Posted December 21, 20186 yr So good to see these back on iTunes and with her stronger vocals! Her old label must be pissed!
December 21, 20186 yr As some will know, JoJo's first two albums (and Leave (Get Out) in many territories) have not been available to purchase or stream for years thanks to her evil ex-label that kept her locked up for years. Well, JoJo just pulled off the boss move of 2018, re-recording (technically covering) and releasing her entire back catalogue to streaming sites so that she can own the masters, and doing so on her birthday to mark her 'Clover Music' imprint at Warner. We love this legendary climax: PlNmWQuqrq4
December 21, 20186 yr Merged the two topics! I absolutely LOVE that she's done this, what a savvy move *.*
December 21, 20186 yr Author I’m hoping in this case that she can finally release her Jumping Trains album in complete form. Edited December 21, 20186 yr by allfiredup93
December 21, 20186 yr did she re-record get out (leave)? Yes. She recorded the entire first two albums. This version of Leave is a bit more stripped down: ALvYb4QARzs I’m hoping in this case that she can finally release her Jumping Trains album in complete form. It's not possible. She can only do this because she's essentially recording covers of previously released songs. Demonstrate wasn't released for sale, but it was premiered by blackground on soundcloud, which has since become a chart streaming site. Loopholes!

Also the fact she’s blurred out her eyes on all the covers... shade, love it What about the mixtapes she released? She was able to release them and surely they’d be eligible? December 22, 20186 yr Thing is, ‘jumping trains’ always felt like a label-wanted album so were probs not missing much not having it lol
December 24, 20186 yr I don't think I've heard her albums in full before, maybe the first one. But this is one of the classiest and most incredible career moves ever. It makes me want to listen to them out of respect.
December 24, 20186 yr I don't think I've heard her albums in full before, maybe the first one. But this is one of the classiest and most incredible career moves ever. It makes me want to listen to them out of respect. 'The High Road', her second album you will love! 'Coming For You', 'Let It Rain', 'The High Road', 'Like That' and the two singles are all amazing.
December 26, 20186 yr But I thought she got out of the contract that her parents signed for her? She got out of the contract, and she's now on her own imprint at Warner, but the label owns the masters to her first two albums. Blackground Records have taken almost all of their former artists' music off streaming and itunes, including most of Aaliyah's catalogue and Toni Braxton's Libra. They essentially no longer exist now, and the owner Barry Hankerson (Aaliyah's uncle) is pure evil, so it's unlikely that her old albums will be for sale anytime soon.
December 26, 20186 yr Wonder if they had to clear the Africa sample again? They surely would have had to clear it since it's a new recording. I guess the question is how much/if they had to pay, or if they were able to explain: "Hey, we actually cleared this sample 12 years ago but now I have to cover myself so that the song will be online again and you can get your royalties". Whew. I don't think I've heard her albums in full before, maybe the first one. But this is one of the classiest and most incredible career moves ever. It makes me want to listen to them out of respect. According to Nicki The High Road one of the greatest R&B albums of all time. ;)

I didn't know that about Aaliyah's stuff :( It is awful and makes this move all the more amazing from JoJo!
