October 11, 20222 yr September whizzed by so fast. I'm beginning to actually start seriously thinking about Christmas although I don't usually until November. Re Darius I'm concentrating more on his legacy rather than his loss. For 20 years Darius has been my inspiration. In crises or doubt, something I remembered Darius saying or a song lyric would strike a chord and re-energise and motivate me to rise above the negativity and deal with whatever it was one step at a time. As fans we are so lucky to have many special and personal memories to continue to inspire us because Darius was always so accessible, so open-hearted and so inclusive. Frankly I've had a real virtual Darius immersion session. I think it was important for me. We all grieve in different ways and that and the accompanying reflection and the power of prayer was my way. "Onward and upwards!" I'm trying but struggling to find the best process to move forward after his death. Maybe because I'm still struggling to believe he's actually died. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Someone made a good point on Facebook the other day it's strange how it's hit all us fans so hard and yet we didn't actually know him not really. October 17, 20222 yr It’s because he made us feel so special every time we met him that we feel we knew him. I still can’t believe he’s gone. I still see his face and hear his voice. Sue
October 18, 20222 yr I can't believe I've just read on twitter Kinda love is 18 years old today and according to Instagram it was Cyrus who chose it to be the first single off live twice 🤯 Edited October 18, 20222 yr by Polly

October 24, 20222 yr I've just read on Instagram that a new website has been created in memory of Darius. It's www.darius-campbell-danesh. com 🥲 I know we have this forum but a forum has now been added to the website aswell for people to share memories of D although I haven't posted on there yet. There are also videos and photos for people to look at. I still can't look at videos although I'm finding it easier to look at photos now but still makes me feel a bit sad. It's a lovely website to keep D's memory alive. Still finding it hard to believe he's gone. 😟 Edited October 24, 20222 yr by Polly
October 30, 20222 yr Not relevant anymore but I thought I'd post anyway. The first preview of FHTE revival was last night. I wanted to know if it was worth seeing so I asked on theatre board forum. Some people really liked it but wanted people to bare in mind that it needs to be viewed as a completely new show and not expect it to be like the original. Some say it's been changed so much it's lost some of the grit and edginess of the original and they've removed some of the songs which they found unforgivable and they've put some of the songs in a completely different place which doesn't make sense. I know none of us will probably want to see it but I just wanted to know if it was worth seeing I think people are unsure about whether it works as a show now although they did like the new cast. November 2, 20222 yr Stuart Brayson paid tribute to D and his family at the end of this podcast. I still can't believe it's true 😟 https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/be-ou...i=1000582770631
November 4, 20222 yr Fulsome personal tribute. I'm glad Stuart made a point of mentioning how hard Darius worked to support the show in every way. I think the cast of the original FHTE all put every effort into it because they believed passionately in it. I am so glad I have the OLC recording CD and the DVD. I really regret that there was no DVD of Funny Girl. I'm sure Darius would have loved to work with Stuart on another project. Darius was the ideal cast member to promote the shows he did on daytime TV and radio. He was never distracted by the often inane questions which he answered politely and always managed to get over precise, detailed info about the show. On or off stage/screen Darius was charismatic and a great communicator. I loved the fact that Darius's personal preparation for any role always included the primary source of it. For example, I'd be surprised if many others taking over as Sky Masters on would have read the original Damon Runyon stories Guys and Dolls was based on. Wasn't Coronation Street 's nod to Darius's passing a nice poosurprise?Colourblind playing in the Rovers Return in a scene with Fiz and Tyrone.

I think I might of been wrong. From further reviews I've read I think people are actually quite liking it.
November 11, 20222 yr According to Natasha's Instagram her film House red which D produced will be streaming on demand from the 15th November. I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch it knowing it was one of the last films D produced 😟 but I thought I'd mention it. Here is the trailer if anyone wants to see it https://m.imdb.com/title/tt6053192/ It looks quite good to be honest. The film was made in 2019. I wonder if they are realising it now in memory of Darius? I think that would be a lovely gesture. Edited November 15, 20222 yr by Polly
November 13, 20222 yr Thanks, Polly. I saw the trailer for the revival of the show online. It looks to me much more in the traditional musical vein than the original West End show which stuck to the tone and spirit of Jones's book. It was all about authenticity. They got a director of serious drama. The show depicted the bleakness of the era, the brutality and boredom of military life and the macho culture of the times. The club was clearly a brothel. The language was of the era too. Everything was minimalist, muted dull sets right down to the icky green paint in the barracks to the dull lighting throughout. The show proved to be a powerful and almost harrowing evening of entertainment. A marmite production. I suspect it had to be that true to the book to get the rights in the first place and might prevent direct comparison with the Hollywood film. I remember a critic saying their Hawaii was one where the sun apparently never shone. Seems like the revival has taken that on board. Thirty Year Man is definitely more uptempo and the lighting looks much brighter. This is apparently a limited run. Wonder if they'll tour it. Maybe instead they'll open in a large theatre next year and call it the 10 year anniversary. In any case, it's good to see it back where it belongs and seemingly being well received.
November 15, 20222 yr Got it wrong. FHTE is not yet back where it belongs. Apparently it's in Charing Cross theatre and that's off West End. Warden doesn't sing Marking Time any more. He now sings At Ease. I think Darius also sang it in the very early previews of the original West End shows.

November 20, 20222 yr If it's appropriate to post I found out D and Gerard were at the fun fair when he was pictured for the final time 😟 I hope they had a good day together. It was nice that they found time to speak to fans while they were there although if it's appropriate to say I don't think D looks very healthy in the photos personally but I do hope he was happy in his final days. https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-...readmore-target Edited November 22, 20222 yr by Polly

November 25, 20222 yr Gareth Gates paid a nice tribute to D today on loose women https://metro.co.uk/2022/11/25/gareth-gates...death-17828075/
November 26, 20222 yr If it's appropriate to post. D's girlfriend has paid tribute to him. I was wondering if he had a girlfriend. If they were still together when he passed I'm glad he found love again and I hope she is doing ok. https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news...omments-wrapper Edited December 23, 20222 yr by Polly
November 28, 20222 yr The fair pictures came so unexpectedly and left me with mixed emotions. It was comforting to see Darius looking well and happy and apparently in a group, not just with Gerard. Seeing him with the fan) brought back memories of Darius's neverending patience, warmth, and sheer radiance with everyone. You always found him the same no matter how big a crowd. He wouldn't let anyone down. Then I remembered he'd gone and grief came rushing back. I hadn't expected to feel so bereft again. I thought I'd rationalised it all and come to terms with his sudden death. I guess the sadness will come back in waves.
