Remake was gory???? Wre you watching the same film as me  There was about 1 gory moment in the whole film! The rest of it was rather creepy, brilliantly acted, and superbly written.

It was certainly more gory, sadistic and over-done than the original ever was. The thing with the original is that it's directed and edited in such a superb way, that you think you're seeing something when in fact you dont... The direction and editing in the remake was p***-poor when you consider the amount of money and resources that were available to the film-makers. The acting by R Lee Ermey was certainly good, but as for the rest....... I coudn't connect with the characters in any way, I found them rather tedious and lacking in any depth (there were certainly no Franklins amongst their number...) and simply didn't care when Leatherface started offing them... Jessica Biels' character is particulary stupid - she knifes one of her friends in the GUTS to 'relieve his suffering'.... Hmmm, well, anyone with a rudimentary knowlege of anatomy, or indeed who's ever seen "Reservoir Dogs", knows damn fine that being shot or knifed in the guts is one of the most lingering and painful ways you can possibly die...... Why not slit the guy's jugular, or the main artery in the leg...? Over in a matter of seconds....

Well maybe Im biased towards Jessica Biel because she is FINE ^_^

But Ive already said, I havent got time to write an essay on a film I like because you don't! I like The Texas Chainsaw massacre Remake because I found it creepy, and I found the acting very convincing and I felt really sorry for the characters.

Now Im not going to waste 30 minutes of my day writing an essay on why i think its a good film because there the main reasons I found it scary.

You may not agree but I dont really care ^_^

Fine, you dont care, so why even fukkin' bother putting up the thread in the first place then, if you dont care...? You want me to 'understand' and 'respect' you... Then give me summat to work with, otherwise your whole thread is just one bloody almighty whinge about how you feel you dont get "nuff respeck....". respect is earned.....

And, by the way, you've probably 'wasted' more than 30 minutes actually replying to everyone than by writing one or two well thought out, well argued opinions..

Frankly, if you think posting on here is a 'waste of time' then I'd rather you didn't bother to be honest, your attitude leaves a fair bit to be desired... Sorry, but I want people on here who are actually willing to debate cinema instead of spammers who have nowt to say....

Well theres no need to swear is there?

Surely people can post their opinions on films without getting into a mass debate about it?

Well, to be fair to Jessie, she wasn't given a whole hell of a lot to work with, I was pretty impressed with her performance in "Rules of Attraction"....

I'm swearing because I'm totally exasperated by your pretty rotten attitude to this Forum....

And I'm sorry, but opinions DO have to be backed up with something - it doesn't have to be really in-depth, just something that we can all share - or it's just noise....

OK then, my opinion is I like the remake

Heres the opinion backup-

I like it because I found the setting creepy, the acting superb and the gore was minimul which built up tension and created a scary atmospehere

happy now :)

Well, if you hadn't actually already said that several times before I might be...... -_-

Is repeating the same thing over and over the best you can do...? Little tip for you - use a spell checker...

So if you already saw I backed my opinion up with some points, why did you harp on about that fact that I hadnt done it Christ

Well, you have to admit, it was pretty basic..... I'm sure you can do a lot better if you actually tried....

And dont give me this rubbish about 'not having the time', you've been on here for well over an hour and could easily have written a bloody essay by now.....

Personally I often enjoy reading GRIMLY FIENDISH's post's although you can be a bit intimidating at times :P lol

But movies unlike music is more of a grey area. Some people think Jackass is a masterpiece, others would rather go on a date with leatherface then watch c**p like that. lol, and so on. Their is nothing wrong with a healthy debate - that is the "fun" of the cinema forum I think.

To be honest, I quite enjoyed the extremely dumb-ass idiocy of "Jackass"... They're just hurting themselves at the end of the day; I particularly enjoyed the bit on the golf course... Fanstastic... All these pretentious, white, upper-middle class, country-club fukkwits who take that frankly ridiculous sport so damn seriously just totally having the pish ripped out of them..... Classic.....

As a very wise man once said - "Golf totally ruins a decent walk.." :P

Ah yes, but the whole point of a Cimema forum is to discuss your opinion. I can back up for ages why I think bridget Jones Dairy is a class film, the same way I could back up why I think Some Like It Hot is a classic.

Callum is just dismissing other people opinion, and then gets annoyed when others do the same back to him.

For the record, I think GRIMLYS posts are amoungst the best on the whole fourm.

I thank you for your compliments Jester, but I reckon some of Consie's posts on this Forum are even better than mine.... :)

Thanks but you're crazy! Your additions to the forum are by far the most articulate, substantial and well-researched. And you and tigerboy have both seen wayyyy more films than me. I just see a film every once in a while, find it personally offensive and apalling, and come here to rant about it. :)

Funny you should mention "Rules of Attraction" ..... oh how I loathe that film

Really, I find it kinda odd and quirky.... Interesting to see James Van Der Beek totally playing against type and being a bit of a w/anker as Sean Bateman as opposed to the annoyingly goody-goody Dawson....

But, as with "American Psycho", what made an utterly compelling read, did not quite translate so well to screen.....

Anyway, when you rant, it's usually a rant with an actual purpose....

The performances were fine but I didn't like the story... I'm supposed to feel sorry for a bunch of snotty, rich, gorgeous kids who suddenly realize ****ing isn't making them happy and they want to be loved?? And that random, unnecessary suicide scene dropped in the middle - awful! I may be overexaggerating but I think bull$h!t like that is harmful. People commit suicide because they have mental disorders, people don't commit suicide because they're in love with the cute guy down the hall but he's dating another girl. And how many dormitory bathrooms have bathtubs anyway!?? -_-

..Erm, I stayed in a Halls of Residence that did....  Anyway, the character that Van der Beek played wasn't really one of the 'rich kids' anyway.... He was deffo 'wrong side of the tracks' and was in debt to a psychotic heroin dealer..... Not exactly 'priveleged'.... The suicide scene was quite poignant I felt (but it's done better in Ellis' book...)... It was the girl you see in lots of scenes but dont even notice, no one notices her, not just the bloke she fancies... But NO ONE.... AT ALL.... Including the cinema audience.... I think that was put in to make us all feel a sense of guilt and culpability in her extreme depression.... The person you see out the corner of your eye but never notice, the whole concept of being totally alone in a crowd of people....

Im not dismissing his opinion actually, I accept he likes films which I don't like, but I find him very patronising when someone DARES not to like one of his precious favourites

thats the main problem in genral its is supposed to be an entertainment discussion forum where we can discuss things, have opinions (for and against) but really its just a fansite to worship false idols where people get really really boo hoo when you say that their obsessive faves are rubbish.

Funny you should mention "Rules of Attraction" ..... oh how I loathe that film

i liked rules of attraction and now wished i highlighted it as one of the films of the week to look out for on tv the other week. but then again i thought maybe it wouldnt get all the posts it should.

Well maybe Im biased towards Jessica Biel because she is FINE ^_^

well I think jessica is very attractive, and so is Scarlett Johansson too (when the stylists are not trying too hard) however i agree with this  that she's a bit rubbish in some parts.

Somewhere along the line, though, people who should have known better began to cast Johansson in roles for which she was not suited. And once the actress was asked to play anyone other than a twenty-something Yank born and raised on the east coast in the waning years of the 20th century, it became apparent that she wasn't much of an actress. Period pieces have been especially unkind to her; she cannot pull off the tarty English accent in The Prestige, and her cheesecake shots in The Black Dahlia make her look like a blind convent girl marauding through Marilyn Monroe's lingerie drawer.

Basically, her acting repertory consists of staring intently at the person she is speaking to, keeping her lips spread apart, and hoping no one will notice that she is no threat to Meryl Streep, and not all that much of a threat to Hilary Duff .

Because Johansson has made so many movies in such a short period of time, and because most of them have been so bad, and because several of these movies have been outright disasters at the box office, it's starting to look like the actress is the kiss of death.

Really, I find it kinda odd and quirky.... Interesting to see James Van Der Beek totally playing against type and being a bit of a w/anker as Sean Bateman as opposed to the annoyingly goody-goody Dawson....

I agree - I LOVED Rules of Attraction - read the book years ago and loved it.... and think the movie did a pretty decent job of recreating the book.

Now American Psycho on the other hand..... :puke2:

Trivia about Rules... when the boy goes on his whistle-stop world tour.... in the London segment, he's fleetingly shown with none other than Keren Woodward of Bananarama ;) I hope you all feel enlightened
