Alex Turner has spoken about the crazy year of success endured by Arctic Monkeys, and that it still hasn't distracted him from writing more songs.

Speaking to Uncut magazine Turner said:

"I can’t stop writing songs, I don’t know what else I’m going to do."

He also admitted that the new album will not carry the tempo that debut record-breaking album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" did, adding that some may even be played acoustically:

"I’ve written quite a few slower ones- there’s 13 or 14 songs, maybe a few more, in different states."

Laurence Bell, head of Domino Records has already heard one of the new songs, which Turner named "Brain Storm":

"Very bright and metallic – it’ll shock a few people." is what Bell had to say about the track.

To read more on what looks like a promising interview, get the December issue of Uncut magazine, out now.

It sounds like it could be another solid album. :D Glad that they're going to experiment with their sound a bit whether it be for better or worse. :)

I'm unsure about the reaction to the new album. :( I'm pretty sure its not gonna sell as well as WPSIATWIN but well we'll just see. ^_^ I think it will all depend on the first single they bring out.

I'm quite sure NME have a backlash prepared for them at the very least seeing as they have a tendancy to build artists hype up to the hilt then when they return with a 2nd album they tend to get tired of them. I doubt the follow-up will sell aswell as the debut but I think they would still be pretty secure for #1 on a quiet week, but I think they also need to return with an indie disco track along the lines of (Dancing Shoes/IBYLGOTD)

Oh yeah I totally agree. ^_^ I think it will still do very well but just not as well as their debut. :( But it really all just depends on what lead single they bring out, nut mind you like a lot of artists the name of the artist just sells itself. ^_^

I think they will get the majority of the regular fans of alternative music buying their album anyway because there is some majority who will be big fans of the band, however I think if they want people who are mainly fans of other genres to buy then they need a good lead single imo.

Yeah the fans will buy the album regardless of how bad the lead single might be, but they need to reach out to those people who are casual buyers and who wouldn't normally class themselves as an Arctics fan. ^_^

I'm sure they will manage to comeback with a great single anyway, but it was proven that it will have to be something more mainstream than 'Leave Before The Lights Come On,' was.

I think the new single they bring out will be very mainstream. :o I'm expecting it to be very catchy for some reason. :o and at the same time I think it will have a bit of a different edge to some of their stuff they've already released. ^_^
