Just announced this evening that to mark her 30th anniversary since her debut - and 20 years after her last performance - pop and songwriting legend Cathy Dennis is performing at the Mighty Hoopla festival in London on 8th June.

She's also been signed to Fascination Management - new press shots have been released also:

I can say without hesitation that Cathy is one of my all time favourite pop writers, and I especially loved her 'Am I The Kinda Girl?' album she did before she quit performing.

A small reminder of some of the hits she's had a hand in penning for others:

- Britney Spears - 'Toxic'

- Kylie Minogue - 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head', 'Come Into My World'

- Katy Perry - 'I Kissed A Girl'

- Sugababes - 'About You Now'

- S Club 7 - 'Reach', 'Never Had A Dream Come True', 'Natural', 'Two In A Million', 'Have You Ever'

- Rachel Stevens - 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex'

- Sophie Ellis-Bextor - 'Catch You'

- Diana Vickers - 'Once'

- Will Young - 'Anything Is Possible'

- Mark Ronson - 'Somebody To Love Me'

- Galantis - 'Runaway (You & I)'

Eh, she was doing showcases about a decade ago when she was trying to launch the Sexcassettes project iirc...
The biggest news in this comeback is that she left Simon Fuller. He's been her rock, don't know if she had any career at all without him. Wonder what made her leaving...

Honestly, it's been ages since I listened to her albums but I don't remember "Am I The Kinda Girl?" being that good. Maybe I should give it another spin...

"Move to This" is an underrated classic though. I didn't know it had a reissue a few years ago, so I might pick that up.

Thanks for sharing this great interview! I liked that they talked about their second album, too. Until this day I don't know what happened back then. All the uniqueness of her debut was suddenly gone. I wish the interviewer would have asked her about releasing new music.

I remember back then I always wanted to have the original version of "Just Another Dream" that includes a third verse on CD, but I never got it, only the extended of it on her Mixes album.
