Folk duo The Lumineers are back with their third album III out on September 13th - with lead single Gloria out now.

Never been to into them, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the single!

Their 2nd album did well and hit number 1 so not sure I agree

their 2nd album hit #1 cos it was the first thing they released after Hey Ho

plus it hit #1 by pure chance in a week in the summer lull with super low sales

I don’t agree. "Ho Hey" obviously helped build their profile but it wasn’t the only reason!

peaked in 2013 in the UK

and?

it's a law of nature, you will reap what you sow

if you put a good album out, people will be interested in the next era

Yeah but that's not the case for loads of one-hit wonders: Walk The Moon, Magic!, American Authors, etc. Their next era albums didn't get anywhere near to #1.

Which shows that people like The Lumineers for more than just Hey Ho.

Agree with Who here. It was a good 3 years after their first album was selling decently that this album came - no rush to capitalise / cash in on the success of "Ho Hey", they took time to make a quality record and it went to number 1. Of course yes sales were low at the time but they still sold a decent amount which luckily for them debuted them at the top. The album spent 5 weeks top 40 - we certainly see worse. "Gloria" has started off well on iTunes as well, you can't say that's because of "Ho Hey"!

2 more tracks have been released - hadn't realised!

Donna (Part 1 of 10)

Life In The City (Part 2 of 10)

And the video released for "Gloria" too - need to watch all these as it looks as though there might be some sort of story...

Gloria (Part 3 of 10)

Preferring to listen to this without the 3 bonus tracks for now in its proper form as three chapters.

With chapters 1 and 2 (first 6 tracks) having been made available over the past few months, there was only 4 to add. It's a decent album - I think "Cleopatra" on the whole is better, but I can see myself giving "III" repeated enough listens. "Gloria" and "Donna" are my favourites along with "Life In The City" and "It Wasn't Easy To Be Happy For You".

Love the vocal as always. One of my very favourites. Love their vibe, so chilled out, easy for me to put on whilst I get on with work.
