Girls Aloud stormed out of the Forth FM Award show yesterday after they were forced to perform the wrong single.

Huge numbers of police swarmed the centre of Edinburgh yesterday as the Girls came to pick up a best artist award.

The band left the awards abruptly, however, reportedly fuming after technical staff played the wrong single as they began their three song performance.

Having Girls Aloud performing at the local radio awards represented something of a coup for Forth FM, but station bosses were left red-faced after the pen*s-up.

The five glamorous singers posed on the stage ready to begin their pre-rehearsed dance routine, but they were left looking shell-shocked when the backing music to their old single ‘Jump’ started blaring out.

The girls left abruptly after the performance, heading straight to the airport.

Girls Aloud also performed after listeners voted them Forth One Best Artist Award.

The group got off to a rocky start as they sang an apparently unrehearsed version of the classic Jump, with a few of the Girls struggling to find the right key. But after apologising to the crowd - "we don't normally play that song for people sitting down at tables" - they got the crowd on their feet as they gyrated around to their new single, Something Kinda Ooooh.
