To be fair I don't think many people (especially young people) would know that word. I don't think Callum's much older than me and I don't know it. It's not a common word, I've never heard anyone use it before and I passed both english gcse's so I'm not bad at english.

Yeah, but the standard of English they teach in most schools today is utterly shocking, 'grammar' seems to be a dirty word, and very few school leavers, it seems, would even know what the hell the subjunctive clause was if it bit them in the arse.... I went to uni with school leavers who HAD passed GCSEs that could barely string a two coherent sentences together when writing essays and seminar reports. Most of the time when I was in groups it ended up being ME who would do the presentation or writing the group statement because I was actually taught how to use the proper sentence structure and grammar back when I was at school in the 80s...!! My year started off with over 100 students, by the time we finished up more than half had dropped out, mostly due to not being able handle the demands of the course...

There really is nothing worse than not being able to use your own language properly....

whats the difference between this racism and Borat? Both are racist but both good movies

I can put it in two words (just to make things simple for you..) - Irony, Satire..... "Borat" has both of these elements, "Hostel" does not.... And frankly if you cant tell the difference between the representations of race in a film like "Borat" and a film like "Hostel" then you're in big trouble....

"Borat" is not a racist film.... If you're referring to all the supposed 'anti-semitic' stuff in "Borat" then you should really be aware that Sacha Baron Cohen is in fact himself Jewish..... Mel Brooks put plenty of Jewish gags in his films as well.....

Both are good films IMO and both deserve oscars ^_^

Anyway it's well worth £2. It gets pretty silly at the end but that's really when I begin to enjoy it. Just don't take it too seriously and you'll enjoy too.

i thought it was very very funny.

the style of the humour is very very jewish. in some of his quicksmart remarks as borat you can see the lineage of people like Groucho Marx (Rufus T. Firefly in duck soup, obv trying getting on track to horror films here    )

Erm, no, not really... Most of the world's problems are fundamentally caused by a lack of communication; between people, between cultures, and this breeds ignorance, ignorance breeds fear, fear breeds hate, hate breeds violence........

It's called "the snowballing effect".....

The inability to use language properly and effectively is a major contributor to this fundamental problem of communication....

Well, Sacha Baron Cohen certainly deserves at least a nomination for his faultless performance as Borat.....

As for "Hostel".....That deserves to wipe the boards at the Raspberry Awards.....

I disgree

I disagree

Care to elaborate on that utterly ill-informed and blatantly WRONG opinion......

Oh, by the way, this is a reply to the FIRST thing you disagreed with seeing as how you stupidly put the same thing up twice to completely different points, and let's face it, you're easily confused...

Do you actually have any real opinions at all...? Mere contradiction is not actually taking an informed position on anything.....

No, its obvious youll think you are right as per usual, you dont like other opinions and I dont like yours

I don't want to be part of this forum as all you do is shout other peoples opinions down which I find very patronising, you think you are above everyone and Im not the only poster who thinks this

Toodles :smoke:

Good, p*** off then, your total negativity, ignorance and unwillingness to properly explain your points in order to contribute to a healthy discussion won't exactly be missed....

Come up with something a bit more than the totally monosyllabic and negative "I disagree" (just how is anyone supposed to work with THAT ffs...??) and maybe I'll listen to you... If my response was dismissive it's because you hardly deserve any better when you come up with something so utterly TRITE!!!! <_<

You've absolutely NO excuse, you are British born and bred, English is your language, fukkin USE IT!!!! My god, there are posters from Portugal, Brazil, Sweden, Holland, Japan, etc who produce absolutely MARVELLOUS posts regardless of the fact that English is NOT their mother tongue, and what do we get from many supposed native English speakers.....? txtspk, monosyllabic garbage, posts with horrendous grammatical and spelling errors which would totally confuse and confound our foreign language contributors because they were taught the PROPER English spelling and grammer when they learned it in their Schools or Colleges.....

I've managed to watch this on DVD and it was ok but not brilliant. Its a bit slow to begin with but things start to build up nicely in the last 45 minutes. I didnt like all the swearing and thought the film could have had a better ending.

This is on tonight at 10pm in Channel 4. Am wondering whether to watch it or not. Is is as good as the likes of 'Wolf Creek'?
My mate was telling me about this and said it's a scary but wicked film! :o
