The women's game is so far behind the men's game. I know it will improve in time with increased money, sponsorship, viewing figures etc. but the general standard of football is well behind the Men's game. Just my general observation from watching this match.

That was pretty much a woeful game

Looking forward to the Norwegian game, that will test England to the fullest.

How did that Cameroon player not get sent off? first or last minute, that's a red card. The referee was embarrassing.

Thought Cameroon did as much as they could to ruin the women's game - I don't mean to be mean, but you shouldn't be crying or losing your heads when a correct descision goes against you. That is shocking behaviour when you are trying to change the stigma.

The referee was just incredibly weak. At the end of the first half, she should either have shown some yellow cards or just blown for half-time. She just stood around seemingly not knowing what to do. She should also have started showing yellow cards after Cameroon had a goal disallowed.

The two late VAR decisions, the penalty and red card, both seemed to be made to avid the Cameroon players throwing another strop.

I totally agree with what Phil Neville said. The Cameroon players' behaviour was a very poor advert for the women's game. It reminded me of some South American teams in past men's World Cups.

They did get off very lightly there, it was clearly a red card offence. At least the England team kept it together among the mess Cameroon made over it. Also I think the referee is partly to blame for not taking a firm grip of the match instead of observing the Cameroon players going OTT over the VAR system the disallowed goal was a bit like adding salt to their wounds.

The refereeing in this tournament has been abysmal to say the least! Nigeria got screwed over by the referees and VAR twice, Scotland have also suffered as a result of this. It feels like rules are being made up as they go along. It also makes it hard to get properly invested in this tournament, referees seem to be more in favour of the bigger nations.

Well precisely. All this hoo-ha about superior attitudes in the women's game - not on that evidence. Footballers are footballers, they will complain about every decision!

I agree footballers will compain against every decision, but I have not ever seen a reaction to that of the Cameroon women's team. It was childish, pathetic and un-needed. It really doesn't help any stigma attached when you have players literally crying because a goal has correctly been disallowed. Don't think I've ever seen anything like that ever.

Well that from Cameroon was extraordinary. Completely lost their discipline. Should have been down to 8. And the ref was completely.embarrassing completely.out of her depth.
I was watching with the Radio 5 commentary for the second England goal. They were suggesting that one of the Cameroon players might have caught a brief glimpse of the freeze-frame on the big screen which showed an England player in an offside position. The suggestion is that the Cameroon player may have got such a brief glimpse that she didn't realise the player in question wasn't the goal-scorer.

Some people have suggested that VAR wasn't intended to make decisions like the one that ruled out the Cameroon goal. Do we really want to delay the game to rule out a goal because someone was an inch offside? If it was a different sort of decision, it surely would not have counted as a clear and obvious error.

It's nearly as bad as the fact that offside flags no longer go up until the ball goes out of play which is another farce!

Haven't been able to watch but two Rapinoe penalties have us winning 2-1 with barely any time. Were both penalties clear cut?

Sweden beat Canada 1-0 in a hard-fought game to set up a Women's World Cup quarter-final against Germany.

A record-breaking peak UK TV audience of 6.9 million watched on BBC One as England beat Cameroon 3-0 to reach the Women's World Cup quarter-finals.

That is 40.5% of the available audience and beats the previous best for a women's football game of 6.1 million for England's 9 June win over Scotland.

And the Dutch score in the 89th.minute with a penalty to make it 2-1 to them against Japan.

Italy through in the earlier game by 2-0 against China.

All four quarterfinals will be shown on BBC One.

That penalty was very weak, especially at that juncture in the game. I was rooting for Japan because their play was more adventurous and bold.

However, that Daniella De Donk on the Dutch team is a cutie.

If England make the final, I'm guessing they could get an audience of over 10m which would be pretty incredible.
