Re Conor. Nothing sinister - someone surfed What'sOnStage and found that Conor is in a National Theatre production

 

Having had a look at The Stage review of Faust, I think it looks a bit odd. Not my cup of tea that's for sure.

Too much beefcake for this Idol

 

Will Young is a regular visitor to Green point, and has even shopped for a home in Cape Town's 'sweet little spot'.

 

British hear-throb Will Young came all the way to Africa, hoping to see some queens. But the winner of the world's inaugural Pop Idol competition had his hopes dashed when he realised that South African men are all brawn and beefcake.

 

In an interview wih the Sunday TImes, on the eve of his first South African Tour, Young described local blokes as particularly 'masculine and beefy'. :lol:

 

"I have to watch what I'm saying; I have a boyfreind back home.... South African men are quite big; it's quite noticeable that they are very muscular - quite beefy really. I have yet spot more feminine-like men here," he said.

 

Young, 27, who shot to fame after wining the first UK Pop Idol contest in 2002, kicked off his whirlwind tour of the country n Cape Town on Friday, followed by a show in Mossel Bay on Saturday.

Crowds clamoured :yahoo: as the openly gay star permord hit singles such as Evergreen and Switch it On - while backstage he sipped peppermint tea. :D , who arrived in Cape Town on Tuesday is performing around the country, as part of the Unite of the Stars charity tour.

 

While in Cape Town, Young asked to be accommodated at the tiny Charles Guesthouse in De Waerkand, a cluster of restored houses perched on the cobblestone streets in Greenponint, which is marketed as the 'focal point of Cape Town's gay scene'. He was put in in the guesthouse's 'superior suite', which costs R1280 per night (divide by 13 girls)

 

Beneska Riffel, executive housekeeper at the guesthouse, which offers a roof garden with harbour views, said Young was "very, very, nice."

 

Young, a regular holiday-maker in South Africa, shot the video for Switch it on here last year, and even celebrated New Year at Cruz, a trendy Greenpoint nightclub.

 

He had shopped for a house in the area - which he described as 'sweet, little spot; - but has not settled on anything yet.

 

After his South African tour, Young will be tracking gorillas for two weeks in Gabon for BBC documentary. Then he will return to London to star in Noel Coward's play, The Vortex, at the Royal Exchange Theatre.

 

"I'm doing a variety of things at the moment; it's stimulating." said Young.

 

"I'm even reading children's books - Roald Dahl."

 

He said he preferred being nurtured on peppermint tea and water backstage. All the artists will be treated to backstage suites with couches, a sound system and plasma screen TVs.

 

Must be really missing Conor as he keeps mentioning him in these articles. :wub:
