I personally think in this case, having teams like Japan, Canada, and Brazil not in the QF is a surprise in itself. You have to remember that those non-European teams were originally more of a powerhouse in women's football than some of the newer Euro squads who've developed like France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and England. Those teams were not QF regulars prior to like 2015.

Fifa have opened disciplinary proceedings against Cameroon following their Women's World Cup last-16 loss to England in Valenciennes.

World football's governing body is investigating Cameroon for team misconduct, offensive behaviour and fair play breaches.

It was quite extraordinary from Cameroon on Sunday something I haven't seen at a World Cup.

Quite. I think along with the USA, I considered Japan, Canada, Brazil of course, and China to be huge players in the women's game (largely as that's basically the list of winners/runners-up + Germany and Norway). All European teams left but one team is much more of a shock than it would be in the men's game, where only Brazil and Argentina regularly compete on the same level as the big European teams.

Good stuff from England right now. A shame that they'll come up against unstoppable United States next!
England safely through then! A convincing 3-0 win over Norway to go through to the semi-finals, the third goal in particular was excellent.

Much better play from us this time, especially that third goal! *.* Not convinced that USA/France won't annihilate us as there are still some weak areas (Let's not put Parris on Penalties :')), but here's hoping this will give us the spirit boost~

I was truly gutted for Japan the other day, one of the cruelest defeats I can remember recently. Played with such determination and got so so close and then lost it to a silly mistake.

Have to be better defensively in the semis otherwise I feel it could be a 4-1 win to USA/France if we play like that. Otherwise played very well.
Excellent work by our ladies! I’ll have to try and actually catch the semi-final now, I’ve been slacking with these.
