February 9, 20214 yr I guess it is possible they have been dropped by poor sales but at the same time, Hello My Love was a decent hit and the tour have sold well so I kind of doubt label would cut them just because the album didn't sell to their expectations. Also, I will believe in world tour when I see the dates. So many times they have painted UK/Ireland tour as a world tour. I also have a feeling they will postpone the tour like everyone is these days. Edited February 9, 20214 yr by zeze88
February 9, 20214 yr I believe Hello My Love has sold ~500.000 in the UK alone but single sales provide almost no profit compared to album sales which cost like 9-10 times more than album. I would also expect more sales from Spectrum but let's face it, they are 22 year old boyband. Not even 2 years artists can sell more than them after all. Still their music this year was decent but no song was out of the ordinary so fair play to them. Maybe the next album might provide the big hit.
February 9, 20214 yr Author well it is more of the company's decision to let them go in my opinion with the current situation of the music industry and maybe of the company right now. What they announced now, I have already heard it before. we will see. Maybe that new contract was one of those proposed contracts they didn't sign from 2018. Good to hear Spectrum sold 500k worldwide with the situation we have right now.
February 9, 20214 yr I don't think they were dropped, they already have a new label: Westlife has parted with its record label as the pop band has announced a new album along with a world tour. The boyband announced tonight that it has parted with EMI Records by “mutual consent due to a change of leadership and a breakdown of contractual negotiations.” In a statement released on social media, the band said it’s “very proud” to have achieved huge success with the record label with its number one album Spectrum and by being its biggest selling UK artist in 2019. It was the first album in eight years released by four of the original band members Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily. “This change now allows us to embark on a very exciting new chapter,” the statement read. "The next 18 months is shaping up to be our biggest yet, including a groundbreaking global partnership which we will be announcing imminently. “We can also reveal we have started to work on our brand new album due to release later this year. “Lastly, the most exciting part of all is that we get to see all of you again and it’s been a long time coming, as we embark on our biggest ever world tour. “This will take us across 5 continents including a sold out Wembley Stadium and for the first time ever we will be bringing our live shows to America. “In the meantime, everybody stay safe and we’ll see you soon.” Edited February 9, 20214 yr by Mullo
February 9, 20214 yr Hopefully they do have another label lined up unless they are going with their own label and releasing that way, i think they could have been given more slack from the label considering they didn't get to tour the album which would have got more album sales, hello my love did well for them, i think the album sales are probably disappointing as i think the label were probably expecting at least platinum in the UK for it but their sales are in line with many albums released right now and for a band thats over 20 years old they did well. I think the label may have made the mistake of comparing the Westlife reunion with Take That as their comeback albums was massive but the sales were never going to equate as it was completely different time in the industry and sales of albums have fallen dramatically since then. Westlife will remain a very profitable band as they can sell sell tour tickets in huge numbers with ease.
February 9, 20214 yr i think they already accepted an offer for an album, thats the outcome from their statement. sounds very make or break album / year for me.
February 9, 20214 yr I dont think a new album will sell any more than spectrum, spectrum gained from the comeback hype a new album may gain from touring etc but should equal each other out. In this climate though 150k is not bad sales for an album.
February 9, 20214 yr Think this is massive for them. Spectrum was a disaster from the start and they would have had a massive comeback without poor management relying on Ed Sheerhan. First time ive been an excited fan in a while.
February 9, 20214 yr I definitely wouldn't call it disaster, no matter what anyone thinks of HML, the song had longetivity and the album had 3 singles which is more than what they had in the last few years.
February 9, 20214 yr Was not a disaster but in my opnion the record label got it wrong, the spectrum idea should have been scrapped as well. Dynamite was awful. On another note, so happy! Spotifybhave hadded the missing greatestbhits 1 tracks to the greatest hits (new one) along with over and over and the US world of our own mix. Made my day. Love takes two is stunning. Praying the boys are back properly this time.
February 9, 20214 yr Thats kind of good news. But they lost many years already. Anybody here knows how can tonight/miss u nights become gold? Do the physical sales of this single count towards each song individually along with any stream of the songs or they are considered 3 different components? The physical single tonight and mis u nights
February 9, 20214 yr It would be great if they could release 2 singles before the album. In any case, its great to talk about Westlife again but I can't help but feel sad at the same time because I can't share it with my friend. You might remember Navid from this thread, he was disappointed by Spectrum. He died last September, he was just 35. Westlife brought us together, we have been in contact for 9 years. I am glad he managed to make his dream come true and see the boys live in Dubai. Edited February 9, 20214 yr by zeze88
February 10, 20214 yr oh thats terrible news.... Of course we remember him - how did he die? he was from Iran right?
February 10, 20214 yr Have just seen they have added rare songs and bsides to spotify..have them all but still good.
February 10, 20214 yr oh thats terrible news.... Of course we remember him - how did he die? he was from Iran right? Yes, he was from Iran. Last time we spoke was on September 8th, he sounded ok. So imagine my shock mid-December when his father contacted me via Navid's Viber to let me know he passed away 3 months ago, which means he must have passed away shortly after we last talked. He hadn't wished me happy birthday on the 30th which is something he never missed so I presume he was already gone. It was something with his liver, the surgery was unsuccessful. He loved Westlife so much but he didn't blindly love everything they did which was great, we had many debates over them. He was thrilled when he saw them live for the first time, being their fan from the very beginning. Edited February 10, 20214 yr by zeze88

February 10, 20214 yr Somebody create a new Westlife - TBA thread already hahaha If this timeline will be like in 2018 maybe we will have a new single in May. What do you think? Hahahah exciting times. Looking forward to their new album in November Yeah, it would be great if they squeeze in 2 singles before the album release like last time. I am excited to see what kind of sound they chose. will it be more of the same like Spectrum or whether they are willing to be a bit more creative.
