Robbie Williams currently leads the top European sellers list this year according to the BPI. The singer shifted 12 millions units of his three albums - 'Greatest Hits', 'Intensive Care' and 'Rudebox'.

Robbie was well ahead of his nearest rival, Coldplay who sold 4 million copies of both 'Parachutes' and 'X&Y' although ex-grunt James Blunt sold more of a single album than any other artist with his 'Back to Bedlam' debut topping the 5 million mark.

Of the 36 IFPI Platinum Awards this year - given for million selling albums - UK acts scooped more than half although the list is unlikely to be complete as several new releases including Razorlight, Snow Patrol and the Arctic Monkeys have yet to be factored in.

The list includes artists who span over 40 years of Brit-Pop history from The Rolling Stones with 'A Bigger Bang' and more recent rising stars such as The Kooks with thier million-seller 'Inside In/Inside Out'.

LONDON (Reuters) - British acts dominated the list of top-selling bands and artists across Europe this year heralding a "golden age" for the country's music scene, the UK record industry's trade association said on Thursday.

Performers such as Coldplay, The Kooks, Katie Melua and the Kaiser Chiefs scooped 19 out of 36 Platinum awards given to artists selling more than one million copies of an album across Europe, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) said.

U.S. artists took 12 of the awards run by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, including two for the Scissor Sisters who are signed to a UK label.

Robbie Williams was the most successful UK performer, receiving awards for three separate albums whose total sales exceeded 12 million.

naughty I know, thought I would make a seperate header, if the tabloids won't put it in their daily's and Robbie's management team do not feed the news to the UK public.

I will do my best to do it myself. :cheer:

Yeah, you show 'em, Jackie. Go girl ! :yahoo:

oh I will show them. There is never enough praise towards Robbie. The tabloids don't like sensible facts and figures.

BUMP.

And anastacia is the most sucessfull female :smoke: Of the 21st century that is -_-

Well done to everyone of those Brit acts..particularly Robbie

Josh is Anastacia still classed as a US act? I am never quite sure, she is just so European now, and another great singer that seems to find her own country hard to woo as well.

Am I again reading the figs wrong, it says that James Blunt sold the most of a single album with 5million, but hasn't Robbie's Greatest Hits and Intensive Care done so as well?

She releases her music worldwide in every country except the US, mainly because she dosn't want to be sucessfull there

She WAS going to release a new version of her 3rd album and left outside alone over there but 5 days before her show on oprah she cancelled everything and said she dosn't want to try and crack america -_-

Seems similar to Robbie then :smoke:

It seems to difficult for non RnB music to be a hit over their  Well with the exception of Dido and James Blunt, and Coldplay. Upbeat pop music seems to be dead :(

Thanks Josh for the answer, all I can say it they are missing two great acts. :)
