Posted November 5, 200618 yr Fave record of the week- sugababes- easy. great single with nice beat and vocals. love it!. 4.5/5 will reach about no.6 All Saints-Rock Steady its a very good comeback single with nice vocals from shaznay and a great video. 4/5 will go top 3. George Michael & Mutya Buena – This Is Not Real Love. a nice song from george and great vocals from mutya, good to hear her lovely voice! but can be a bit dreary in some parts of the songs. 3.5/5 will reach top 40, but deserves top 20. Gnarls Barkley – Who Cares? / Gone Daddy Gone. the double a side from the fantastic st.elsewhere album, this is a bit of a let down compared to the two great first singles from the album. 3/5 should go top 30. Infernal - Self Control. A new single from the dance duo. loved thir last single which had massive success, this is nice, just not great. 3.5/5 will reach top 20 Kasabian – Shoot The Runner. the follow up to there maasive single empire which i LOVED. this is a good follow up and will just reach the top 20. 4/5 Lucie Silvas - Last Year. she was one of my favourite artists in 2004 and had great sucess with her debut album breathe in, and then she comes back and releases a comeback single like this. just a bit boring!. 2.5/5 could miss top 40. Madonna - Jump. The fourth single taken from the multi-platinum album 'confessions on a dancefloor', its actually quite good considering its the fourth release and should defiently reach the top 15 next week. 4/5 Paris Hilton - Nothing In This World. The multi-talented(not) paris hilton. cant sing, cant act or do anything else. what a load of tripe. 0/5 Taio Cruz – I Just Wanna Know. Relatively unknown artist. but he has a great voice and gives some nice vocals on this great track. my 2nd fave single of the week. 4.5/5 deserves top 10 but will just miss top 40. U2 & Green Day – The Saints Are Coming… Two great bands team up for this charity single, its actually really good and should do well for charity. no.1 next week. 4/5 Westlife – The Rose. the new single from Westlife... another ballad from them and this should please there dedicated fan base. its OK. 2.5/5 will reach top5. please your comment about what you think of my ratings. :) feel free to say what you want lol :P Edited November 5, 200618 yr by wingnut..johnny boi
November 5, 200618 yr Fave record of the week- All Saints-Rock Steady a brilliant comeback single.5/5 2nd Madonna - Jump My favourite track off of COAD finally gets a release. 4.5/5 3rd Sugababes- Easy This track is most definitely a grower, but all of a sudden they are losing momentum to their rivals Girls Aloud as it is no Push The Button, Freak Like Me or Hole In The Head.4/5 The rest: U2 & Green Day – The Saints Are Coming… Two great bands team up for this charity single, but the single fails to equal the sum of its parts. 3/5 Taio Cruz – I Just Wanna Know I really like this track, which is a surprise, as I'm not normally a fan of Usher type R'n'b. 4/5 George Michael & Mutya Buena – This Is Not Real Love it's alright, but I think George's best day's are behind him, as I think Will Young as taken a lot of his market 2.5/5 Gnarls Barkley – Who Cares? / Gone Daddy Gone There are two great songs on their St Elsewhere album, and they have already been released as singles. 2.5/5 Infernal - Self Control. A cover of the Laura Branigan Euro Disco classic from 1984, but not as good as the original. 2.5/5 Kasabian – Shoot The Runner For me this is no Empire. Parts of it remind me of the classic "Spirit In The Sky" song. 2.5/5 Lucie Silvas - Last Year I loved her debut album Breathe In. But alarm bells are ringing if this is the best she has to offer from her 'sophomore' album.2.5/5 Westlife – The Rose This song is a bona fide classic - when performed by the original artist Bette Midler back in 1979. The song was written as the title track of a movie based on the life of Janis Joplin, who was a female vocalist who possesed a terrific voice (imagine a female version of Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) and you would be very close). As ever Westlife cover a classic song and suck the life, emotion & passion out of it. But their fan base will buy it. 0.5/5 Paris Hilton - Nothing In This World Waste of space, awful, awful, awful. 0/5
November 6, 200618 yr Here are my reviews of the songs I have heard from this week's releases. Madonna: Jump 4/5 Excellent 4th single from her latest album. This is unlikely to repeat the success of recent singles, but still worth a look at. Another top10 hit! All Saints: Rock Steady 3/5 Disappointing come back single. It lacks the killer chorus that made songs like "pure shores" a massive hit. It will go top5 however. Paris Hilton : Nothing in this world 3/5 A better choice than 1st single. This should make a good dent in the top20. Infernal: Self Control 3/5 I like this one better than from paris to berlin. Its got quite a catchy chorus. However, with all the other big releases this week, this single is likely to struggle to match the success of it's predecessor. Sugababes: Easy 3/5 Not as strong as some of their previous singles. Nevertheless, not a bad single and will certainly help the greatest hits CD to sell. This should go in the lower end of the top10. U2&Greenday - The saints are coming 2/5 I didnt like this song when I heard it. Found it quite boring. They've done much better songs than this.
