Yes I shuffled Oceanic Feeling back to the end on the last revision. I find Solar Power after The Path a little bit like a not quite so good version of a similar song where as mid way through it seems to sound more fresh to me - edit, for absolutely nobody's interest other than my own I've settled on...

A1 The Path

A2 Mood Ring

A3 Stoned at the Nail Salon

A4 Helen of Troy

A5 Solar Power

A6 Secrets From a Girl (Who's Seen it All)

B1 California

B2 Fallen Fruit

B3 The Man with the Axe

B4 Hold No Grudge

B5 Leader of a New Regime

B6 Big Star

B7 Oceanic Feeling

The final minute of 'California' perfectly captures that wistful summer feeling I think they were going for across the record — but didn't quite reach. It's stunning.

I think what pains me the most with this album as a whole is how much potential it had to be something really great — the bones are here. It starts strong but becomes one-note towards the end, and it feels like a conscious decision was made to rein it in and not let moments be moments.

Yeah this was exactly what I thought as well - like I said in my little review 'The Path' sounds like a much better version of the same general formula 'Solar Power' was going for, which kind of just made the latter sound even more underwhelming in the context of the album than it did as a single oops! Agree it might have sounded better being a bit later in the tracklist.

i listened through yesterday and have to admit i wasn't grabbed by anything until mood ring - and now i just have that on repeat as it is SO good! hoping to be hooked with a few more listens - think it would help if it was sunny out lol.
The discourse surrounding this album online is utterly insane.

You're literally thr only one defending it and trying to claim these are her best songs ever  We've all heard the same album. We know it's bad.

I literally said the album was too one-note on this very page.

I'm actually talking about the narrative that has formed online (and in some reviews) that isn't quite about the (fairly inoffensive, to its detriment) music itself but rather how distasteful it is for this privileged white woman to choose now to release a happier record. It's getting weird.

Confused you with the other poster in here I think. I don't understand the criticism in that second lime. For me, it is just too inoffensive, bland and beige, with no impetus to it. I don't understand why a woman is not allowed to be happy right now? Makes no sense.

she is amazing <3

‘Mood Ring’ def the album highlight from my first listen!
It's currently competing with Olivia Rodrigo for No.1. Solar Power is leading on digital downloads but Sour is leading in physical copies and streams.

she was selling also a disc-less CD :D so you were basically buying a box with no cd inside but a download code... it was like 15 pounds so not sure if anyone bought it :D

I bought it! More fool me but it’s a pretty box at least - and so it should be for that price.

The download code was only for Wav files as well, I appreciate the devotion to quality but I don’t have that much free space on my laptop/old iPod so had to convert them anyway

The code also gives you access to a sort of ‘fan club’ and apparently demos and other songs will be uploaded to this in the coming months so hopefully its value will become more clear over time!

That’s the same code I got with my vinyl, worth it as at least it contained the bonus tracks. I’ve seen a few of these sort of things before and they usually, rather like a dandy* hosted thing on Buzzjack, start with a bang and lots of promise before very quickly fizzling out to one minor update every 6 months - if updated at all.
