February 2, 20196 yr That sucks for Zeana but I'm not mad at Mohombi going DTF, though I don't see it doing that much in the final. Yay at Anna not crashing out though *.* And thank god Nano is no threat this year :cheer:
February 2, 20196 yr Yay at Anna not crashing out though *.* It is the first time that Song #7 in the first deltävling hasn't gone direkt till finalen since they dropped the 8th song however. Anna Bergendahl, Queen of bucking trends *.*

February 2, 20196 yr So Wiktoria joins Ace Wilder and David Lindgren as the third singer to have all three of their entries go DTF i think Mariette and Molly Sandén also managed this, but that's still a great result for Wiktoria
February 2, 20196 yr I hope this heat doesn’t set the tone for 2019 because it was bloody awful. I’m not a fan of Wictoria, but I didn’t think she’d find her way out of the this heat with a shoddy song (although her vocals were on point, tbf). Where was the d&b drop in Chasing Rivers? Not surprised it fell short of a top two slot. Roll on week two.. Edited February 2, 20196 yr by ScottyEm
February 2, 20196 yr Since this is the only valid thread here I can post this - I'd like to mourn Arja's loss with my favourite song of hers, "Jag vill tacka livet": CMY1dbDwFt4 So beautiful - unlike everyone on this forum except for me. All shaded, none forgotten. :(
February 2, 20196 yr • 5th place: "My fires" - Zeana feat. Anis don Demina, 980 354 votes • 6th place: "No Drama" - High15, 814 839 votes • 7th place: "My four seasons" - Arja Saijonmaa, 507,727 votes So almost 5 Million Votes split between the top 4.
February 3, 20196 yr I went into this with no real idea of what was to come and holy shit, what an abysmal heat. Worse than any of last year's by a mile.
February 3, 20196 yr Really unfortunate that Zeana and Arja went nowhere, they're both fantastic songs, fun and classy respectively. Nano's is pretty awful and Wiktoria, it sounds nice but it's not feeling as good as her other two. As for Mohombi, I want to like him but he really cannot sing and it's off-putting. Anna was pretty good though. As ever though, the known Melfest names sail through the first rounds. I went into this with no real idea of what was to come and holy shit, what an abysmal heat. Worse than any of last year's by a mile. I disagree. Last year was one of the worst Melodifestivalen years I can think of and heat 1 last year especially was horrendous. This year I've got about a 50% hit rate, which is pretty average.
February 3, 20196 yr 01 Nano: I actually quite liked Hold On but this really passed me by and somehow felt a lot longer than 3 minutes with a structure that kind of lacked hooks and much to latch onto. Not bad though, still a passable song but I don't think he'll be a winner contender if Hold On wasn't as that was much stronger even if I wasn't a big fan. 6/10 02 High15: I love the verses of this and as a girlband, they feel much less amateur than I expected. The vocals were pretty strong and the dancing was on point but then it hit the chorus and... Busy Doin Nothin it may TRY to be but it really isn't, instead it just falls flat. I can see myself enjoying this more with future plays though but I think I'll always feel a bit underwhelmed by the build up to such a non-event of a chorus that is clearly trying to be a huge event. 7/10 03 Wiktoria: This has to be the most instant a Wiktoria song has been for me! I never enjoyed Save Me and found her unbearably whiny, propped up by a gimic. As I Lay Me Down really grew to be a big favourite of mine in time but it took it's time. But she sounds fantastic on this and it's giving me Why Am I Crying? vibes as opposed to the ballad returns of Isa or Janet Leon (though I do still love I Will Wait). She performed it fantastically and I think this will wind up being a favourite of the year for me. 8.5/10 04 Zeana (feat. Anis Don Domina): LOOOOOVE. This was my favourite from the snippets and it really came through in full, very Panetoz in that summery upbeat "I know this isn't gonna challenge for the win, but it makes me smile" kind of fashion. She sounded a bit weak at times but I'm writing these commentaries after all 7 songs are finished and I have the "oioioi" chant stuck in my head. Hoping this can sneak an Andra Chansen spot, such a joyous 3 minutes! 9/10 05 Arja: I liked this so much more than I expected to! It wasn't anything remarkable but it wasn't the sombre, sleep inducing 3 minutes that I'm used to from these oldies like her coming back in Semi 1 every year. I actually found myself smiling and getting all YAAAAS. Not to mean that it's anything more than a good song, but still, very charming and not the worst of the semi! 6.5/10 06 Mohombi: The performance felt quite unnecessarily Mans Zelmerlow inspired and I can't imagine that'll go unnoticed by the public. Song wise, I do definitely like it but there's also something missing from the chorus to stop it popping off like I'd have expected a Mohombi song to do. It was sort of safe? Another good song though and all in all, I'm really enjoying this semi, but I had slightly higher hopes for some RedOne throwback. Good performer though, better than I expected in that sense. 7/10 07 Anna: I liked that a lot too! I enjoyed it more than I thought I would from the rehearsal clips aswell, I thought it was performed very competently and it didn't have a strictly Melodifestivalen feeling to it either, it felt very natural to her which showed in the way she performed it. It progressed well throughout and I think she'd be well deserving of another final spot with that. A very credible yet poppy entry which suited her to a tee and she looked great. Pleasant surprise! 7.5/10 --------- What I would like: DTF: Zeana & Anis Don Domina / Wiktoria AC: Anna Bergendahl / Mohombi 5th: High15 6th: Arja 7th: Nano (if only!) --------- Okay, fully caught up and I'm really not surprised at the end result! I had a really strong feeling Wiktoria would make it through, it was definitely the stand out performance of the night. I think it'll do better than As I Lay Me Down because she's not moving which means a more consistent vocal and the juries love a good performance concept and the rain is really effective even if it's not hugely original. After years of male uptempos, I wouldn't rule this one out, it's very instant and has broad appeal. Glad Nano has been sent to AC, it really isn't as hard hitting as Hold On. Such a shame for Zeana but I really couldn't see any other way once Anna's track was proven to be a keeper, as she's the only one I could've seen falling to 5th. I really enjoyed the semi unlike most here though! Not incredible but not a bad song imo.

February 3, 20196 yr Author So my #hottakes on this heat are...it was alright I guess. I don't accept that it's on a level with Heat 1 from last year, maybe Heat 1 of 2017. Ashes To Ashes, Not With Me, Mina brander and Hello are all keepers for me and Chasing Rivers would be if it was literally anyone else singing it. And results wise the two acts that really knocked it out the park with their performances ended up in the top 2 so I'd say that was pretty fair!
February 3, 20196 yr I couldn't have asked for much more from the results really. My top 2 matched the two that were sent DTF, I was so relieved when Wiktoria was announced and delighted when Nano only went AC as coming into this heat I thought he'd be the biggest certainty for a place in the final.
