Posted February 5, 20196 yr Feast your eyes on my predictions for the surprise flop of the heat and he safe AC entry being the top 2 of the heat! And now we get to do this all over again! This week we're back to the arena that held Eurovision 2013 for the secondd heat and we've got a fan favourite, a legacy act and a buzzjack hate figure all ready to fight it out! 01 Andreas Johnson - Army Of Us Now you'd think an MF veteran that came last in their most recent MF heat would be at the very least discouraged from coming back but here Mr Andreas "Desparation" Johnson is again! After dining out on his one international hit "Glorious" in 1999 and admittedly entering one stone cold MF classic, "Sing For Me" in 2006, Andreas Johnson's entries have generally followed the law of diminishing returns right up to 2015's "Living To Die". But now, he's back. Yay.(I mean Alcazar couldn't even get a spot in MF four years after coming 3rd in the whole competition but apparently that rule only applies to women and gays?). Not only that but he's allegedly got a song that is halfway decent. Does Andreas being given the opening spot mean he's got a song strong enough to convince a mostly non plussed Swedish public to start giving a damn again? 02 Malou Prytz - I Do Me From a serial-MF entrant to an artist making their official debut in...anything! Malou was born in 2003 (yes people are now entering MF who were born after 9/11 no I'm not feeling ancient) and was spotted by producers uploading covers to YouTube. And aside from 2015 & 2016 entrant Isa Tengblad, she doesn't have any particularly well know writers on this track. And that's the thing with these newbies fresh off the production line, will Malou be the next Ace Wilder or the next...High15? Until we hear the song we can only guess! 03 Oscar Enestad - I Love It Okay Joseph, this one's for you! After Felix's second place finish in last year's melfest, both of the other members of the most inconsistently named boyband are appearing in this year's contest, the first of whom is here to satisfy all your twinkpop needs. This song is an uptempo number that Oscar helped pen about the time he had an affair with an older woman and, as much as it hurts me to say this, his most recent singles show a lot of promise! Will he meet the measure or are we on for an Oscar v Omar duel in Andra Chansen? (spoiler: probably not) 04 Jan Malmsjö - Leva livet from last week's 74 year old legacy act, to this week's 88 year old legacy act! Jan is all set for a follow-up comeback to his second place finish....in 1969. I didn't even know MF existed in 1969. If this were heat three I'd be all set for a "Rockabilly Blues" type result but I don't see this making the second round! 05 Vlad Reiser - Nakna i regnet Oh it's some whacky YouTube "comedian" that's promising to be a one man "De Vet Du" who, going on the basis of the most famous Swedish YouTuber is probably lowkey-midkey fascist. NEXT! 06 Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO - Hold You Ahh, here we come to that rare but special beast in Melfest history, the chemistry-free ballad! Famous examples include the aforementioned Andreas Johnson and Carola's 2008 Entry " " (CW: backlighting and desperation) and 2003's " " (CW: sky blue eyeshadow and an on-stage restraining order). Both of these two allegedly wanted to enter separately, which I'm sure mean they're both perfectly happy to be in this situation. On name power alone (a finalist from last year and the winner of Idol 2016) this ought to be a bolted on finalist but, frankly, if this works and they do look like they have chemistry and want to bang, I will be disappointed for the hot mess that this has the potential to be. 07 Margaret - Tempo On Saturday night, the reward for sitting through all those basic straight people in a row means the gays are rewarded with a Margaret banger. And this year she's traded in the Debs for British songwriter (!) Laurell Barker (writer of Asanda's "Legends") as well as long time collaborator Anderz Wrehtov (credited with penning Fuego from ESC 2018). Having gone through AC to get to be the first ever non-Swedish speaking foreigner to make the final last year, can she do one better and be the first one to qualify directly? Or will people have the "Australia in Eurovision" attitude towards her (i.e. once was cute for a gimmick but why are you here AGAIN!)? -x- (Updated) Schedule for the week: Wednesday: The Press get their first plays of the weeks songs, their reviews will appearing on social media after 18:00 CET Thursday: 1 minute clips of the studio versions and 30 second clips of the stage rehearsals will be uploaded Friday: Dress Rehearsal for the final show, the "genrep" poll of audience members from the rehearsal crowd gets released, giving us a first clue as to what's going to be popular with the Swedish Public Saturday: The Show!
February 5, 20196 yr I will be in the arena for this one so very hyped indeed! Hoping for a very strong set of songs but I'm not expecting much from 88-year-old and the Youtube comedian! Fingers crossed for the other five though. And Andreas Johnson is a Melodifestivalen legend.
February 5, 20196 yr Margaret is the only one I'm excited for on name alone, potentially Malou as both Isa's entries have been great. I feel like Margaret could go either way but the song should be brilliant with the names behind Legends and Fuego on board!!
February 5, 20196 yr If Oscar's song is anything near as good as Sign of My Love, we're in for a TREAT. I am extremely excited (and for Margaret too!)
February 6, 20196 yr Hey loves hey *.* Last week was one of the worst heats I can remember in EVER. That said, I can't even pretend that I'm not all over Anna Bergendahl's HOT REDEMPTION ANTHEM (soon to be exterminated by a YouTuber in AC NEAR YOU) which has been ON REPEAT CHEZ QASS ever since they took the SIMILARLY hot Wiktoria perf off SVT Play (and of course, I am thus far backing our yelling queen to promote hydration to the youth across Europe in Tel Aviv for Sweden come May, though that is all subject to change depending on how incredible Tempo is this week) (I am fully expecting to switch allegiance to Tempo this week) Edited February 6, 20196 yr by Qassändra
February 7, 20196 yr 1 Minute Clips are out.... Andreas Johnson: Is he serious? This sounds so juvenile. With that being said, great lead up to the chorus and his voice sounds good. This will likely have a great key change and amazing performance so likely will do well. Malou Prytz: Is this the chick that's always all over the MF Instagram stories? Weakest of the heat by a mile. Oscar Enestad: Eek. This is the best they could come up with for him? It's not even worthy of being an FO&O B-Side. With that being said, I love it. I don't see this doing well at all.. I thought he would be AC - but this could easily put him 5th/6th or 7th. This is a strong heat. Jan Malmsjo: Jesus Christ this is just *.*. With a great performance this could EASILY go to the final. So Good. Vlad Reiser: Love this, great beat, looks like we are going to get a great performance too. However, will end up on the bottom. Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO: Did not care for his entry last year, and this sounds incredibly boring. However, given their names will crack AC at least I'd imagine. Margaret: Soooo... this studio version is absolute garbage. So much autotune. However, I think she will MURDER this live. Not as good as her attempt last year. But I can see this being a grower. This heat is just *.*.
February 7, 20196 yr All of the no-hopers on paper have basically turned up great songs, which could make this heat quite unpredictable. Jan Malmsjo could definitely get the Hasse Andersson/Owe Thörnqvist vote, to AC if not to the final. Vlad Reiser's sounds surprisingly decent, and it sounds like both Margaret and Andreas have brought strong songs along with them <3 The 90s dance vibe of Oscar's song is a pleasant surprise and I'm sure Hanna and Liam will win a lot of votes if they look convincing together on stage. Even Malou's sounds catchy enough.
February 7, 20196 yr Author Really liking Malou and Margaret from those snippets, Andreas actually has a good ‘fun 4 breeders’ type of song which explains that opening slot!
February 7, 20196 yr Margaret: this going to BANG live, I prefer the production to In My Cabana. Liam/Hanna: you can FEEL the utter lack of chemistry already but I'm sure the str8s will eat it up regardless. Vlad: it reminds me a bit of Fy faen by Hkeem & Temur, surprisngly good. Jan: fun enough for what it is I suppose Oscar: ooh this is actually really good! Probably my fave next to Margaret out of these clips. Malou: ooh this is a bit of a bop, idk what to expect from her performance as it could make or break this but I'll be really liking the studio regardless *.* Andreas: Not as terrible as he usually is, but very Avicii/David Guetta album track lefrover (so again, I'm sure the str8s will stan). Interesting heat for sure, I agree it's quite hard to call. I could make a case for pretty much all of them at least going AC so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all goes and how they come across on stage!
February 7, 20196 yr Andreas Johnson: Better than expected, but won't cry if it goes out Malou Prytz: Decent, but boring Oscar Enestad: Meh Jan Malmsjö: Aaaaw I love this *.* Vlad Reiser: I like this alot, my clear favourite on first listen in this heat Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO: Sounds nice enough, deserve a ticket to AC Margaret: Really good song, should easily go DTF
February 7, 20196 yr As if I'm stanning Andreas Johnson and Oscar . I Love It is probably my favourite in this heat alongside Margaret. I predict Hanna & LIAMOO and Oscar will go Direkt, with Margaret and Andreas to AC. Another great heat! Edited February 7, 20196 yr by TS0301
February 8, 20196 yr Rehearsal Clips are out... Andreas Johnson: Hard to tell if this is going be an ear worm, or just really annoying. The performance is weak and unoriginal. Malou Prytz: Good, but she's going to have a hard time standing out. Also, it's that the outfit from Sigrid Bernson "Patrick Swayze" performance? Oscar Enestad: I love this so much, the performance is very much Martin Rolinski and the song is amazing, but I don't see this going DTF. Jan Malmsjo: Brilliant. Yes, very much Boogieman Blues. Hope he doesn't win cuz I'm not sure if he'd make it to May to perform at Eurovision. Vlad Reiser: I think we found our 7th place finisher. I love the song and the beat but the performance is a little Zzzz. Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO: Oh wow. This song is going to get very annoying very quickly. She's literally SHOUTING her part of the song. Great performance, looks beautiful. Good song, but not sung well by either in that part of the performance. Margaret: I hope that outfit has something to do with the Green Screen we saw tweeted earlier, because if not. Ick. Yeah, this is going to do very well. I guess we will see on Saturday, but, this heat is exceptionally strong as far as songs go.. but having Wiktoria and Mohombi (sp) have such polarizing performances, nothing is standing out in this heat as far as performances goes (apart from Hanna/LIAMOO perhaps) - but again, 30 second clips may not give all away.
February 8, 20196 yr Author Genrep's in: 1. Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO Hold You 425 39,94% 2. Andreas Johnson Army of Us 204 19,17% 3. Margaret Tempo 166 15,6% 4. Vlad Reiser Nakna i regnet 111 10,43% 5. Malou Prytz I Do Me 96 9,02% 6. Oscar Enestad I Love It 36 3,38% 7. Jan Malmsjö Leva Livet 26 2,44%
February 9, 20196 yr Andreas’ song sounded pretty anthemic. The crowd in the arena seem pretty behind it and him too. His best entry in a long time for me.
February 9, 20196 yr Andreas was basic AF Malou was okay I guess. Lost interest after the first few verses
