Yes, with 72 it's over. We may talk in another thread about next potential big market and some strategic decisions for chart success. My bet is still on Nashville and country music.

Westlife have loyal fans in far east but country music is big in US and also have a big similarities with their style of music. Another market is Mexico down to South America. With all

Latin natives in this world It's more practical than China.

I think China will eventually trying to copy-paste the model of US and going for acts like Grande or Drake or Nicky Minaj. So there is a little chance in biggest country in the world.

A collaboration with huge country superstar make a big impact in US. they've tried to record a duet with Jessica Simpson but even back then Simpson was not your best bet.

I don't know, maybe Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert doing them favor. Kacey Musgraves is biggest but she's so independent and not into Ballads with messages like we see in

Better Man. Rainbow is just a perfect single with global message and it was boycotted by radio stations around the country. Kacey is what we're needing but not ideal for conservative record

label like Universal or act like Westlife. But Miranda and Carrie are big names and darlings of Nashville and radio-friendly.

It's very unfair to see Better Man chart run, very unfair because maybe two or three songs above them have the better quality so ballads span is over for Westlife (not for many new act

though)and with this midweek stats I think the only chance for Westlife to have a no.1 hit single is to recording a duet with those who guarantee you mega-hits. Calvin Harris is the first name

but it is the last thing in the world I want to see Westlife working with a DJ. If their label wouldn't work with country stars the names are limited to the likes of Ed (who is a big fan of

Westlife), Kelly Clarkson and Pink. Celine Dion is very outdated and the chance for success is slim. In case of R&B imagine Westlife working with Bruno Mars, it's not working because only

Mark has the vocal power to nail it. It's very tough. Better Man deserves way more than this, just unfair.

I put some names because even their modern song, HML, could not debuted in top 5.

Wasn’t expecting the drop to be that drastic especially as streaming is usually missing from the first few updates?! Could easily end up at the bottom end of the chart come Friday.

Set to be Westlife's biggest drop in the singles chart ever?

Smells like it will have the chart run like Lighthouse! Just checked it from its peak 32 to number 89. 57 places down? So if Better Man will end up #84 or lower this week, the single will get the biggest chart drop title ever. Westlife single ballads are over lol, those classic hits are already enough for the majority

Radio 2 Record of the Week

They talked about having 4 to 5 singles to be released from the upcoming album. I would say let's make it 6 to 7 singles.

I don’t think I would be a fan if Westlife goes country, they should stick to pop, maybe venture to a bit of RnB but thats it.

This isn't about the single but:

Here is a very good interview with Mark, Shane and Nicky:

I'm glad that they are careful and that they are paying attention to what they will do next. No matter how much we as fans like Better Man, it was not the best choice for a single and that is a fact.

It's a nice song, but there is just something about it... More like an album song I would say.. I got bored of it after a few repeats, and it never happens with Westlife.... anyone felt the same?

Imagine thinking that any of these artists would release a song with Westlife

It wouldn't surprise me if they managed to get an Ed duet as a future single, Ed's clearly a fan and he's happy to write songs for them. They'll need it after this song bombing down the chart quickly.

they can release another uptempo and it's gna be bigger... Yet if they want to reach a #1 only a duet with Ed's return to the scene could do it.

I don't really think the song bombing matters, it's album sales they'll be after and this song being a R2 staple will secure that.
Oooh the cinema screening of their gig at Croke Park looks good! I saw the ones Robbie Williams and Take That did of their tours a few years ago at my Cineworld so might have to book for that.

This live broadcast will be a perfect opportunity for them to announce their soon to be fourth single. July 6 is not a Friday so they can do the release a week after with the music video and the official exclusive live first performance from Croke uploaded

Wonder when will they announce their African tour dates.

That's my wish. August is a bit long to be the date for their next single release.

Anyway their recent radio interview rotation helped Better Man to be in the top 40 on itunes a bit longer and from those interviews they emphasized how they fought to keep together as quartet and the band running. They are open for updates on their sound. Let's remember a few months ago, Kian said 50 60 percent of the album will be upbeat. I think their 3rd single will have a different producer.

Latest press release by Louis

The band will play two sold-out dates in Dublin and Belfast in July ahead of a new album in September.

"I'm loving working with Westlife, that's amazing. I reckon we have at least six hits on the new album and two hits in the charts right now.

"We've got four amazing songs with Ed Sheeran. They're just loving it, they're selling out everywhere," he said.

I don't really think the song bombing matters, it's album sales they'll be after and this song being a R2 staple will secure that.

Honestly, I think record labels are just trying to figure out how they're going to handle single releases for older/"legacy" acts that don't tend to do much in streaming. Louise is also apparently set to release four singles before her album in October, so it seems like they're seeing what a long single rollout scheme will be like for these acts, if it'll help their albums in the long run or help them build up a streaming presence. It's not like Westlife's album at least is running the risk of being cancelled.

its OCC call to change this stupid rules.

Why would Westlife album be cancelled. They sold half million tickets for the tour already and Hello My Love is becoming silver soon.

They won't cancel the album release this year because they need a UK number one album this decade
