Just rumours at the moment, but it appears that, going on reports of the Daily Star and also several other outlets tonight that after 15 years on air, it's being axed/rested/however else they're dubbing it until 2020 to do a celebrity series this year: https://www.dailystar.co.uk/tv/x-factor/759...saturday-nights

I mean admittedly if it is true then it's no surprise given it was obvious about three years ago that it had run out of steam. But I'm intrigued to hear how they think a celebrity version will work in 2019 when the 2006 one was hardly a roaring success?

a celebrity version? why not just do a British version of The Masked Singer lol
If I remember rightly they advertised for auditions for this year at the end of last season to get their applications in.

A celebrity version is a terrible idea. It was dreadful the first time round and will be again.

A send off series in the style of AGT: The Champions could work and would at least give it one last celebratory hurrah before it rests in peace.

This celebrity/all-star mix is a gigantic mess.

The show needs to be rested a la Dancing on Ice to make people hungry for it again - this celebrity version would damage the brand even further than it already is

Is there any point resting it for a single year? :') If this is true, I appreciate them finally realising it needs to go, but it needs to be a longer rest than that. I mean Jesus, surely ITV aren't that creatively bereft to think of SOMETHING.

And that replacement sounds dire lmaooo

(actually that article is super misleading, it's not actually gone at all, it's just a celebrity one this year and then back to normal?)

a cheap tabloid article being misleading, that's quite a shocker :kink:

Yaaass, a step in the right direction as Ayda was absolutely terrible last year. If only they can also get Louis out and rebuild a decent panel.
If it's a celebrity series surely they should have a panel of XF winners
Let me guess they will be a TOWIE person taking part in the celebrity version??
Louis Walsh has been a judge on Ireland's Got Talent for the last two years. The final of the second series took place last weekend. He's having a great time doing it so I don't think he'll want to return to the X Factor.

Dan Wotton has said The X Factor will likely to go back to 3 judges with different panels for the celebrity and all star versions. It's also likely that Louis Walsh and a former female (Cheryl, Nicole, Danni or Sharon) will be asked back.

The Sun are reporting that Louis Walsh and Nicole Sherzinger will join Simon as the judges. There apparently won't be a fourth judge.

Also, they're reporting the names in talks to compete on the Celebrity version are Gemma Collins, Amanda Holden, Caroline Flack, Megan McKenna and John Barrowman.

This is going to be car crash entertainment, I prefer the original concept, knowing my luck I probably still watch it, to laugh at.
Lucy Fallon is in talks for this apparently, her voice is insane so I'd love to see.her do it!!
