How many of the semi-finalist can quality for the final?

  • Author

Just the first ten, but from 2007 they are changing it so that only the big four and the top six of 2006 final go directly through, so then 14 will qualify from the semi-final.

Imo, they should scrap the semi, go back to the relegation rule, only have the finalists voting, have them read out from 1-12 and kick out a few of the Baltics and Balkan countries.

Thanks for the addition Boyan, ESC Forever shows quite a different view for many songs.
Why should they kick out some baltic and balkan countries? I almost always prefer their songs to the so called 'big four' songs for the past few years, they have just as much right to be in the contest as anyone else in the EU
UK very mid-table in all of these polls...hope Daz's performance can pull in the voters :-)

I'm not dissing the quality of their songs, but their votes no doubt have a major affect on the final outcome of some of the countries that have been in the ESC for many more years. I think the balance should be more equal, rather than having five Baltic countries in once contest there should only be two maybe but it doesn't really make any difference now anyway cuz even if they're not in it they can still vote.

Take Slovenia's votes from last year for example: Bosnia-Herzegovina 8 points, Serbia & Montenegro 10 points, Croatia 12 points. It just gets boring and predictable now.

From the Oikotimes Europrediction here is what countries outside of Europe think:

This list of ballots includes votes from Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and China:

12 pts to Greece

10 pts to Romania

08 pts to Belgium

07 pts to Bosnia & Herzegovina

06 pts to Spain

05 pts to Sweden

04 pts to Armenia

03 pts to Croatia

02 pts to Germany

01 pt to FYR Macedonia

No United Kingdom there :( but in a nice way, their opinions don't matter a great deal! They won't be voting in the real thing.
