Hes working with Guy Chambers - you know, power ballad, Robbie co writer.

He hasnt brought out a soppy power ballad or formulaic track.

Its not a cover.

Presumably he's been allowed to do his own thing.

It's real unlike your Princess Nikki's fake e4 show.

 

Of course you're allowed to hate it but at least it's trying to be something different, which really surprised me about this as I was convinced he'd 'sold out'! After him ditching his band as well - but I do think this song is actually quite fun and good.

 

I doubt it'll be a hit but that just proves that Pete is what he is - not a boring, run of the mill conformist who doesn't care about what people think. :dance:

wether this track is good or not is largely besides the point.... it is different, it isnt a formulaic pop track but is something that pete himself has created. that alone deserves respect.

Jeez, it's not that different, it's just a re-hash of the punk era, which the majority were glad to see the back of anyway, although I do like the sample used at the end. Also mushymanrob, a persons age doesn't make them an authority on music, nor does it guarantee good taste either. :D

Lots of people don't like his song. It doesn't mean their tastes are subjective or that they're young and/or ignorant. It just means they have a different opinion to yours.

Well I think it does mean that. The people who havent liked his song - do they listen to techno/electronica/experimental music? They also haven't gave (bar a few) constructive critiscm of it. it's so lamely - this song is different - doesnt fit my 'box' - it's not good. Thats exactly why he and I are angry.

 

I think R'n'b and Urban music is a pile of $h!te. I absolutely deteste it but I dont go into the forums and post about how much I hate it, I just dont listen to it and dont let it bother/worry me or more importantly annoy other people in the forum by having to read someone who doesnt like a sound moan about it. So if for example someone from BB released an Urban song I would not like it - it's as simple as that and that doesn't mean it's a bad song, just it's not to my taste.

what a load of nonsense!

 

FACT... we are still living with the legacy of the punk era... in fashions, styles of music, equality in music (there would be no female rock stars and arguable no pop stars either), the only people who were 'glad to see the back' of punk were the boring squares... the very people who accept pap pop as acceptable (as their sole diet).

 

what a persons age does do however is give them a first hand insight into the things that they witnessed first hand. what the young generation is doing (and probably always has done) is judge things by the experiences they have.... now that all well and good. however you cant take todays values and interpret yesterdays events in the same light.

 

historically musical styles evolved as a direct response to the socio-political events of the time that were pertainent to that generation. kids had something to say and said it through various NEW styles. the best way of understanding the music is by living through and being part of a movement.

 

and being old DOES give you a far greater knowlege of music then someone who is under half you age! lol thats bloody obvious!

 

taste?... thats personal but again it grieves me that the young dont have their own strong style but are left with my generations left overs! lol, which is why i support petes track, it aint cut out of the same formulaic mould as all the other pop tracks do today. i want to see the young break away from the spoonfed c**p the likes of waterman, cowell, walsh etc thrust at us.

I would like to just say though that I can handle and (have said this) people not liking the song. If someone says I dont like this and 'adds a reason' then I wouldnt be annoyed at all...as thats life really! And Im speaking for me not mushymanrob but it upset me too reading ignorant stuff about the song.

The video is placed in the pop forum so pop fans have commented on it. No-one's moaning about it or about a genre - they're just stating that they don't like this song.

If this was a forum dedicated to Pete then it would be unnacceptable for everyone to go into the forum deliberately to slate his song and 'annoy other people'.

But that's not what happened here.

I have no problem with healthy debate, discuss what you like or don't like about the song that's fine.
