"Ecstasy" seems the most appropriated choice to be honest. I would say "Burns Night" may work as an instrumental ballad too. However, could "Faith" be an option too?

 

Either way, I think that we should pick and/or decide the songs to be picked for the rounds with restrictions first and then, go to the ones with free choices.

A song that started an era

Eligible songs are: Acceptable in the 80s, I'm Not Alone, Bounce, Under Control, Slide

 

Depends on how strong the competition is, we probably won't last too long but we shouldn't send INA this early. 80s finished the 2nd highest in the rate out of that lot but all of them are popular.

 

A song without an official music video

has to be Slide for this one.

 

Worst single

That rate bottom 3 (Open Wide, Off The Record, Hype) all seem very much doomed but thankfully we have the option to go for bottom 3 sellers too (do we know what those are? I'm going to presume Merrymaking, Faking It and Nuh Ready [from official singles as a primary performer])

 

A non-top 75 charting hit

'Faking It' probably the best option for this, our only other options are 'Checklist', 'Slow Acid' and 'Cuba'. 'Checklist' we could perhaps do if we want to use 'Faking It' for Worst Single.

 

A ballad album track

'Ecstasy' is basically his only one isn't it? :lol:

Given they want to start tomorrow do we go strong with something like Promises?

I assume the other AF mods are going to send strong choices, so I don't think we should send any of the ones that could have a chance to go to the next round instead of strongest picks we could use for later rounds in the first round. That said, I agree that "Promises" is a good pick to begin, so we could go with the following in the first three rounds:

 

Round 1: "Promises"

Round 2: "Bounce" / "Under Control"

Round 3: "Slide"

I’d be happy with that. as for round 2 I think Under Control is better rated here than Bounce, it just came to my mind that we sent Bounce in an early round last time and we almost got eliminated with it.

 

if we get to round 4 do we wanna go with One Kiss provided Dua don’t get in there this round? that one is a free for all between the two due to the joint lead credit. so we can’t wait too long if we wanna use it (and I know you mod both so maybe you could convince the other Dua mods to avoid it :kink:)

I was wondering which song between "Bounce" and "Under Control" could be a better choice, but based on what you said, I guess we should go with the latter. Regarding "One Kiss", I'm fine to use it in the Calvin Harris forum and I think it's fair considering that Joe and I stole it in the first edition of AF Idol for the Dua Lipa forum.

 

As a side note, I'm planning to create a discussion thread to see what posters think about possible picks in different rounds. I already did that for the Dua Lipa forum, so I think we should go with this too here, although I'm not expecting a lot of discussion, but I wanted to be proven wrong. That said, I think we have the following so far.

 

Round 1: "Promises"

Round 2: "Under Control"

Round 3: "Slide"

Round 4: "One Kiss"

Round 5: "Merrymaking At My Place" / "Faking It"

Round 6: "Faking It" / "Checklist"

Round 7: "Ecstasy" / "Faith"

Round 5 has been altered to the following specification:

If we get to this round, we should submit the bottom 3 from this ("Open Wide", "Off The Record" or "Hype") or this ("Drinking From The Bottle", "Off The Record" or "Merrymaking At My Place"). The latter is a little bit outdated because it's until 2014, but I think it could benefit us to submit "Merrymaking At My Place". I was initially thinking about this ("Faking It", "Merrymaking at My Place" or "Nuh Ready Nuh Ready"), but this was a survivor, so I don't think this is eligible in this round.

I reckon Drinking has a better chance than any of the others you’ve listed.

I was going with "Merrymaking At My Place" because I prefer this over "Drinking From The Bottle", but if the latter has better reception than the former, I don't have any issue to send this one instead. Either way, I guess we're screwed. :lol:

I don't think we're saving "Acceptable In The 80s" for later rounds, unless we're planning to use it for a free round as you said, Lewis. As a consequence, we probably could consider it instead of "Under Control" in this round. The ones that we're saving from these options are "I'm Not Alone" (later rounds) and "Slide" (next round).
