November 13, 200618 yr I've just been reading Deep Impaxt's report on Devoted from Durban, it's a fantastic detailed report from a massive Will fan and her very first experience of "live Will". :cheer: Could you bring it over hun :cheer:
November 13, 200618 yr Author Could you bring it over hun :cheer: Here's Deep Impaxt's report from Jo'burg, her first ever live Will experience. Hi everyone! Before I even begin my report I feel obliged to big up Marcos Hernandez- because it seems like he got along very well with Will. The reports from Durban about the two of them and Bananarama just added to my sense that they're cool with each other because even in Johannesburg Marcos mentioned Will (and one other artist) during his set. So props to Marcos but a big up yours to some other people who deserve it. Anyway, Will was so unbelievable on Saturday. He's so incredibly talented that it moves your soul when he sings- he never missed a single note on Saturday night. He did the best version of LMF I've ever heard! He sang Keep On- lots of sexy wiggling of hips (which the crowd loved!). Light My Fire- I've already said how brilliant that was. Your Game was pure genius! He was so flirtatious- threw his mic stand on the floor again! Love the One You're With really got the crowd going- iit was so full of energy. He also sang LIAMOD- never really liked the track on the album but hearing him sing it that night was breathtaking. All his ballads were so heartfelt- like he meant evry single word. That's why it was like he bared his soul. When he sang WAI there was pin-drop silence in the audience because his voice was so beautiful- there was an almost mystical feeling about it and you could tell from his facial expression that he was so into his performance. He doesn't do all the cheesey sing- alongs and sucking up to the audience for cheap applause- he's there for the people who want to be entertained by the music. Also sang I love you more than u'll ever know which I can't even begin to describe. Even Evergreen was done so amazingly! He let Joseph and Jerry do some singing and the crowd went totally insane- Will went giggly. Noone could tell that it was EG at first but when they figured it out he had 18 000 people singing it with him! (still no cheesey "I'll sing then you sing" c**p). LRN had a similar response. When he sang [iLYMTYEK] some girls screamed "We love you too Will!" Those lucky girls asked Will for his setlist so he ripped it off the stage floor and gave it to them! Friday's Child took the cake for me- his falsetto was spot on and the way he improvises reminds you of what an awesome talent he is. The scatting was incredible! I don't think I'll ever hear a voice that enchanting in my life. It's a pity we don't get to see him live in SA often cuz albums don't always do his voice justice. You think you're a fanatic then you hear him live and become a DEVOTEE true and true! He paid so much respect to the band. People unfimiliar with his style were really impressed with the way he introduced them. The Chatty bits. :D THE CHATS: He was very chatty but didn't overdo it with the crowd, here's what I remember: - There was a point whwere he was trying to adjust the mic stand but it was too difficult. It was so funny watching him stand there and fight with it! He even stretched the bottom of his jersey to try and untighten it! He said, "Sorry I'm weak"..."I do have muscles, they just don't work!" Eventually one of his crew helped him- I think the guys name was Graham. Will said, "This is Graham everyone! He's got a great tan (btw, if you were wondering were Will's tan is from- it was sunny in Joburg). I saw Graham at the pool the other day and he was like this, [puts his hands in front of him, throws his head back and pulls a funny face]." Everyone laughed. -Then he said after one song, "This is my first time performing in SA, but I've been here about 6 times before on holiday- the sun agrees with me!" Then he says, " I have a story to tell you all...when I first started singing professionally I got a letter from a lady named Pam who lived out here and unfortunately Pam got mugged. They cut her finger off to get her ring. [crowd goes "oh no!]. I tried replying to her letter but she left no return address. So tonight I was hoping she'd be in the ausience. (I think she was because some screams were heard from tyhe back). So if you're here tonight Pam then , Hello!" [crowd goes Aww!"] -The he says, The next song is...a song" Haha! And sings ILYMTYEK - There was a point where after a song he had a drink of water and said, "Hello everyone!. and all 18000 people are like " Hello!!!. It actually echoed so Will started laughing and stepped back from his mic, then said, " That's why I love SA so much- everyone's so friendly! - Another funny incident was when he asked them to turn the house lights on, he said, "Turn the lights on please- I want to get a look at everyone.". He looks around when the lights go on and says, "That's beautiful!....ok now you can turn the lights back off! Lol! I laughed so hard. Now I'm convinced that he's scared of people. It's like he didn't want to have to look at all those people. It's like he looks at the audience and sees nothing. Except that he does notice things- I saw him read my Will for President banner and there was a time where. There's this guy we met in the que outside- his name was Barret. He's really hot but gay. He made it to the front row with us too. So when Will came close to us he caught a glimpse of Barret and winked a very sexy wink at him. We had a good laugh with Barret about it afterwards. He also stuck his tongue out at someone once! Anyway, more to come after I write my exam in a few hours! For now here's a newspaper pic from the banquet on thursday: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Deepimpact01/banquet1106.jpg Edited November 13, 200618 yr by suggy

November 15, 200618 yr Review of The Unite Of the Stars - Entertainment Africa Contributed by: Diane Coetzer The annual Unite of the Stars proved yet again that charity and music are a pretty irresistable mix. Held to raise funds for four charities, including the African Children's Feeding Scheme, the Topsy Foundation, the DisChem Foundaiton and the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, the gala banquet evening certainly had the punters reaching into their pockets. Memorabalia donated by some of the stars of the night, including a once-off handbag, painted by co-host Jane Seymour, went under the hammer, along with several cars (ok, that yellow Lambourghini could hardly be called simply a car but you know what we mean). Although we have yet to be told the final amount, it appeared that a very decent amount of cash was raised. Threading it all together was a slate of live performances from the acts which have already been raising the awareness flag for the issues of poverty, hunger and HIV/AIDS at concerts in Cape Town, Mossel Bay and Bleomfontein. Marcos Hernandez's set was just too short - at three songs - but it revealed the singer and songwriter's performing ability nonetheless. Mango Groove were on form, and sure nostalgia was the name of the game but you can't deny the power of songs like 'Special Star'. Jazz chanteuse, Renee Olstead handled the audience with a sophistication that belied her age and Italian singer, Patrizio Buanne was charm personified, unafraid to match his powerful renditions of traditional Italian songs and modern repertoire with a playful sexy performance. The two UK solo singers, Shayne Ward and Will Young, delivered performances that left no doubt as to why they are strong sellers there - Ward turning in a short but quite delicious set and Young not holding back on his delivery. For his part, Ronan Keating's performance was scene stealing - no flash in sight, simply exceptional songs, beautifully delivered by an individual who remains one of the globe's most beloved stars. * Catch the alst two remaining Unite of the Stars shows November 10th at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg and November 11th at the Sun Coast Casino in Durban. Thanks to Pumpkin who just posted this on Devoted.
November 15, 200618 yr and another....... STARS COME OUT TO PLAY But it was Will Young who proved the most entertaining. Dressed in pants and a tight-fitting white shirt, the singer made good on rumours that he was high-maintenance by asking for ice and then requesting the photographers not to use their flashes. Still, the boy knows how to play an audience and he balanced his dismissive comments with loads of injokes. ' You're very pretty," he told one reporter, telling another that he loved her sunglasses. "They are no fun are these things (press conferences)," he said, "let's all go and have a drink". And when asked to tell a joke, he said, "Take my wife, I don't want her - there's a double meaning in that." "I don't actually know much about South African music," he answered to the standard press conference question about collaborations with local artists - witheringly (and justifiably ) telling a journalist who asked the same question a few minutes later, "I've already been asked that and have answered it." :P Thanks to Sunday on Devoted. From the same website written by the same person. How refreshing to have reporters without an axe to grind. Edited November 15, 200618 yr by munchkin
November 15, 200618 yr Thanks munchkin, I like the second one better.  It was the same person who wrote both of them Suggy - but how refreshing to have someone write something without an agenda. Makes a huge difference. Edited November 15, 200618 yr by munchkin
November 15, 200618 yr Author Off to work now in a happier mood. http://www.sheknows.com/graphics/emoticons/yeah2.gif
November 15, 200618 yr As I just said over the road - he likes to take control of situations and steer things the way he wants to. It obviously didn't go down too well with some who wanted to stage-manage things. Anyway - it's all done and dusted now - on to the next project. Wild animals  Suggy - you fool  love your emoticons. Edited November 15, 200618 yr by munchkin

Weird your review has a typo it should say here :P Will Young, delivered performances that left no doubt as to why they are strong sellers here Now your thinking its just one error, but it shows that he is selling well in SA and not just the uk
