okay ik i don't go here BUT i've been listening to pheonix after stanning pretty much all of her singles and i'm not obsessed with cashmere to the point i'm analysing the lyrics and i've come to the conclusion that it's about a woman but ben does not agree, so i wanted to make a thread to settle this debate x

here is my reasoning:

• She's bi so there's gotta be more songs about that than just girls, especially on this album i'd have thought
• The piece of Cashmere clothing is hers but it's usually a more feminine material anyway - soft, comforting etc a metaphor for a WOMAN perhaps? :o
• Lips are one of the most prominent features on a LADY (interpret as you will)
• "Put it on so you can take it off me" - a guy is hardly gonna put on a womans jumper are they, they must have the SAME body type for them to share clothing
• "i dont try to hide it" - her accepting and being open about being with girls
