"Maria" and "Malibu" were the big hits of my chart. :)

I even don't know some songs from your top 40, possibly they are related to dance / trance / electronic music.

4 chart-toppers for me in this chart (Offspring, Cher, Madonna, Savage Garden) though I also don't know at least 10 of them! :o

Indeed many are dance tracks. But if it helps, even I don't know (completely forgotten) a lot of stuff here

Strange, but there's at least 10 I don't know (completely forgotten about) either!

I remember the No.2 being a Wiseguys/Fatboy Slim esque track sampling Amen Corner's Bend Me Shape Me, but even now I've not been able to track it down or even know what it's actually called (I taped it off the radio - from a Pete Tong show in early '99). There's others like Next Of Kin and The Moffats I have no recollection over. Strange thing memory

It certainly is! I pretty much remember every track I ever liked as a teen and into my 20's - apparently memory is hazy for childhood, peaks in your teens and early 20's and stays sharp, then fades progressively in your 30's, with subsequent decades a bit clearer depending on how far away from them you are, leaving childhood and your 30's the most vague. Doesn't work for me, as it's the 90's I have most trouble with musically, such a fast turnover, and the 00's now is quite vague too in places.

My theory is the body completely changes it's constituent atoms every 6 years, and that's about the period my memory stays fresh, so I blame it on that!

proving my point about my memory around 10 of the tracks in your 2002 list I dont recall, but A1, Alcazar, Sophie Ellis-Bextor & George Harrison all topped my charts. I started clubbing big time in 2001 through 2003, so these are my teenage clubbing years, hah! Tracks like Christina Milian, Pink, Alcazar, Sophie, Puretone all big in my dancefloor memory - I dont mean I was a big dancer, I was mainly just shuffling a bit

At that time I was working in the clubs! (Ah RIP youth  ) I imagine you were probably a better shuffled than me. Whatever moves I did, it weren't "dancing"

I remember a lot more here than the '99 chart. Just Black Rebel Motorcycle Club drawing a blank for me.

"Overprotected" is the favourite Britney's song of my sister. "Murder On The Dancefloor" was in my top 3. "Cherry Lips" peaked somewhere near top 15.

allSTARS* - allSTARS* is in my all-time top 5 albums. It was very cute and lovely short-lived pop group.

The Land Of Make Believe (my favourite single of 2002) spent very rare 7 weeks at # 1 in my chart, the original (my favourite single of 1981) had 9 weeks on the top.

Why "Terry" (my # 1) was your top 20 hit in 2002, almost 20 years after the release ?
