I genuinely have never felt more sad and angry about a show's cancellation.

It feels like the exact show Netflix should be making alongside the more mainstream hits, to add that extra selling point that it’s a platform that tells stories you won’t find anywhere else. The show’s built a solid fanbase but would have died a death on any other platform. They need to let certain shows tell their full story once again (and not do so by stealing other network’s mundane shows, hi lucifer) because it’s straying more and more into network TV.

It used to be the home for slightly more prestige TV but now it feels it’s committed to a race to the bottom and is focusing on cheap throwaway rom-com/teen films and true crime. I never thought I’d say it but Amazon Prime is actually starting to make the more interesting original shows and attracting better network/cable shows.

This exactly. It's not as much of a problem yet, but it will be. Apple+ is positioning itself as a more prestige streaming service that is going to focus on high-quality stories that you can't find elsewhere. Disney owns everything so they'll clearly be a mainstream platform of choice without much effort. It's going to be interesting to see how Netflix do with each of those on either side.

I know it's a business but I do think shows with solid fanbases deserve at least an episode to tie things up — like Sense8.
