Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams about his upcoming proposed 11th Star Trek movie, confirming earlier reports on TrekMovie.com and elsewhere. Shatner joked when asked who he thought should assume the mantle of Capt. James T. Kirk in the film, which is rumored to deal with Kirk and Spock's first meeting.

 

Basically the 11th movie is a re-telling of the Original series, of how the team came together, at the moment there is no casting for the roles, but Ben Afleck has been approached to play a young Captain Kirk.

I remember once reading a hilarious article about a young kid who when watching Star Trek on TV corrected his Dad when his Dad said "that's Captain Kirk", to which the kid replied, "No it's not, he's Captain Slog."

As in "This is Captain's Log. Stardate".... etc, etc, etc. :lol:

Affleck??? I'd heard it was Matt Damon.... :unsure: . Damon is surely a better choice for playing a young Kirk, in terms of physical appearance, Damon looks a bit more like how a Young Kirk/Shatner would look... Isn't Affleck a fair bit taller than Shatner...? :lol:

Yeah it was Matt, but it was all a rumour..

 

Star Trek XI is due for release in (Summer) 2008..B)

 

I'm not particular fond of a TOS setting, but we'll see.. Everyone (including Paramount) seems to have lots of faith in Abrams.
