October 24, 20195 yr Author I think they just used Flying Without Wings for that little publicity because they know this will be released twenty years after fww and it's their most influential original ballad single in the UK.
October 24, 20195 yr The old sound is what made fans fall in love with them in the first place. They're sounding a bit like a tribute band at the moment
October 24, 20195 yr Just listen to the new single and my first impression is that it is nowhere near Flying Without Wings in terms of quality. Some notes: 1- Maybe they didn't released the new album on 20th of September because they've been told that Liam Gallagher and Keane are releasing their album and it was tall order. I know Keane underperformed (by their standards) but even the fear of losing this battle is just stupid, considering this is their comeback album and they've won the battle of Oasis, U2, The Beatles and themselves by beating Stop The Clocks which is unreal (if you're an Oasis fan you certainly know what I mean). 2- Then again they're very lucky that both Robbie and Coldplay deciding to release their albums one week later. So if they reach no.1 it will be just for 1 week because there is no way to beat Rob when he is releasing festive album with so many a-list duets and original materials. 3- I think it would be massive failure if they can't reach no.1 in album chart. You know Take That back with a bang with Progress (don't tell me about streaming and ...) and all we need is selling more than 90k. 4- I hate Hello My Love and told you guys why back then and it is by no means an anthem for concert opener as someone said. It is mediocre at best but still can't understand why the record label released the song on Thursday and the lads wasted 6k of sales. Once again I should stress that if there was a chance for them to have a no.1 or top 3 hit, the comeback single was the chance. 5- The only positive outcome of this album to date (for me) is Better Man and Dynamite music video (not the song). Can't believe many of you keep saying that Westlife should release modern and uptempo songs to have more attraction for new generation. I don't know copying David Guetta and many electronic stuff (Dynamite) is helping but it just make them like all the other pop acts there. If you want to see critics saying something positive about any Westlife album: it will never ever happen. They don't dare to even listening to their stuff. Where We Are was brilliant album and kinda change of direction but overlooks by many outlets like The Guardian, BBC and ... as boring. New generation are happy with all these crap songs released weeks in, weeks out (all looks the same) and look at the chart in US and UK. It is not changing at all because there is damn streaming that allow such an average song like Old Town Road to be no.1 for 19 weeks in US. I love country but this cross-over hip-hop and country song is dreadful and 19 weeks is even too much for the iconic songs like I Will Always Love You and Everything I Do or The Dance. So this road is going to NOWHERE. WESTLIFE WILL LOSE THEIR IDENTITY WITH THE LIKES OF HELLO MY LOVE AND DYNAMITE. They had so many uptempo songs in the past which were way better than these so called modern music. You can find tones of them in their CV. 6- Maybe they understand that Bryan is much needed for bringing back charisma to the band. I think he just tortured too much in UK and Ireland. Yes, he cheated on Kerry and left the band right before their tour but he is not serial killer after all and I think when Louis Walsh talking about possible comeback for him on Wembley or Cork gigs it is something. 7- Just wishing they don't losing their identity. I prefer When You're Looking Like That, I Lay My Love On You, World of Our Own, Hit You With a Real Thing to these shits like HML.
October 24, 20195 yr Author Streaming market vs. sales market, age and generation gap those are their biggest dilemmas. I guess they are confident with their pre-order album sales that's why they are releasing this kind of song. They are focused on the singles market probably on this one. We still don't know if this fourth single will be playlisted on major playlists of Spotify UK and YouTube. How far will the record label go?
October 24, 20195 yr Author Navid are you American? Many but not all of their British fans in 2009 didn't liked Where We Are and it reflected on its chart peaks. As a music fan and immersed to both American and European music I didn't understand why it underperformed that's why I read the reviews from their fans way back. By the way, I don't get those boring reviews too, I guess it's because of the time. It's their album on the tenth year of their career already.
October 24, 20195 yr There is nothing wrong with certain change, I really don't see they are losing their identity with the songs they released. Comparing anything with Take That's success is not right because a huge shift happened since then. The whole music industry changed so much. Also, who the hell knows what kind of music Brian would even make, the last 2 of his albums are cover albums, not sure what sound would he even have so its not 100% sure he would help Westlife in some way.
October 24, 20195 yr the problem with Where We Are was that the group spent ages talking about the new album and focusing on how was gonna be original material... and it was almost all original... but then last minute thery chickened out and released their cover of What About Now as the lead single. Even as a non-fan it felt wrong.

Even as a non-fan it felt wrong. They didn't chicken out, Simon forced them. Its really disgusting how Simon manipulated Shane to agree, he talked about it in his autobiography. Its such a shame the ONLY single from that album was the only damn cover on it. Edited October 24, 20195 yr by zeze88
October 24, 20195 yr Author Simon blackmailed them. He only wanted to release What About Now as the single or the album will be shelved. On Shane's mind, he needs money because he's already debt-ridden he was forced to approve it. it was on Shane's book.
October 24, 20195 yr Author It's not just the single choice but the tracks inside they said it sounded very American. Yes because most of it are from American producers. Well it will be more successful if Where We Are will be released now as the music worldwide and in the UK are very Americanized now
October 24, 20195 yr I'm not American but know their taste about music. I think Simon (with all those stupid things he's done to Westlife) exactly knew and still know the taste of the market. Back then he understood the pure pop wouldn't work and as BSB and later Take That paved the way suggested more edgy stuff. With Never Gone album, it was and still my benchmark for any boyband when there is something called change of direction. After so many years BSB came back with amazing Incomplete along with brilliant I Still and ... This is what things should be done and not doing electronic music just because it is 2019. Though What About Now was cover but was the most modern track that Westlife ever released untill then and it would be no.1 if it wasn't for Cheryl because she was national treasure back then and the whole Britain had sympathy for her for the way her husband treated her. Almost 10 years from original release date I can listen to What About Now on loop for whole day but can't stand Hello My Love. Where We Are was brilliant and almost every track had the potential to be single and I said Simon is clever and he picked exactly the best song for transition from pop to pop/rock. What About Know was released by American rock band called Daughtry (I love them) and it was wise because back then no one heard about them in England despite hugely successful debut in USand it seems like original track for many. So I prefer pop/rock songs rather than electronic stuff if they want to be current and it's my humble opinion and could be completely wrong. Brian is a talented singer and his debut single as a solo artist (Irish Son) which reached no.1 was way ahead of it's time. It was great pop/rock song and he is the same for me and releasing cover albums is nothing to do with have not enough talent. About Chart I just said Old Town Road as an example and same applied to One Dance by Drake and 16 tracks of last Ed's album in top 20. It's is stupid and insane.
October 24, 20195 yr We can talk how BSB were great but their new album is also trying to be modern in 2019, its nowhere near Never Gone.
October 24, 20195 yr My Blood iTunes: #42 Malaysia #163 Singapore #243 Indonesia it doesnt look like its gna be a hit anyway.. and with no physical release and as it looks like a very simple music video.... Top 40 looks impossible..
October 24, 20195 yr We can talk how BSB were great but their new album is also trying to be modern in 2019, its nowhere near Never Gone. Sadly Chances and is it just me were the only good songs on the album. Praying Westlifes album does well but the management have f***ed up massively.
October 24, 20195 yr My Blood is so far ahead of the other 3 tracks in terms of quality, actually annoys me how the label have messed up so badly by releasing better mand and dynamite. My blood is just perfection. Along with Hello my love they smashed it.

I doubt there will be any. Actually I doubt there will even be any proper promotions for the album. Universal doesn't care about them.
October 25, 20195 yr Author Sadly Chances and is it just me were the only good songs on the album. Praying Westlifes album does well but the management have f***ed up massively. For me No Place, Passionate and don't go breaking to some extent were the only good tracks. Never Gone and their debut album are their best albums
October 25, 20195 yr And thst is my point, if they took a longer break, this new average album would have been their comeback. In terms of quality, Spectrum is already now better than BSB latest album "Who are the sex police, my sex has no rules" this lyric makes me cringe. Edited October 25, 20195 yr by zeze88
