The 'Group of Death' is D because Namibia are better than that 113th ranking. Also Mauritania have been developing very well the past 5 years or so, as well as Madagascar. I wasn't shocked one bit to see them qualify. Don't be surprised if they make it to the knockout rounds.

I'd have to say Senegal or Morocco win this.

I'm hoping Nigeria win this tournament but predicting a winner is tough because it's such a wide open competition. The tournament actually starts next Friday (21st).

Egypt begin their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with victory over Zimbabwe by 1-0.

I've watched all the games in this so far and it's been great.

You'd think the quality might get diluted with the expanded tournament but the 2 teams who made their debut (Berundi & Madagascar) both played really well.

Oh didn't realise this was on Eurosport, might watch it from tomorrow evening!

Cameroon began the defence of their Africa Cup of Nations crown with victory over Guinea-Bissau in Group F.

Yaya Banana opened the scoring for the Indomitable Lions, heading low into the net from Karl Toko Ekambi's cross.

Stephane Bahoken capitalised on a defensive mix-up three minutes later to seal the points for Clarence Seedorf's side.

Ghana drew 2-2 with Benin in Tuesday's other Group F game.

Nigeria's players are in dispute with the country's football federation in the build-up to their Africa Cup of Nations match against Guinea.

None of the Super Eagles players has received allowances or a $10,000 bonus.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is hoping to prevent a strike before the match in Egypt on Wednesday.

Mohamed Salah made one and scored one as hosts Egypt beat DR Congo 2-0 to move into the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt went ahead when Salah's cross was met by Aston Villa's Ahmed Elmohamady, who finished at the second attempt.

Liverpool forward Salah then added a second with a powerful strike when surrounded by two DR Congo players after a fine run from Trezeguet.

Seven-time winners Egypt join Nigeria in the last 16 of the competition.

The Super Eagles beat Guinea 1-0 in the opening match on Wednesday to become the first nation into the knockout phase.

Oh didn't realise this was on Eurosport, might watch it from tomorrow evening!

Only on Eurosport 2 which is blocked for me -_-

Egypt have sacked head coach Javier Aguirre after the hosts suffered a shock defeat by South Africa in the last-16 of the Africa Cup of Nation.
Madagascar have been the shining light of the tournament so far. Played some really fun and attractive football, well deserving of their quarter-final place. I hope they can go on to win it.

Quarter-final line up:

Senegal v Benin

Madagascar v Tunisia

(Winners meet in first semi-final)

Ivory Coast v Algeria

Nigeria v South Africa

(Winners meet in second semi-final)

Benin beating Morocco was a shock. Still see Senegal as favorites, would love to see Madagascar go further but brutal schedule having to play Tunisia and then Ivory Coast/Algeria winner. I like Algeria out of that sector as they as slowly getting back into form after dropping off the map the last few years after their golden age centered around their 2014 World Cup performance.
A good 2-1 win for Nigeria against South Africa with an 88th minute winner from William Troost-Ekong after South Africa had a goal wrongly given through VAR despite the South Africa player being in an offiside position. I have not been able to watch any of this tournament up until now but will hopefully be able to catch the closing stages.
