Posted November 11, 200618 yr Kylie on comeback trail Virgin Net Kylie Minogue dazzled an adoring crowd on Saturday when she took to the stage for the first time since being diagnosed with breast cancer. The singer reopened her Showgirl tour in Australia with the words "Good evening Sydney!" as she emerged from a rising platform in the centre of the stage. The long-awaited comeback concert was the first time Minogue had performed on stage since being forced to postpone the tour in May last year. Wearing a pink-feathered head-dress and flowing gown by designer John Galliano she kicked off her renamed "Showgirl Homecoming Tour" with her classic hit 'Better The Devil You Know'. It was followed by dance floor favourites 'In Your Eyes' and 'Spinning Around' as well as her new song 'White Diamond', which she wrote with American disco group The Scissor Sisters. The diminutive star's energetic performance also included renditions of 'On A Night Like This', 'Shocked' and 'Confide In Me'. Speaking ahead of the show, Minogue said resuming the tour was a major achievement for her. She said: "Just to be here and have the opportunity to do it, I feel quite proud of that. "I'm thrilled to be back. I've been looking forward to this for such a long time." Her performance was the first of 20 concerts in her native Australia before a series of sold-out dates in the UK in January. Kylie had completed the European leg of her tour when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent surgery to remove a lump from her breast and finished her chemotherapy treatment in December. Since then she has slowly returned to public life, becoming a high-profile advocate for cancer screening and support groups. She is working on a new album, which is set for release next year. Any Comments about the return of the Princess of Pop?
November 11, 200618 yr Well, I certainly am interested to hear the new song when I go and see her in January. :D
November 11, 200618 yr Author Kylie returns to stage in Sydney BBC Entertainment News Pop star Kylie Minogue has taken to the stage in Sydney wearing a pink feather head-dress for her first concert since being treated for breast cancer. "Good evening Sydney!" the singer shouted as she emerged from a rising platform in the centre of the stage. Minogue, 38, was re-opening her Showgirl world tour which was postponed after her diagnosis in May 2005. She will play 20 concerts in her native Australia before the tour reaches the UK in January next year. Changes have been made to the show because the chart-topping singer is not yet fully fit. "I'm thrilled to be back. I've been looking forward to this for such a long time," she said. "I'm as prepared as I can be but I'm not sure that I'll be able to do everything that I did before - not that I do an enormous amount of jumping all over the stage, but quick changes are really stressful." Despite her worries, the star put on an energetic performance, and managed to squeeze into a variety of costumes designed by fashion icons such as Dolce e Gabbana, Karl Lagerfeld, Emilio Pucci and John Galliano. She performed hits from her 20-year-long pop career, including In Your Eyes, Shocked, and Better The Devil You Know - which opened the show. The concert also featured a new song, White Diamond, co-written with the US dance act, Scissor Sisters. Surgery Minogue revealed that she had cancer in May 2005 and underwent surgery in Australia two days later. The singer finished her chemotherapy in December 2005, but still receives treatment to prevent a return of the cancer. She performed UK and European dates of her greatest hits tour between March and May last year. But the pop star was forced to abandon her Showgirl world tour and an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival after her diagnosis. Festival organiser Michael Eavis has said he remains "hopeful" that the star will play next year's event. Will you witness Kylie's return to the stage?
