Here”, “Hide Away”, “Lights Down Low”, “New Rules” kinda, “I Like Me Better”...

So get ready for this top peak at around #5 on radio around mid-September :kink:

Better late than never tbh

Let Me Down Slowly is still his best song, I'm intrigued by the new mix. I really hope it manages to get him some support, he's too talented to fall by the wayside.

Just released! Alessia sounds great on it, but they'd have had to screw it up massively for me to not enjoy it. Such a gorgeous track, the subtle build in production alongside Alec's voice   please blow up :(

Let Me Down Slowly is #83 in the midweeks today!!!!! :o Up to #147 on UK Spotify, has been in the top 200 for 4 days now and isn't on Hot Hits (weirdly, it was for months last year but never once made the top 200). Exciting to think this could actually be on its way to becoming a hit? Also became Alec's first Hot 100 at #79 this week!
I've loved the original version for a few months now so I'm pleased to see it becoming a minor hit. The Alessia version is pretty terrible, even by her low standards

Heard "Let Me Down Slowly" a few times now, really quite liking it. The non Alessia version that is.

Something about it reminds me of Mike Posner??

Let Me Down Slowly is in the UK Spotify top 50, approaching the top 40 and has now been playlisted by Radio 1! Peaked at #44 so far, #46 this week (despite an increase of 10% in sales), so hopefully it's coming to make the top 40 next week or the week after :D

Also it's not been posted here but If I Killed Someone For You got a music video, this is such a great track and shows off just how excellent a songwriter he is:

Has now gone Top40 in the UK back on Friday. I can see how it reminds of Mike Posner. It does sound like him at times.

I've not been so excited about a top 40 hit since... probably Stitches by Shawn Mendes. Here's hoping it can climb a little more this week, up 1 spot to #35 as things stand!!
