Nicky Butt was always good. I never thought it was co-incidence that England won more games when he played than anyone else...

I've always thought he's been pretty c**p to be honest well definitley on the club football level. He was a decent enough player but since he's left Man Utd he's not as good as when he was at Man Utd and I think this is down to the fact that the players around him made him look better than what he actually was.

Yeah I was just agreeing with you on the fact that I think Butt must really have regretted going to Newcastle. :D I mean he had a fair few problems at Man Utd with injuries and everything but now he's just turned into another player that will be labelled as a duff buy thanks to Souness.

Both Butt and Neville are reasonable players but neither ever struck me as world class, Butt just came across to me as a workhorse who was Roy Keane with a much inferior skill level to Keane, Phil Neville struck me as a jack of all trades given the number of positions he could play but a master of none, not a patch on his brother ability wise.

I think both players are good mid table team players

I don't think Phil Neville was that bad, but he was always gonna be seen as invisible Neville. His brother is a much better a player and I think Phil Neville is too versatile for his own good sometimes but your right that he's non other than a mid table player, as he could never hold is own place in the Man Utd starting IX and I can't see him doing the same at Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool etc etc.

Absolutely, yeah if I had ever turned on teletext to see "Spurs in Butt swoop" "Phil Neville joins Spurs" even when they were playing for Man Utd I would have been very disappointed
