Their fans are already adapting to streaming back in 2011 if you will look at the history of Lighthouse in South Korea but because UK is a bigger market and closer to their home they made a decision to call it a day and to save the legacy of the group. And now because they "abandoned" their fans there and many new things has happened, they hardly can make a big comeback to their singles charts now.

That's why they know it's important for them to have more new hit singles that's why they signed up to a new label. Back in 2007 or 08 I remember them saying that their former record label has told them that they already did everything so this new record label sign up is not a surprise and this is what Take That did as well. It's easier for them to stick their old label and formula and just sell album and tickets but they are taking risks here and fans should be thankful for everything that is happening right now even if it's below your expectations as of the moment.

There's an article recently that they thought the best decision they did for the band is to stop and split. They won't say that if they are flopping.

Celines pre orders will not be THAT big and she will not get to no1. Westlife may not but she will not be big competition even if it is a comeback album. I think Westlife fans do need to chill, the album will hopefully be succesful enough for another one but gone are the days of huge popularity.

By the way I am a straight male and I like Westlife, my kids like them and my wife (a middle aged mum hates them)

Yeah, Where We Are wasn't exactly a huge seller but they still made Gravity afterwards.

They obviously aren't worried or else they would be all desperate like James Arthur who tweeted he wants a no.1 album whole week, its a bit pathetic.

I really think Westlife fans are stressing out way too much, it is what it is. I enjoy their new music. They are obviously still finding themselves as a group but I wouldn't call their singles bad at all.

Maybe it would have been better if they waited for this October to announce the comeback, followed by HML in November and then an album a few weeks later. The buzz would have been huge. BUT I do understand they wanted a comeback tour and it was hugely successful so it was the right decision.

save the legacy from what??

Shane said it by saving the legacy of the group. Meaning saving them from plummeting in the charts and the sales and no one will be bothered about them anymore

THere is no such thing but anyway, Westlife was the most loved act ever. Don't misunderstand my words, they were loved the most but were never the most famous.. THeir core fanbase was really core... They produced extraordinary music the first 5 years but then the quality was on a decline, only You Raise Me Up was a big song for them since then, all their efforts since then were normal at best...

Remember they brought out Swear it again, if i let you go, Flying without wings, My Love, Uptown Girl, When you're looking like that, World Of our own in a period of 2.5 years..

Post You Raise me Up era it was almost nothing, Safe, Home, The Rose, Lighthouse, Better Man, Dynamite, even My Blood cannot be called something extraordinary.. Even a big fan wouldn't bother buying those singles, and that was a big period... That's when the legacy was put in risk...

PS1: I avoided commenting on Frank Sinatra album, even if they now know it was a terrible move, especially the timing(!!!) but it was a terrible move! It was a f***ing turning point..

PS2: Hello My Love and Us Against The World were 2 singles which were released later and i would personally consider them as westlife level songs :)

I happen to love Lighthouse and Allow Us to Be Frank. Might be one of the few fans who does). Safe is really good too, love the big belty chorus and the orchestral bits. Not your typical WL song but love it. The Rose and Home are more your typical WL songs, start off slow, choir towards the end. :yahoo:

Totally agree on Better Man, My Blood and Dynamite. all subpar. Eager to hear the song James Arthur wrote for them, that guy can sing his face off. They're also rumoured to have worked with James Bay, love his music.

According to Gloucester Rugby site regarding the Stadium tour "global pop kings perform all of their greatest hits..... as well as sensational up-tempo songs from their forthcoming new album 'Spectrum'." This is concerning for me and sort of confirms what Kian did say about the album being mostly uptempo songs but their fanbase loves ballads

I wouldn't worry about that, Hello My Love, Dynamite and even My Blood can be considered as mid/uptempo, meaning that they will probably add 2 more new songs that could be something different. I am sure they aren't talking about the new songs from the album as the album isn't out yet.

I am more annoyed that this will probably be yet another GH tour in which they will do the same setlist + 4-5 songs from the Spectrum album.

The song? Not a surprise. Hello My love Dynamite When You're Looking like That and World of our own are more supported than their ballads now
Sales era can't be compared to the streaming dominating era now. Their age now can't be compared to their age before period. The music genre dominating before and now can't be compared period. The Ed connection is to invite new fans, which is what they wanted to do ever since even to their lowest but because they're at their lowest before they can't do that. They are just doing the right thing for trying.

Yes, they can be compared. You only have to look at their recent singles sales which indicate poor streaming figures. Also, other artists of a similar demographic age give a strong clue. Westlife will do okay on physicals but it is streaming where they will really struggle which is essentially done by mainly young people that don’t fit their target audience!

They confirmed it on Twitter.

L.O.V.E. reminds me of Nat King Cole song but I doubt they would cover that

This might not be news but I just found out the vinyl will be out on the 22nd. Normally this would indicate that they are confident with their first week sales, but with Universal totally f*cking up and not seeming to have a plan for releasing or promoting whatsoever, I don't know what to think of this.

Maybe they want to keep a strong second week sales
They have 2 live TV shows during the release week.. Children in need and Strictly come dancing... #1 album is on the way after 12 years! :o :o :o [i hope] :)
