Hi everyone, what is your opinion of Mark's 3rd album 'How The Mighty Fall'?

I am listening now for the first time and I am really enjoying it. For some reason Spotify is displaying it as a 2014 release when it came out in 2005

I like the sound of the music, it is chilled and easy to listen to and has a bit of the Take That feel to it.

I do like this album, with Marks solo music the songs always take that bit more time to warm to, Makin Out, and "Believe in the Boogie, sorry lately are 3 i really enjoy, songs like wasting away i find enjoyable on some listens and then not on others. I do think i prefer his The Art of doing nothing album slightly more than how the mighty fall.
All is albums have something but I dont feel he has ever done a full amazing album, his debut remains his best for me, I wonder has he any plans for another solo album?

Art of doing nothing had a lot of good ideas, but didn’t really come through. I remember listening to a couple of songs thinking: this verse is great, but the chorus is poor. Etc

HTMF is ok...Believe in the Boogie is a great song. Feels quite Beatles-esc

There is a Beatles feel indeed to believe in the boogie and i always felt that child has a feel of john lennons imagine to it so i think the beatles are def one of marks influences.

Marks solo music has always been very different to the material offered by Take That.

His solo music has always been overlooked but the limited success never deterred him.

I wouldn't say no to a solo Greatest Hits from Mark but with him releasing on various labels it could be difficult.

Cant see a greatest hits happening but I would like it to as with promo it could help him achieve his highest album position. Its a shame his albums havnt done better overall. I remember been so shocked by the low chart performance of green man at the time, i know it picked up sales over the years but its peak was a huge shock at the time.
Even the art of doing nothing. It peaked at late 20s? And that was during May, when nothing was being released; on the back of the progress success; and he had a lot of media slots to perform

I did feel that album would have found its way to a top 20 placement.

Mark carried out some good promotion but it did not transition into sales.

It was released when Take That were experiencing collosal success which would have suggested greater success for a new solo Mark album.

With Mark having his own label he is likely to record further solo material.

There has been no indications so far of him doing anything but I'm sure during lockdown he would have wrote a good few songs whether it's for solo or take that.
Its a shame that how the mighty fall couldnt sell enough to make the top 100, this chart outcome makes the art of doing nothing look like a huge success.
I was very disappointed it missed the Top 100 as i was sure he had enough of a fanbase to get a safe top 100, waiting for the girl is really grown on me this week as i have been listening top the album again this week.
